Sacramento Superior Court Judge Lloyd Connelly ruled in favor of the 49ers on Tuesday to put a temporary restraining order on the disputed $30 million which the Santa Clara County Oversight Board is denying the team.
The 49ers insist they’re entitled to the money because Santa Clara voters specifically earmarked the money for the stadium project. Judge Connelly said the 49ers have “a powerful argument, and one that might prevail.” A hearing is set for July 27.

Grant….
Santa Clara CITY residents voted, not Santa Clara COUNTY residents. Lets keep that straight. Not that I’m against the stadium but when you see that it was the City, the residents of the City, and the Niners that were a part of the original deal and now see that the County is doing what it wants, it kind of magnifies the complaint the 49ers and the City of Santa Clara have.
If we need to we can change the name of the city to make this easier for everyone, since it seems that people have had a problem distinguishing the city from the county. I don’t think one needs to be a resident of Santa Clara County to know which is which. City Govt..PRO STADIUM/49ers, County Govt…PRO SCHOOLS/TEACHERS/ROADS.
I don’t think many people don’t know the difference between the City and the County or the State for that matter.
The State promised the County the $ and the County promised the City the $ and the City OWES the Niners the Money . The State is broke and is not giving the County as much $ as the County was counting on. Now the County wants to withhold the $ from the City because the State did it to them. The City can’t choose to withold the $ from the Niners because they owe it to the team and it will get paid back one way or the other. The City voters voted and they have spoken ! If the City can’t get the $ from the County, even after a court battle, then the City will pay it off over time from other tax revenue that the stadium generates. If worst comes to worst then the team can just withold the 1st $30 million dollars from the lease payments they are going to be making to the City ,simple as that. (remember, the City will OWN the stadium ,not the team. and the team will lease the stadium from the City to play football during the season.it wouldn’t take all that long to get even for the $30 million the City owes them ).
…and if you really believe the $30 million the County wants to keep will be economically spent on extra teachers and police etc, then I have a golden colored bridge for sale you might want to purchase for a good price, call me .
If you’re right Tim, that was a nice explaination.
Good job! But your reply, could have done without that one.
I’d hope that should the Niners start making a lot of money from this stadium and the fact that they are now, you know….good, that they will give the City and County some extra money somewhere along the way. Money is best, more effectively used at the local level,. And if the Niners did give the local gov. the money, it would go a long way to improving/maintaining Santa Clara City/County.

This = wrong. Nice simplification if it actually described the situation correctly, which it doesn’t.
Another reason to believe that SuperBowl victories don’t mean sh*t to players compared to being inducted to the Hall of Fame. Let’s count the number of superbowl rings sold to pawnshops and ebay versus the number of Hall of Fame jackets that have been auctioned off?

See here the thing most Super Bowl rings sold at pawn shops either come from non playing staff or players that don’t het those contracts and will never make the Hall
Why is it that the title of this blog is inside the 49ers, but I have to read nfl.com to actually see updates about our team and its running game? They did a quick piece on Kendall Hunter. That’s more than what has been done on this blog in the last month.
None of us care about the legal wranglings that will no doubt be drawn out for years to come.
Good point and I agree. Although it also doesn’t help to smatter in some behind the scenes, get to know the player type stuff that we also get here that you dont get from NFL.com.
Like anything else, you gotta take the good with the bad.
@medic
I actually care about the legal stuff if it effects my team. And this does.
Grant has had some nice pieces the last several months. But he has lacked the personal interview (ones I can’t get from somebody else) type stuff like the KH thing you are talking about since the AD incident.
For whatever reason.
