The Santa Rosa Press Democratic just posted my Wednesday article on the key matchups for the Niners this Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.
For the article I interviewed Ricky Jean Francois – the 49er with the broadest perspective and the most to say when it comes to dissecting and discussing football.

Darth Vader with a southern drawl…love it! Of course, now that voice is stuck in my head…with a southern accent. It’s asking “Who dat gonna beat them Saints” and answering “Them Niners..dat’s who’s gonna beat them Saints!!”
May the force be with you, Niners!
And with you friend of ‘Max’…
Dat’s right!
Grant-
Am I missing something. Does the term “dopes” mean something I’m not privy to?
This is the second time I’ve seen it here and thought it to be out of context.
I’m with you on this one. I thought it was supposed to be “doles out”… Grant the writer, he must know something about the English language that we don’t lol!
I looked it up, and Grant is correct (of course). Grant displaying a hint of wordsmanship.
“dopes out”?
I am way too old.
‘Dopes out’ is a form of an expression of a pre-fifties generation- from before WWII (my parents, I’m a boomer).
For them the ‘dope’ meant the facts, the information, the real deal.
Not a baggie of the good stuff. That came later: 50s-60s.
‘Dopes out’ meant to explain, to dissect, to make understandable. So if RJF doped out the 9ers take on the Saints he gave information to make his take of it clearer, more complete.
So if a blogger doped you out on this dope stuff he gave you info on what is the dope. Not that he smoked the whole freakin bag! Capice?
Now I;m gonna read the RJF dope on the Saints…
Thank you.
Ahhhh that was Gooood!
Hey I’m talkin’ about the RJF take on the Niner D stoppin’ Sproles, Graham, Brees.
What you thinkin’??
Ahhhh that was Gooood!
Hey I’m talkin’ about the OL take on the Niner D stoppin’ Sproles, Graham, Brees.
What you thinkin’??
sorry duplicate
well let’s just hope we are not duped
9′ers have such high hopes! Stopping Brees, Graham, Sproles, P. Thomas, Ivory, Colston, Meachem, Henderson, and Moore are tall orders. Very few have been able to slow them down to date!
Blah, Blah, and Blah! Go ahead, take away Graham and Sproles (unlikely – nobody has been able to do it yet). And while you’re trying that, what are you going to do to stop P. Thomas, Ivory, Colston, Meachem, Henderson, and Moore???? You guys are going to have your hands full!
@Whodat
You mean like Philly’s offense players? Yeah. They got all those yards on us. But what happened at the end?
The best DL in the NFL Justin Smith ran down field 20yards and caught up to the fastest WR on their team, punched the ball out, Niners recover and win the game.
And what happened last year between the two teams?
The Niners nearly topple the Super Bowl champs while being coached by their worst HC in their history, Mike Singletary.
MS sucked. He didn’t know anything who dat. Every question about why the Niners stank it up that game was always answered with “Gotta look at the film.” It was pathetic.
But, that team still came within a hairs width of beating your team. Now that we have an actual HC who is known for not pulling his pants down in the locker room, but for out-smarting/out-coaching the opponent, how much better do you think we are now?
“(unlikely – nobody has been able to do it yet)”
And your team faced which powerhouse Defense?
Your division sucks rocks. You play the Texans at home, and they are nothing near the Niners. You faced a bunch of weak teams and preyed on them. Good for you.
Now, you have to face the real deal. Guys who don’t just stand there while the RB runs by them untouched for a TD. Or let WR’s run free in the end-zone with nobody 10 yards nearby. We also got the note that we can wrap up the opponent and not just takcle with our head. Look back at that Lion game, and the Lions gave that game to you. Stupid players make stupid plays. Niners don’t have stupid players.
And, we get a little more pressure on the QB than that wuss Lions team did. Our DL and LB core do their jobs, so all those cut-back runs that Sproles has against stupid defenses won’t be there.
@who dat
You keep talking up Sproles this and Sproles that. You realize that the Niners held him under 100 when we played SD last year, right? We’ve seen him, stopped him.
