Love the picks. Speed, strength, character, and the fact that everyone wants the obvious. . We choose players that will play and have good attitudes! Jenkins will surprise, James is a sproles kind of player, only better, and faster. Looney is a beast, needs pass protection work, Fleming is totally under rated, the FS will stay @ fs. For now our offense has threats, and our st just got more help. Our d is what it is with back ups to develop. I say we keep half of our picks. . . my grades 1st pick b 2nd pick b plus 3rd c 4th a- 5th b- Total grade so far b. . suck on it

Im Slowey starting to like our picks. Though all the banter on here is driving me a bit looney.

    When does mini camp start?

    Overview

Johnson played his first two years at outside linebacker at Virginia before moving to end, although his current size doesn’t necessarily suggest positional versatility at the next level. He has solidified himself as an end in a 4-3 scheme since he excels at many things that coaches utilizing 9-technique players desire at the position.

    Analysis

    Strengths
Johnson is a good athlete who moves well for an end his size. He has the foot quickness and explosive first step to keep offensive tackles off balance, and the body control to work his moves and not be thrown off track by linemen. He is a classic 4-3 defensive end who excels at rushing the passer. He is a face-up tackler who can fill his lane in run support, despite the inclination to rush the passer every down. He uses his hands actively when rushing the passer and playing against the run, and he gives good effort in pursuit on the backside. He is strong enough to hold the edge for his linebackers to flow to their gaps.
    Weaknesses
The scouting report on Johnson will recommend getting an extra hand or body on him at all times to completely neutralize him. At Virginia, he struggled against double teams. The problem usually stemmed from his effort, considering he displays the strength and technique to elude blocks when facing a single blocker. He will give up at times if he notices an extra blocker near him. He will need to learn how to bring it on every down in the NFL.

Is Cam a RayMc clone for depth? Remember how many pass rushers in the G-Men’s stable? I hope our scouts hit on another one.
Now boys, heat up those phones and bring in some udfas for Camp.

      I like it.

    • Spitblood says:

Cam is an outside linebacker. Don’t know why he fell to us in the 7th round, but not a DE behind McDonald.

      • Brotha tuna says:

The rating I saw said he’d originally been an OLB but had bulked up to 267 and seemed like a 4-3 LDE who can move inside on 3rd Down. Just what I read.
Aldon’s what? 265? He’s both DE/OLB, so maybe Cam is too. Can’t get toooooo excited by a 7th rounder; he’ll have to make the team.

      • Spitblood says:

He doesn’t look like a DE. He looks like a pass rusher, but you never know at this point in their careers.

      • Spitblood says:

Cam could be the steal of the LATE ROUND draft.

      • Hoferfan67 says:

CJohnson was a great pick. He was expected to go in the 3 or 4th – he not known for a great pass rush with technique but has a good bull rush. Let him watch Ald and Justin Smith – he’ll learn.

      • TIM says:

Apparently his Sickle Cell Anemia makes him tire easily and he must come out of the game after only a few plays to rest. Should be ok in the rotation though,I hope. I think Mayock had him in his top 50 players in this draft?

  7. Rick Carroll II says:

I can wait to see some fly sweeps with james or jenkins- more screens and swings. We couldve used a bigger WR for 3rd down, but if Randy Moss can be 80 percent of what he use to be- with VD and all this quickness, maybe things will open up for us. The lineman especially slowey are strong, so we just mite c a good gaurd and have a legit back up @ center. . Hopefully we nab a couple UDFAs- a big 6 fo Wr or TE. . Over all, who knows- but im sure harbaalke does. Cant wait to c a defense try to match up with all that 4.3-4.4 speed. Then toss Gore and Jacobs at them. I think we addressed needs, and their all young-fast-strong. eluding any injuries on defense and DG signing his F tag- we b rockin in 2o13 yo!
