SANTA CLARA – All four of the Niners quarterbacks struggled in practice today.
Alex Smith threw three interceptions – one to Bowman, one to free safety Darcel McBath and one to reserve linebacker Mike Wilhoite. McBath’s interception came after a Mario Manningham tip in the middle of the field, but the other two picks were in the end zone. The entire offense was working on red zone efficiency, so Smith was trying to fit passes into tight windows, and today he was unsuccessful.
Colin Kaepernick threw for a touchdown and ran for one, too, but he also threw two picks – one to undrafted safety Michael Thomas and the other to outside linebacker Ahmad Brooks.
Scott Tolzien threw three picks – one to backup inside linebacker Larry Grant, another to backup safety Colin Jones and a third to undrafted rookie cornerback Deante Purvis.
Josh Johnson threw one pick at the end of practice, but got sacked many times throughout the afternoon.
Perrish Cox continues to struggle the most of the Niners top-five cornerbacks. Today he gave up touchdowns on back-to-back plays in a seven-on-seven red zone drill – one to Konrad Reuland and the other to Mario Manningham.
A.J. Jenkins was targeted three times and all three passes were intercepted.
NaVarro Bowman and Kyle Williams started practice but did not finish it. Each player came up a little gimpy during eleven-on-eleven drills, but neither guy was limping after practice.

Greg Roman has every tool in the shed to get creative in the Green Zone. He just needs to do it.
How is Cox getting beat? Can he not keep up, does he not get his hips pivoted fast enough, is he making bad reads??
I don’t think he can keep up on the outside. He got beat by Manningham for a touchdown in the front right corner of the end zone. Manningham beat him to the spot. The other TD he gave up was to Konrad Reuland. He was in the middle of the end zone on that play and he was late to break on the pass.
OK thanks for the follow up although I wish it was better sounding news. I had hoped he was an ace player that just needed to get his head right but it sounds like he’s a major work in progress or possibly just not all that good.
Sounds like the Redzone issues continue to persist, irregardless of who is the QB or WR’.
Obviously the execution is not sharp after just one week. While we can place blame on certain players for our 3rd down and redzone failures, perhaps it’s time to take a closer look at the play calling?
If we continue to have these deficiencies throughout TC and pre-season, we won’t be as successful (win-loss record) as we were last year when we caught most teams by surprise. Hopefully this vital area is ironed out ASAP.
No such word as “irregardless”.
Just pretend that you don’t see it, much like your name…
Actually, irregardless and regardless have the same meaning, and both are, in fact, words.
Irregardless is an informal term commonly used in place of regardless or irrespective, which has caused controversy since the early twentieth century, though the word appeared in print as early as 1795. [1] Most dictionaries list it as “nonstandard” or “incorrect”.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irregardless
I wouldn’t take too much out of this! They are playing against the best D in the league.,
I thought so too
AES
By money-time (playoffs), teams will be shaking in their boots to see us down there!
We do have lots of new weapons who have to learn how one another play. Reps solve that.
We have the skill there. So when it gets clicking, watch out!
I want to believe that as you do DS. Hopefully you’re prophetic on this.
@AES
Remember I started humming the tune to “Empire Strikes Back” the moment JH was hired. I knew AS could lead this team to the playoffs. And if not for 1 fumble, and another never called, we win the Super Bowl by a margin greater than NY did.
Add to that I said that GB won’t beat us and be lucky to even face us, and my prophecy has come true at a decent rate.
I had the details wrong to start (Spencer is better than TB), but I was pretty good.
And by the playoffs, teams will fear us in the redzone. The empure did return.
Anybody, any time, any place.
Irregardless is not a real word… U could use regardless in that semtence
U is not a real word. You could use “You” in that sentence.