How do you plan on stopping FG? Running backwards and being a wuss? FG is one tough dude. He gets into the secondary, you are going to have hot flashes of Lynch in last year’s Seattle playoff game.
And who’s going to stop gore for da aints? Can’t do much when your offense is sitting on the sidelines. Wheeew.
Who dat, that’s still crying from mondays Lsu beat down by Bama? The same Dat, that’s gonna be crying after the 49ers beat down on them saints……
“You guys are going to have your hands full!” — Who Dat from Mandeville.
For sure…and our hands will be even fuller next weekend!!
no doubt the niners will have their hands full……NO is an excellent team with many shifting weapons….at the pinnacle of a multi-year run at the SB…..run game is right at the top of the league and passing is at a NFL historical high….except for the lions in the playoffs haven’t given up more than 20 points on defense….niners have a pretty good defense which has some secondary issues and on offense they have a damaged running game and average receivers with an average QB….yep on paper and recent december history the scales are tipped….
guess it will come down to scheme…..
JG,
I know you are a Niner fan and I respect you for your posts. You are objective and absolutely correct . I hope we beat them but the realities don’t say that we will. Very good post.
Just wait ’till Justin, Pat and I break down the levees. Ya’ll ain’t seen nothin’ like what we’re bringin’
This might still be too soon….a lot of people died because of that event. Us 49ers are better than that. We’ll put the hurt on the Aints while staying classy!
GO 49ers!!!!!
No, it’s OK really, we’re all staying in FEMA trailers instead of a team hotel.
Go figure that Drew Brees and Aldon Smith are the same person – they have the same stupid triangle face.
Nice analogy! What an idiot!
RJF better be ready to play the game of his life Saturday. Between Ole McDonanlds’ hammy and Cowboys’ knee I’m somewhat concerned that they may not be as effective as they usually are.
@razor
The Saints guys are hurting just as much. Everybody is.
Who’s hurting for the Saints? Moore has been nursing a hamstring. Everyone else is good to go!
If you don’t think everybody is hurting by this time of year, you don’t know football.
And rest assure. NO’s players will be hurting playing against us. We are a very physical team all around. Defense/offense/special teams.
NO has not played anybody nearly like the Niners. The Niners have played quiet a few teams this year who can put up points (Philly, Pit, Dallas, Detroit, Baltimore..and at their home especially…we held them to about half their scoring average). NO has not faced a great defense, with an offense who does not make mistakes. Especially one such team on the road.
Another dreamer. Let me let you in on something you might not know. Both offensively and defensively the Saints have extremely good depth. They rotate their players regularly. That’s why we’re in the excellent physical shape we’re in.
Hey Who Dat,
isn’t Mandeville where they filmed Deliverance?
Nicely done, Grant.
You guys are hilarious! You act like you are already at the top of the heap and nobody is even close to you in talent! Yea, the NFC West is some tough division! I’m not talking up Sproles. You guys keep mentioning Sproles. Although he is another weapon, among many, that you will need to stop! Good luck, going to be interesting to watch. Oh by the way, I’m not a big Les Miles or Jordan Jefferson fan, so don’t give me the LSU crap!
@Who dat
“Blah, Blah, and Blah! Go ahead, take away Graham and Sproles (unlikely – nobody has been able to do it yet). ”
Memory problems of yours? You opened up your post saying this. Your 6:12 post also brought him up.
And what is your plan to stop FG/KH? Just watching as they run right by you is one plan. Heck, it seemed work for you in last years playoffs.
Is that all you have to keep bringing up is last years playoffs? Not to make excuses because everyone has to deal with them, but we had no running backs dummy! And you guys weren’t even in the playoffs. The Saints have been very effective this year stopping other teams premier backs less the Rams game. Our defensive statistics are reflective of the fact that we’re so far ahead in most games that teams are picking up trash yards toward the end of the game. I’m getting bored of going back and forth with you clowns. Let’s let the teams strap it on and play!
Dummy?
Ok.
Now what is the difference between a division and conference again?
Nice try. Strike out.
Who exactly have you stopped this year anyway? We stopped that TB running game. You were beaten by TB. We stopped everybody. Our reporter here said that you allow about 5 yards a carry. That is pathetic! If that is good, what are the Niners run D to you?
