An intimate look at Jim Harbaugh with Alex Smith at Pebble Beach

A friend of my dad’s had an inside look at Jim Harbaugh and Alex Smith at the AT&T golf at Pebble Beach last month.

The Niners played the Giants on a Tuesday. Duane Kuiper caddied for Mike Krukow, Alex Smith caddied for Jim Harbaugh. Jerry Rice, Matt Cain, and Brent Jones played, too, among others.

According to the observer, Harbaugh and Smith acted as if “they would be together for the next 10 years.”

    Adam Schefter tweeted:
“With SF adding Mario Manningham and Randy Moss, and NE signing Brandon Lloyd, neither side expected to pursue Mike Wallace. Steelers safe.”

    • PA says:

Just like no one expected the niners to go after PM.
Just like when they all said MM would go to the Lamps.

      those reporters are clueless.

  2. Hoferfan67 says:

Business is business especially if this PM signing is really about marketing the new stadium. Have they really sold out all of the 9,000 PSLs at $30,000 per??

    • BigP says:

This is about winning a championship, not marketing the new stadium. The best marketing strategy is winning, last year proved that.

    • fesnyc says:

Hof, please. nothing sells PSLs like a Super bowl Championship. if Baalke/Harbaugh/York thought Alex was the guy to take us to the promised land, we would have signed him, period.

this comment and the “anything short of the Sb will be a failure comment” (apols if i didnt get that quote with 100% accuracy) just sound like sour grapes. if you are still pulling for alex over the collective wisdom of a gm and coach who have completely turned around the franchise, you should question your basis for such judgment.

The only person to really benefit from all this Peyton Manning foolishness is Kaepernick. When Manning takes the big money in Denver and Smith signs with Seattle, the 49ers will be left with only CK. Even if PM signs with the 49ers, after a few big neck-jarring hits he will be out for the season, and CK will be the QB. Hope he’s getting himself ready.

You sound like a true fan….hoping a player on the team gets hurt.

    • NickRow says:

JH has plan A, B, C, etc remember? I’m sure there are contingency plans in place if we lose out on both PM and AS. In such a scenario , David Garrard could step right in and produce at or a higher level than AS at QB.

  4. AES says:

Looks like winning a Superbowl will always pre-empt being a caddie partner.
    It’s purely business, not personal.

    • Hoferfan67 says:

Hopefully JH tipped him well…but WAIT if AS gets more money in Sea, Mia, Clev, now possibly Denv. Hmm. Yeah the tip was good.

Grant, Any news on the details of the Manningham contract yet?