(Lol) Thanks Holla
Good point, Hollafront, but some scholars (and dictionaries) may argue that irregardless is in fact a word today. It is not the preferred choice, but to some extent it has been popularized into existence by sheer ignorance. As Americans continue to reinvent the English language with Ebonics, double negatives and the like, pseudo words or phrases become popularized to the point of legitimacy. In the end, the lack of a quality education is the culprit. We allow kids to graduate from college who can barely speak, or spell, but can run, catch and jump. Then we wonder why the Chinese are kicking our ass…but we do have more medals :)
Hey, I’m going to use the word,
‘irregardless’ of what you say! (lol)
Its really early yet. Thats why they call it practice.
It should be noted than none of Alex Smith’s interceptions were his fault. He was bad in the red zone because every other member of the offense sucked. The coaches sucked, the play calling sucked and the entire population of the Western Hemisphere sucked.
Alex, however, was fantastic.
Already starring on Alex Smith? How did the other QB do? You going to call out Josh, Colin or Scott? Come on, it training camp for christ sake, that is where you expect them to make mistakes.
We all know by now, you do not like Alex, but come on,
Not bashing Alex. Just mocking his apologists.
Unlike his ardent supporters, Alex never makes excuses. He’s cool that way.
Don’t you think it is a bit childish?
Or are you trolling for someone to respond?
Probably childish. After 5 years of listening to you people it comes naturally now. Excuse after excuse after excuse. Throwing everyone else on the team under the bus. I can recite your lines in my sleep.
To my credit, I did leave out that one time where Joe Montana threw an interception in practice thereby proving that Alex is the bestest and most precious ever.
“you people”???
So you don’t like it when someone calls out your hypocritical comments?
You have become as bad as those you are supposed to be mocking.
MSC,
What happened to you?
Hmm, I haven’t seen a post by Bay lately. Did you take over your screen name?
BTW, it did sound like AS sucked yesterday. Good thing it’s early in training camp.
We only praise Alex because he’s white. Or so msc has argued in the past.
Msclemons, why don’t you start throwin around your race card again, telling us that we only support white athletes?
You know sometimes we say things on this blog in the heat of the debate, but you pulling that out just goes to show your a complete and utter •¥*#~!
That’s right, I’m abstaining from formal name calling everyone!
Oh shut yer pie hole MSClemons.
It’s stupid to pick fights with other fans. It’s time to move on regardless of what you think about Alex Smith or his “apologists”.
You’re nothing but an antagonizer.
If freakin Training Camp goofball. If you’re going to have turnovers, now is the time to do it. If you haven’t figured that out by now you should just watch another sport.
The better Nathan Palmer looks at WR, the more Ted Ginn seems destined to be cut. He doesn’t deserve a spot as a WR and if one or more of the other prospects to return punts and/or kickoffs, James, Cox, or anybody already set an another position, it makes that 6th WR spot available. Palmer is way too good to be cut. The kid is a real sleeper and has been the Niners’ best receiver so far this season.
LMAO Good on Msc 67
Uh, Old Wizard…you do not guarantee a player 500,000 grand and then cut him and you sure as hell do not cut a top 3 NFL kick returner in the middle of a Super Bowl run. Next year he is probably ghandi. For now go back to your Pensieve.
ummm Razor..
The NFL salary cap is about $115 million or so/team/year. 500k is 1/2 a million. So it is 1/230th of the salary cap in a sport with 53 players.
The loss of $500k if the player does not stay is not significant at all. TB won’t get suckered into bidding wars. We are in very good shape now and in the future.
When you only have around 3 million in salary cap room left for the year, $500k is 1/6th of your remaining allotment, which is significant money for a player that wouldn’t be on the roster. Razor is right, you don’t cut a very good return man (with a low salary) from a team with Super Bowl aspirations, especially when he was signed solely to return kicks and punts.
Ginn isn’t being cut until someone does a better job in Preseason doing Return duty.
Also, if you’re looking at the titles of the news wire Williams is supposed to have been the best Receiver thus far. ;)
Nathan Palmer is our best WR so far…after 5 practices…. and he hasn’t even played in an actual game yet. Cut Crabtree, Cut Ginn, go with all undrafted FA WR’s to save cap space. This board amuses me.