And oh. By the way. We spent a lot of time in the lead this year too, so don’t give us any of that malarkey of teams were behind us a lot BS.
Injured player wise, just so that you know, not once this year were the Niners ever able to start their starting WR’s all in one game. Morgan, Crabtree and Edwards all at once. They were all injured at some point along the way. So, you were without a RB for one stinking game. Oh so sorry. We still managed to compile the 2nd best record in the league without ever seeing how good our WR core could actually be.
Sorry for bringing up the playoffs from last year or last years game, but your record and performance from this years Rams game did not prove that you can beat an NFC west team. Facts are facts. You are coming here and we are not going there because the Saints lost to a team who was win-less st their first 7 games and were in the Andrew Luck sweepstakes till then end. The term for that is “choker”.
You are all over the place cracker! You keep bringing up last years playoff loss. Yes, we lost to the Seahawks and we responded last year. I’m tired of hearing your BS! I hope you don’t have your team overconfident for no logical reason at all. They better be ready to chase RBs and Recievers all day!
Your D is good but not as good as you think!
@Who
Ok.
What would be ok to discuss?
You keep saying a bunch of BS on your own end. Sproles this. Our safeties that. Please.
Our D is better than what you and the Saints think. That is all that matters.
And, we have an historically good run D. Please do some homework before you spout anything negative at all about our D. Best in NFL history. Even before the NFL existed.
Our LB’s are faster than anything you ever saw. And they actually tackle. Don’t just sit around and watch the game like Detroit did.
You know absolutely nothing about the Saints. They had no running backs for Seattle – none. All were injured. But I don’t make excuses – it was what it was. What’s your excuse for not being in the playoffs?
Well then, we will see plenty of RB’s on game day.
Do that. Look at the score at the end of the day.
And, we never started our ideal WR core this whole season! So what if you didn’t have all your players. That’s life in the NFL. Now do you want to bring up last year or not? Why didn’t they run against the Rams? Please. Your team lost because they stank up the joint. That is why teams lose more often than not. Get over it already.
“What’s your excuse for not being in the playoffs?”
I already told you why we didn’t make the playoffs. Worst HC in Niner history. Niners chosen to win the division last year, and because of the HC and staff, they stank.
New HC. New staff. Now we are 13-3. Up from more than double our previous season win total (6-10 last year).
Best defense in NFL history? What????????
Now I know your on crack!!!!!!! You are really, really, really funny!!!!!!!!
@who
They are the best rush D in history. Held opponents from getting a rushing TD for the first14 games of the season.
No other pro team in any era had ever done that. Don’t believe me look it up. Want to llive the la-la land everyday is there to party, then don’t look it up. Up to you really.
You think it’s funny. Get your laughs on beause there will be lots of crying from you.
Sounds like someone is wound a little tight. Personal attacks aside maybe its time to adjust those whitey tighties.
Just one more thing! If Gore does happen to break through the line, he best have his helmet strapped on tight and know where Roman Harper and Malcolm Jenkins are! These are the two hardest hitting safeties in the league.
Yeah.
They did a great job this year of backpedaling like a bunch of wuss safeties. FG will eat them alive.
Sorry. I saw enough of the Saints secondary play against the run to know that they didn’t address their wimpy attitude when it comes to tackling RB’s in the secondary.
You must be on crack! I don’t know what team you’re watching!
You think the Saint D is tough on the run and their safeties can hit hard?
I know you have not watched any Niner games. 5 yards a carry does not sound like they are that scary. And, I still saw them run back a lot against RB’s.
You really don’t know much about FG do you? I do know about Sproles. I know what he is good at and what he lacks. The Raiders play the Chargers, so I saw a good deal of him.
“Who dat” ‘s comments aren’t that bad, although I don’t know what he expected to find here other than optimism. I suspect that most observers will pick the Saints even on the road. Many ‘Old School’ fans will want to see a big time D stifle Brees’ Run & Gun; but they’re waiting to see it happen.
It can’t hurt the 49ers to have that underdog mentality; its worked ok so far.
I hope that ST Coach is dialing up some stuff too!
