Braylon Edwards misses warmups, and other notes from practice

SANTA CLARA — I just got back from the practice field, and Braylon Edwards wasn’t on it.

I expect the Niners make him inactive for this Sunday’s game against the St. Louis Rams. I also expect Brett Swain to take his place at receiver on the active roster. And finally, I expect Ted Ginn Jr. to start opposite Michael Crabree, not Kyle Williams.

Adam Snyder was on the practice field fully padded. Whether he plays or not this weekend I couldn’t say, but it appears as though his hamstring strain is mild. One reporter asked him in the locker room today how he felt, and he said: “Good. Really good.”

I have one more observation from warm ups. I explained to someone in the comment section that Colin Kaepernick struggles throwing passes that lead receivers on slant routes. I watched him closely today and I want to expand on that.

He seems to only struggle on certain slants. When a receiver runs from the left to the right he has no trouble hitting him in stride. But when a receiver runs from right to left, Kaepernick consistently throws behind him.

So, throwing accurately across his body to moving targets is something he needs to improve on.