Rocket,
As usual, you are right on the money. The 49ers should cut TG and MC and go with Napalm and AJJ. It’s really the only thing that makes sense.
Grant in the red zone drills are they mixing running and passing or are they just passing? if they are running how does the running game look in the red zone? if they are primarily passing that could explain the defensive advantage.
When Bowman intercepted Smith that was in a seven-on-seven red zone drill with no pass rush.
Why is this so surprising? You don’t need to be Bill Walsh in saying that our defense is 5 times better then our offense. Good thing the Niners offense does not have to play the Niners defense in the games that count. Did David Ackers get any field goals today? I think he did quite well last year.
In all fairness to Smith and Johnson, AJ Jenkins and Manningham caused 2 of the picks by deflecting well thrown balls into interceptions.
Did it say somewhere the passes were “well thrown”? Alot of times tipped balls are due to an off target pass where the receiver is trying to make a very difficult catch. This happens quite a bit in the red zone where the windows are so tight and the field is compressed. Did I miss where it said the passes were well thrown?
I didn’t see that remark either Houston. But I much rather see the offense make and correct these problems in practice than during the season.
If the season could have a title it would be:
“The Year of No Excuses”
This team has all the talent needed to make a SB run. Continuity, Consistency, and Stability in all areas have been established.
“The Year of No Excuses” has a good ring to it.
read the pass to manningham was perfectly thrown…..but that was from a reporter….
Read Barrow’s recap. It is there.
I read the vitriol in this blog and wonder if I’ve wandered int the local Chic-a-fil? People here seem to find it impossible to be civil irregardless of what Junior runs up the flag. Sheesh…
There’s that word (irregardless) again (lol)!
King, we’re just 49er fans who sometimes have differing opinions.
As passionate fans (almost family) we have our moments, but in the end we really want the same thing; Another Super Bowl Ring!
Hopefully I haven’t offended you with some of my spirited convo with other fans.
AES
The only thing you have offended is the word “regardless” but irregardless how you say/spell it, the meaning of regardless is irregardless, regardless how you put it.
Thanks for the details Grant.
One thing that caught my attention was that 3 times in attempts to AJ the QB was picked off. Is he late on his breaks? Does he need to better disguise his routes? Or maybe just coincidence…..? I know they’re working with him.
OK, so we’re still a week away from 1st preseason game. Most years that I recall the Defense is ahead of the Offense in the summer, especially early. Then too, THIS Defense makes a lot of offenses look bad. We don’t have to go into Chicken Little mode.
Two of the interceptions came on deep passes to Jenkins down the sideline. Both times Jenkins did not jump or get a finger on the ball. The first pass was tipped and picked by Michael Thomas, and the second was picked by Deante Purvis. Purvis ran step-for-step with him and then jumped over him to make the interception look easy.
Thank you.
At the risk of getting you in trouble for discussing AJ, (just kidding), this seems consistent with the team’s own analysis of AJJ as a collegian; an area he needs to work more on.
One of us on here (Clemons , maybe?) compared AJJ’s potential skills to Roddy White’s game; perhaps due to measurables. That comparison didn’t work for me because Roddy as a former competitive wrestler has always been a guy who’d take the ball away from defenders with strength and aggressiveness. I’m not worried about Jenkins improving. I can believe the Team when they say he’s about where they thought he’d be.
Can you think of a better comparison for Jenkins? The Brandon Lloyd comparison doesn’t work for me, because Lloyd could always make acrobatic contested catches.
I can’t yet, I haven’t seen enough of him. A gut reaction is I agree he’s not a Lloyd-type; BL is also aggressive to the ball, just in a different style. Given Brandon’s light frame and moderate toughness, he could be a model for AJ as to how a smaller guy could do it. Perhaps before your time, but John Jefferson of SD and Mark Clayton of Miami we’re also smaller guys who went up and snatched the ball.
Clayton, despite his size was great against press. JJ adjusted to the ball in flight.