It’s definitely going to be a good matchup!
It is going to be a good matchup. The brown bag days have left the Saints, the Niners are going to restore those days.
now that would make a signature game
This game has the makings of being an instant classic. In several different categories this is basically the #1 Defense against the #1 Offense. Both teams are well rounded, and these two teams have a long history with each other (I remember the division rivalry well!).
The Saints look so much better on paper, but the Niners are a lot scrappier than their numbers will lead you to believe. There is a reason they’re 13-3 and it’s not because they’re in the NFC West – its because they played hard every game no matter who the opponent was.
Who Dat and every other Saints fan trolling this blog seems to think this will be a blow out in their favor. Let them. Butter them up, let them know how great their team is. Let them continue to underestimate the Niners and their will to win. It’s not going to hurt us any.
I think it will be a blow-out too, but my gut tells me the Niners will be ones dishing out the beat down.
Niners 34, Saints 17 (yes, Crab I changed it slightly just for you :-)
Saturday can’t come soon enough!!
Who’s got it better than us???!!!
I respect your optimism. Just standing up for some running down the Saints! Some on this post act like the Saints are some second rate team and I just wonder why they think the 9′ers are so much better. As far as the 2011 record goes, we played the NFC central. I think they are just as good or better than the NFC West. Oh by the way, we beat the Ravens.
You’re on a Niners blog. What did you expect, discussions about Martha Stewart?
5-0. 6 is on the way.
@Adam
“What did you expect, discussions about Martha Stewart?”
On this blog, I wouldn’t rule that out.
Who,
What year was this when you beat the Ravens. I hate it when clowns try and talk up their team and don’t even know about their team. It like someone else is telling them what to write. When did you beat the Ravens? What year was this because it certainly wasn’t this year.
You’ve not faced an elite defense this year my friend. You will be facing one this Saturday. This Niner defense does as much as it neededs to for the offense to win the game.
It’s not gonna happen for you my friend!!
Who Dat,
I don’t know any intelligent Niner fan who considers the Saints a second class team. They are hands down the toughest match up yet for the Niners so far this year.
As far as the Ravens go, that wasn’t our best performance. Keep in mind the Niners had to travel 3000 miles on three days rest before playing the Ravens on Thanksgiving.
I’m a die hard Niners fan – of course I’m optomistic. This is the best team and the best coaching staff we’ve had in a decade!!
Looking forward to an incredibly hard fought game on Saturday!
23 Jordan
You are absolutely right! Mental error. I think we beat them last year. We did however face the Houston Texan which, I believe, have a higher rated defense than the 9′ers and beat them soundly. We also beat the Giants soundly and their defense is not shabby. Apologize for the error.
@who
You played both those teams at home.
Who wasthe starting QB for the Texans when you played them?
And you played the Giants after we took the wind out of their sails when they beat NE. They really fell apart after losing to…The Niners.
Anything else?
We played the Texans at the beginning of the year with their starting QB!
Brees and the Saints are going to get poo[ped on and the Saints weak D will be all wet and muddy :) Saints fan should start cheering for the cheesecrotches bc saints are going home this sunday for the season
Come on.
Is this a Raider blog? Keep it classy.
Keep dreaming
Cheering for the Giants so we can host the NFC Championship game.
Now you’re talking like a rational (49ers) fan.
dont hide your man crush on brees too bad he wont be able to win this weekend with 49ers making the saints look like they did when we were in the same division WHO DAT rooting for the cheesecrotches
Another crackhead
A little off topic-but where there isn’t a Grant on KNBR talking 49er with Raddy…they have a guy from MILWAUKEE?? ..I never use wtf…but if I ever do..that would describe it.
How cheap can a show go?
Again, LMAO regarding your admiration for the NFC West! Hilarious!
And what makes it greater is that your team keeps losing to them. Facts hurt. I know. So you just ignore them.
Not ignoring it, but sure isn’t because you guys are that good! In fact, we beat you guys in pre-season.
I know, that doesn’t count. The other games I think were more the result of timing than talent. You keep ignoring that you weren’t even in the playoffs last year. At least we got there. Your so much fun to bicker with.