The guys I have in mind who AJJ might remind me of are quite accomplished, so I hate to hold that up to Jenkins. Calling someone “the next Willie Mays” is a curse. Let’s say I think of (but can’t yet compare him to) smooth and fast guys like Torry Holt or Marvin Harrison or Isaac Bruce. Harbaugh would slay me for saying that!
Holt, Harrison and Bruce – those are the players I think of when I watch Nathan Palmer.
Thanks again. I’m pleased to read that!
Yeah, I’m still at a disadvantage about the old eyeball test. I think we form impressions from what we see that are not always easily explained; a composite of clues; as in “a picture is worth 1,000 words”. So, I’ll wait. With Harbs probably not game planning preseason I don’t know how much or how soon I’ll get to see him. Or maybe we’ll see lots of AJ this summer and not too much NaPalm as JH maneuvers.
Jenkins reminds me of Reggie Wayne. Same body type. Hopefully Jenkins has that kind of career too.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kk4zHXXIFs4
0:35, 0:45, 1:11. Those are the kind of plays I haven’t seen Jenkins make – not in college or training camp.
We’ll have to wait and see what he can do Grant. I like his skill set and I think he’ll be a good player but nobody knows right now. Far too soon to give him a label at this point. My comparison to Wayne was in body type, and where they were drafted, but he obviously is not as polished as Wayne was coming out of the U.
I expect Jenkins will continue to struggle right throughout training camp. He reminds me a bit of Alex Smith in that I don’t think he’ll be very functional until he fully understands what he’s meant to be doing and can relax, play natural. He had the same issues at college, which is why he didn’t get much playing time his first 2 years. He’s going to take quite a bit of patience before we see the best of him.
NaPalm on the other hand looks a keeper, and has been impressive right off the bat. I don’t know whether he has any realistic chance of making the 53 this year, but I sure hope the 49ers can hold onto him on the PS.
Outside the 49ers, I am happy to see Greg Childs (my draft crush) is looking good in Vikings training camp. Rumours are already circulating he’ll be starting week 1 opposite Percy Harvin…
Any word on Jarius Wright?
I haven’t seen too much about Jarius Wright, but according to this report he’s expected to take on the slot receiver role.

OFF TOPIC
If you are not yet sick of Football Outsiders’ stats-based analysis, Niners Nation has a good interview with FO’s Danny Tuccitto (formerly of Niners Nation) on various 49ers topics:
http://www.ninersnation.com/2012/8/2/3215713/49ers-q-a-with-nn-writer-emeritus-football-outsiders-danny-tuccitto
In addition to the obligatory discussion of the Plexiglass Principle and FO’s 7.2 win projection, Tuccitto offers hope that the 49ers positive turnover differential will not fall off as much as some have feared, explains why Smith’s numbers will modestly improve, muses on Moss’s impact, predicts a considerable drop in Gore’s numbers, does little to calm the Anthony Davis-inspired queasiness in my stomach, approves of the team’s CBs and worries about safety depth. I found it informative and thought-provoking.
Thanks, Claude. That was an interesting read.
While I share your concerns about AD, there are some reasons for guarded optomism.
He’s still very young [22?], and showed improvement from 2010 to 2011. Admittedly, that improvement was from really bad, to mearly, bad. Also, he should benefit from a full off season of work.
Maybe this year he’ll go from bad to pretty good.
Yeah, we’re going to the Super Bowl with this loser. You man-crushers are so pathetic.
.
But who won the game? Oh, that’s right, it’s only training camp. The first week of training camp, no less. Could you wait until Smith throws three picks in a game, to restart the bashing?
No.
And that’s why your opinion carries virtually NO weight around here. Maybe another team would be more to your liking? I don’t think you’ll be missed…
Cohn,
When are we going to start talking about the Green Bay game. This AJ stuff is boring. I need some football meat and potatoes. All these posts about grammer and silly stuff like that shows that most of these people are just really bored.
I want to get to a post where it is all about football. Where we talk football and not abouot feelings.
I like your article about t=your perception, but some of these posts are just lame. Lets get some real fans in here and lets talk about football.
Aj is a kid in a mans game. There is no way to tell if he is a bust for a couple of years. Look at TO. MC in my opinion is a average WR at best. This guy is always injured. DHB was diffently a better pick then Crabtree. If any of you social media posters are footballs, then tell me what is your perdiction on the Green Bay game. I think we win it.
Larry
1. Up till last yeear, MC was waaayyy better than DHB. Last year though as our leading WR even, DHB was better. DHB made tougher catches, more big plays and all without being a jerk. And if you saw them both, no doubt. That said, neither are near “elite WR’s”.
2. This blog loves AR. They don’t say anything bad about him. The last playof game, never happened. So, they pick GB who never faced a D like ours last year to beat us.
We meanwhile did face offenses like theirs (NO/Philly) and beat them.
Note: AS in both games made great comebacks to beat “elite” QB’s. But he gets no credit because he is AS, not AR.
Is DHB the Raiders WR? If so, who the heck cares?
Hard not to throw interceptions when you are playing a) the best defense in the league and b)the best defense in the league that also happens to know all of the plays you are running. Wouldn’t most of the defenders be able to recognize the plays by now and just jump all the routes?
It was a superb grab by Bowman. Smith threw it to VD’s hands, and Bowman stretched out to get it.
Doesn’t the defense have a pretty big advantage though? Not only are they great athletes but they also know the plays from having seen them over and over in practice. These guys can crush a defense from a couple hours of film study I can only imagine how difficult they are to play against when they already know the play that is being run.
It seems a little early to start talking about the Packers game before we’ve played any preseason games yet. Sure, we know that Harbaugh isn’t going to show other teams too much, but I would like to get a glimpse of our new additions on offense in action to view the cohesion factor. What will the O-line look like in the 3rd preseason against the Broncos? Who will be starting at RG? Who will be the #1 & #2 WR’s? Moss and Crabtree with Manningham the #3? – or will the 49ers surprise us with Moss and Manningham at #1 & #2 with Crabtree the #3? Could Williams, who has been having a great camp, suddenly move up the depth chart – or even Jenkins, who has been struggling in camp, show he is a gamer in the previous two preseason games enough for the team to decide they don’t need Ginn at #4 (which could also be determined if they think LMJ can handle return duties). Then there is the Nathan Palmer factor, a player you may not want to put on the PS to be picked-up by another team (see Seahawks)? Will the 11 to 85 connection become the 11 to 82 (if Byham is cut and Manningham gets his #), 84 and 85 connections? Have to remember that that third preseason game is when we fans will likely see the starting lineup. The next game is the trash time game, so maybe that would be a good time to start talking the Packer game.
ninersrock
TC will determine WR order. If there is one now, it isn’t in stone.
……Cam Inman of the San Jose Mercury News offers 49ers notes, including this one: “Of Alex Smith’s five interceptions last season, his final two came in opponents’ end zones in back-to-back games, Nov. 20 against Arizona and Nov. 24 at Baltimore. None of his final 227 passes was intercepted, including 68 attempts in the playoffs.”….
What else would you expect when the QB is that careful with the ball?

Hey, good morning rocket,
I understand your concerns about not getting overly excited and Palmer. When I first seen his name on the roster I went to check him out on youtube. Obviously, you can’t really measure his college play vs NFL. But there are some things that stand out.
Ability to YAC
Ability to stretch the field
Ability to stop and excelerate
And most important, ablility to make all the catches.
I’m not crowning him this years Victor Cruz by any stretch (you’re right, he’s fighting for a roster spot), I just like some of the instinctive skills that are very visible when you see him play. Coach Roman certainly made note of this as well.
*about Palmer.
AES,
Nothing wrong with liking a player or being excited to see how he performs on the field. I’m referring to those who have fallen in love with reports from camp practices and are jumping way ahead of where things really are. DS wants to cut the expensive guys and go with undrafted FA’s. Others want to cut key ST’s players so we can keep him around. All this without seeing the guy play one snap of Pro Football. It’s amazing how many people overreact and want to base big decisions on so little info. I’d love to be their accountant.