When was the last time you blew out an NFC West team anyway?
We played your arch rival TB Buc team here in SF. Beat them to a pulp. 48-3.
Your last two NFC West games, you lost. You barely beat us with the worst Niner HC ever.
How good is the rest of onag ainision again
NFC West 30wins.
NFC South 33 wins.
These are the same Conference by the way.
Atlanta is going to go thru some major changes, and really did stink this year.
So, NFC South is so much better because they have 3 more wins than the NFC West? 3 wins out of a total of 40+6+4+2 = 52 games is not that big a deal. That is 5.7% better.
Yeah. Got me there.
@Who dat
“You keep ignoring that you weren’t even in the playoffs last year. ”
You want to talk playoff history with us? Sure you wanna go there?
Outside of your one Super Bowl win, what have the Saints ever done in the playoffs. One good run does not a dynasty make my friend.
There you go again, all over the place. I don’t recall saying the NFC South is so great. Just not impressed with the NFC West.
Since you’re all over the place and make ridiculous comparisons, let me make one. Let’s see, the last time we beat the NFC West might have been in pre-season. Let me see, the score was 24-3 Saints. I don’t put any faith in this because it was preseason. I’m kinda surprised you didn’t bring it up. Like I said before, it’s so much fun bickering with you. And I guess your so proud of losing to the Cardinals and Cowgirls. Oh, and as I recall because I was trying to focus on it while watching the Saints dismantle the Panthers, the Rams were making a significant comeback on you guys before they ran out of gas deep in your territory! I wouldn’t be criticizing others for losing to the Rams. Get some lunch cracker, you are histerical!
Never said it was a dynasty cracker. Just stating a fact from last year. You guys have to go way back to talk dynasty. Really reaching now!
DS – Uh, Saints WERE in playoffs last year vs Seattle.
Remember, they lost to the worst playoff team in the history of the NFL.
At 7-9, the Seahawks were the first team in league history to make the playoffs with a losing record!
Where did you come from? We’ve already been through that. Where were you last year? Oh, home and not in the playoffs. You guys haven’t been in the playoffs in quite a while right?
@who dat
You seriously are using the pre-season game as something?
Let you in on something. When the Niners were kicking NO Saints rear ends when we were in the same division, we often went 1-3, 2-2, 2-3 in the pre-season. Then we go on and win the division and deep into the playoffs.
We didn’t lose to the Rams. Your great safeties didn’t do a thing, so you lost. Ours did. We won. And since you didn’t play AZ in the 2nd half of the season, you don’t know about them. They happen to have the best WR in the NFL bar none in LF. Look him up.
Yeah. You dismantled the worst team from last season in the Panthers. Props to you for that heavy achievement. No seriously. When we started our dynasty, it was all over your backs. Couldn’t have done it without you Saints. lol
We lost to Dallas in OT. Not exactly a big time loss. I wold love to see LF play against your team. Can you say 500 yards receiving in 1 game. That Megatron guy is nothing next to LF. We know. Megatron didn’t get 200 yards on us.
“the Rams were making a significant comeback on you guys before they ran out of gas deep in your territory!”
Yeah. But we stopped them. That is what a good defense does. I know. You wouldn’t know what it looks like (a good D), so I can’t fault you for that. And we shut them out at home, and beat them on the road. That makes us 2-0. Not 0-1 like you.
“Get some lunch cracker, you are histerical!”
Well my favorite place to eat at Disneyland is the NO area. So only if you cook for me. : )
@Crab15
I didn’t say they weren’t in the playoffs. And yes. If you sneezed, you missed seeing them. Didn’t last very long.
The year before they won the Super Bowl. The year before that they finished 8-8 and didn’t make the playoffs.
Not that great. Just that one year.
Again, going back to your so called dynasty days! Let’s meet again after the game on one of these blogs. I want to listen to your excuses after we kick your azz.
Enjoy the game!
Go back one more year. We were in the conference championship game. Again, where were the 9′ers.
Keep enjoying your delusions and crack!
@who dat
Make you a deal.
You cook up the food, and I will provide you plenty of Kleenex for you.