I hope Napalm is Cruz part two, that would be fantastic. However, I’ve also seen TC superstarts every year that fizzle when the lights are on. If Napalm is as good as people hope, he gives the Niners a tough but nice decision to make. Always better when you don’t want to release a player than when you do.
@rocket:
But KORY SHEETS WAS OUR FUTURE!!!
Sure, DS, that’s my point, we don’t really know what the offensive unit is going to look like yet, so why discuss the Packer game as Larry suggested. I’m not sure if you meant the WR’s are going to be set from this last week of camp or if you are including preseason, too, since that is where players often make or break their way in position battles. The coaching staff needs to see them in game situations other than camp. I’m looking forward to seeing a glimpse of what we have this season on offense.
ninersrock
I’m including the pre-season games. Prettymuch the mini-camps as well. Everything football (playing) before the season starts. That isn’t technically correct, but I get tired of writing mini-camp/pre-season games. So, I call it all TC.
I just heard on knbr that Nate Palmer was zn opening act for Drake. Do I guess he can sing. How about him singing the national anthem at our first home game, in uniform!!! Pretty cool, I think…..
Grant
I know I asked this before but I dont know if u saw it. Did they throw any “jump ball” fades to RM or anybody else during RED ZONE drills?
DS, that works for me! I can’t wait for next week’s preseason game, though. I would love to see the first offensive play going deep to RM, one, to see if he’s still got the juice and two, to put other teams on notice that you better keep a safety over the top or pay the price. I can’t believe the speed the 49ers have this season. Sure, Ginn has speed, but he never scared a defense like RM can. I have to admit to having a fantasy play where the 49ers have the all-speed go route with RM, VD, KW, AJ and maybe LMJ all streaking toward the end-zone with Kaepernick (in for this play) throwing a 70 yard bomb to one of them. Sure, that’s fantasy, but it sounds like fun to me.
Ninersroc
What do you mean you can’t wait? Isn’t all this MC is the starter WR vs. MC may not be the starter and lose his job to some guy nobody heard of a few weeks ago appealing from a bunch of people who have no say at all in the matter?
:- )
My base offense dream next season is: VD/RM/KH/James/+1 other depending on the play. With that base, teams would have to fear the run/pass equally. VD + RM will force 2 teams routinely. That opens up the run game, spreads the LB/DB’s out if AS dumps it off to the RB out of the backfield, etc.
Though I also like your lineup, and thought of the same thing more than once. lol
In JH I trust.
DS, trusting JH and the rest of the coaching staff to making decisions on who starts is something I definately agree on. We fans, despite all the research we can do by watching highlights, gathering stats and listening to what our beat writers tell us, aren’t in any position other than to have our individual opinions based our interpretation of that data. And by the very nature of opinions, they are always debatable among us. It’s like guessing if there is a great white shark lurking beneath us while taking a swim in the ocean by just observing what we see on the surface. Someone might say, “Yes, sharks live in the ocean so they must be there!” while another proclaims, “I’ve been swimming these waters for years and never seen a shark!” Still, neither has seen below the surface, so who is right and who is wrong? I see that as the same situation we fans are in. The coaching staff are the ones observing from both below and above the sea, a vantage point none of fans enjoy. I’ll trust the one’s that see the whole picture.
Thanks for the response!

I may have missed it during the last two days, but who said that Crabtree may lose has job to someone no one heard of?
And with the exception of you and prime (and perhaps a couple of others), I don’t remember any mention that Crabtree’ job was on the line.
If you heard from a official source can you provide the link?
Thanks
AES
Oldcoach did. I think the most recent blog, though I could be wrong.
By the way, I never thought that. I think it more likely MM beats out MC, and KW is thebetter slot WR, soon that puts MC at #3 only on the outside. So, that is not a major role on this team.