You will need as you sob “B-b-b-b-buttt we were so good all year. We really showed those tough teams like the Panthers who is king. I don’t understand what went wrong?”
From the first month on, I wanted to play the Saints, GB in the NFC playoffs. I knew we were good, and wanted to play DB and AR to leave no doubt in anybody’s mind how good our D is, and reveal that AS is a good QB.
>>Again, going back to your so called dynasty days!
As we can tell, Saints fans know nothing about dynasties, but then how could they?
So-called? Yeah, called by everyone who has a clue.
@Who dat
“Again, where were the 9′ers.”
We had the stupidest coach outside of Oakland for the last couple of years and the coach before him threw our QB AS under the bus and had him continue to start games after he suffered a serious shoulder injury, throwing him under the bus, when shockingly…he wasn’t very good with a hurt shoulder.
The Niners have had the talent the last couple of years. Last years team is not all that different player personnel wise. New HC in JH, and we went from 6-10 to 13-3. Neither record is a joke/not telling/etc.
And.. if memory serves, NO lost that Championship game…on the road against a tough Bear Defense. See a pattern here? Tough D and playing on the road don’t bode well for your team.
Why are you guys bothering with these chumps?
The easiest answer to anything they say is: “5 Superbowl trophies – when you can match that, then you can come jibber jabber.”
They’ve got 4 to go. ;)
DS94
Well, your going to get your chance. Keep the Kleenex, your going to need it. I’m not going to make excuses but somehow I’m sure you will.
Like I said, enjoy the whipping.
@whodat
You just like to ignore the whole tough defense playing on the road issue your team has had their whole time. Doubt they make the Super Bowl that one year if they don’t have #1 seed.
That’s cool though. Keep on thinking that you had good practice getting ready for the Niners when you played Carolina 2 times this year. I hope your coaches look at that tape a lot and say “That is what we can do!”
DS 94
What is your point? I think your defense is good. By the way, I don’t recall saying anything negative about this years 9′ers team. Your the one that keeps running down the Saints! Just like you guys are like #4 in defense, the Saints are #1 in offense and I keep hearing from you that we don’t have a chance. Well,
I guess we’ll find out this weekend. And like I said before, your not going to get any excuses from me, but all I hear from you is how bad the coaching was before Harbough. By the way, our coach has a ring.
@Who dat
You brought up Carolina. You brought up how good your division is next to ours (only 3 more wins). You brought up pretty much everything. You keep bringing up the point “where were you last year?”
I just continued it.
And you don’t seem to have paid attention to the Niner tam. Not your fault since the media never gave the Niners any air time. But, the Niner D is beyond good. That ranking is by yards. Look at virtually everything else.
By the way, I do like DB. Of all the QB’s in the NFL, the only one I would pick to just come on in here and replace AS would be DB. He is the only one who I like who has the skill set the Niners do require to be good on this Niner team.
I’m going after your team because that is what I will do to any teams fans who come on here. If you don’t understand that, I can’t help you. And I don’t think I went anywhere horrible. It has all been PG.
“By the way, I don’t recall saying anything negative about this years 9′ers team. “…
…then in your 10:12 post on this same thread you said…
“Not ignoring it, but sure isn’t because you guys are that good!”
Seems to me that somebody might get the impression that you don’t think this Niner team is ‘that good’. You wrote it. Not me.
“…all I hear from you is how bad the coaching was before Harbough”
Well, you keep asking. You seem to be looking for a different answer. I keep giving you the actual answer. Lots of people don’t think that coaching matters that much. This Niner team here proves that statement wrong. If you take nothing out of your time on this blog, take that.
DS94
Typical of a crackhead – Imagines all kinda stuff!
DS 94
What is DS 94 anyway? Is that like the last time you guys were in the playoffs?
DS is a big fan of Deep Space 9. She has asked us to think of her as an alien with tentacles.
@who
Once again no reply to my statements. That means you lose. No explaination at how I got the idea where you don’t think we are good?
And can you stop with the name calling? I have not called you anything but your chosen name.
DS 94,
I guess “you” decide when you win. Let’s let the score decide this weekend. No matter who wins and who don’t. Both teams have had an outstanding season and deserve respect and admiration. You guys have a very good defense! The Saints have a very good offense. Like I’ve said many times, it’s going to be a good matchup! Good Luck.
Adam,
You are absolutely right! We’re working on #2
You’ll find that I’m always right. ;)
Next year might be your year.
Adam,
Excuse me! I guess I was communicating with GOD!
I thought he was on our side!
Interesting story on Akers:
http://espn.go.com/espn/story/_/id/7446366/rick-reilly-david-akers-amazing-year
Great story. Thanks!
fascinating stuff…love the confidence in his coaches and in his teammates…Bowman and Willis really are amazing athletes, not just big/fast/strong but fluid athletes as well…hope F.P. Soft is out of the building and they all come out hungry…gotta think they will
F.P. Soft is sitting with the Saints.
I’ve been reading through some of their blogs (since we have so many of their trolls here) and they’re supremely confident that this is just a stepping stone on their way to GB.
Rumor has it they’re already making their travel plans and practice arrangements for next week somewhere near Lambeau.
Yep, Freddy P. Soft is at it again, helping us out by whispering in the ears of our opponents.
They should be supremely confident. So should the Niners. I’m surprised if both teams are not “making plans” for their stay in Green Bay next week, but in all honesty, I perceive that as an undue slight against the NY Giants. That is a real team! Giants v. Niners for all the marbles at 3Com Park!

There’s actually nothing concrete or factual in this article, but if there is any validity to the speculation it could be the work of Mr. Soft :-)
wow, good stuff 49erGirl, its clear the Saints press is looking past the Niners, hope their team is as well.
one thing i love about our situation: few of the Niners have been to the playoffs (young team, etc), and to open up in the playoffs in front of the home crowd and on Candlestick grass should calm the nerves a bit. if we get a couple of turnovers, it could get ugly for the Saints.
I’m actually pulling for the Giants! I’m hoping to attend the NFC Championship game in NO.
Don’t count on it that the Saints are looking past the 9′ers. The Saints are very much looking forward to this matchup!
Better get a ticket to Candlestick then, mon ami.
5 Superbowl wins. 6th on the way. :)
Already got tickets for the dome!
@who dat
They should come cheap
And you will have the whole place to yourself.
No worries about traffic.
No – the dome will be packed and we’ll be playing the Giants and beating them again.
What is doped out? You have used that twice in the last week. Thanks.
Well as a well known rap/hip hop expert around these parts-ehem,I would say its “fly”.
Or,is that 1992??
The explanation is above in the second post.
I as well think we will come into this game with guns drawn and ready to kick some a$$.We have had a little rest, and we have some very hungry players who I think would love nothing more than to send the Saints home with tail between legs, lets hope the coaching staff does what they need to do, I know our guys can execute.
Good luck!
Nothing like experience in the playoffs!
“Nothing like experience in the playoffs!”
You do realize that the 1981 Niners had no playoff experience when they won their first Super Bowl, right?
And, the Saints at some point didn’t have any experience either. Were you spouting out the same redoric then? I’m thinking no.
The Saints should be supremely confident. They are playing at a very high level and are the favorites despite the fact they are the road team.
That being said, this is the playoffs and it is all the big boys now. There are no easy outs. Denver proved that last week.
C’Mon 9ers, win ugly like you always do.
True statement! Anybody can win at this point.
He means that RJF lays it out for us. ;)
Saints better have their 3/4 spikes ready to go, cause Candlestick is one sloppy mudda to play on. Ask any Playoff opponent they’ve seen at the Stick. Irvin lays it out quite well how slow that field will play this Saturday. Regardless of weather, Candlestick is a natural bog of a field. it’s the kind of field I loved playing on as a kid. And the kind of field my mother hated when I got home. :D
That’s right, Ceadderman. Saints haven’t seen anything like Candlebog all year. They should have been doing their practices on Lake Pontchartrain this week.
Didn’t the 9ers play 5 teams that are in the playoffs this year? And they went 4-1 against them. The lone loss being at the Ravens on that crazy short week.
People need to get over the weak schedule thing.