I maintain that neither of us know, and JH has not announced it because he doesn’t know and that I have trust in whomever he picks to be where they should be in the pecking order. If that #1 is MC or KW, I trust JH 100%.
ninersroc
I am a firm believer in what Jim Mora Sr said in a press conference once regarding the media and what happens on the team:
“You think you know, but you don’t. And you never will.”
It applies to us bloggers for sure. When you scan thru all these posts of “I’m right, you’re wrong…” by everybody, keep it in the back our your mind that none of us (no side) are right.
Everybody keep that in their head, this site is fun.
And to show you I am not immune to, I said AS wouldn’t be announced the starter until the actual TC started. I am one of the strongest AS backers, and thought JH would wait on the starter. I was wrong. So, guess what? I didn’t know. I got over it though.
:- )
I have never seen Palmer play, so I can only go with what I read. At this point the reads are on the upside. Still there is only one position for sure that is open on the WRs slot maybe two if Ginn is cut which I doubt but could happen. Assuming that Moss, Crabs, Manningham, Jenkins, makes the team and Ginn will be the sixth that only leaves one spot open. Williams from reports is having a fine camp as well as Palmer. Nice to have that problem for a change, just another example of how far the Niners have come.

Well for someone who has repeatedly said that they adhere to the “In Harbaugh We Trust” adage, this is a direct contradiction. But it’s par for the course with you so no real surprise here.
OABTW, I guess calling MC a ‘jerk’ throws a wrench in your personal honor code of not calling names (lol)!
You continue to insult and interdict Coach Harbaugh, Alex Smith, and the entire 49er Organization with your MC hate laced rants.
Are you sure you’re not a double agent for the raiders posing as a 49er fan?
Oh well, here’s a reminder:
Michael Crabtree, 2012-13 Starting WR!
MC was a jerk. I won’t sugar coat it because he is a Niner. You will. Good for you. No other Niner was.
And you really are desperate. Oh well.
Soooo, you chose to break your personal honor code (never calling names) when it’s convenient, right?
When MC is making catches and scoring TD’ this season, I will throw-in a couple of cheers for you, while you’re wallowing in your hate (lol).
“ALL IN!”
AES
Take a break. FDM hit the nail on the head. You are very defensive of late.
Pick a season. MC has done at least 1 thing that was deserving of being called a jerk. Only in your view has he done nothing.
And that “rule” doesn’t apply to players who blame their coach/QB for not throwing it to him when he’s covered. It applies to bloggers. But that is not enforced when a person accuses me of being a racist. Or does not acknowledge my requests to not reply to my stuff. If you don’t obey somebody’s request to not reply to their posts, and accuse others of racism when you know full well their fav player of all time is black (JR) you are a jerk. Flat out. I’m plenty curtious. But I’m not going to lie either. That is one thing I NEVER DO!
Besides, what does JH have to do with DHB vs. MC? He was still at Stanford at the time.
Do you look for confrontations? This started off an eval of MC and DHB, and how MC’s attitude is viewed. You won’t find reports of DHB sitting out his rookie year, getting veterans courtesy in year 2, acting like a jerk and asking who the QB is in year 3 when he’s the one organizing mini-camps, and is pissed off at others because he can’t get himself open (against a CB who isn’t reminding anybody of Deion Sanders), which by the way is nearly half his job. The other near half is catching, which he isn’t the best at neither.
DHB has behaved better. And DHB was better than MC was last year. And DHB and MC are at best average at this point. You can’t handle that, don’t read my posts. MC has done a lot of jerky things since day 1. AS/VD/PW/JS/FG, the REAL leaders of the team haven’t. Don’t pretend MC is an angel and does not deserve to be called a jerk when he hasn’t gone thru 1 season without doing a jerky action.
I’m kind. But I won’t lie about a person because, dear God, they play for my team and are therefore incapable of being anything but a great person. Nope. Won’t do that.

“AES
Take a break. FDM hit the nail on the head. You are very defensive of late.
Pick a season. MC has done at least 1 thing that was deserving of being called a jerk. Only in your view has he done nothing.”
@DS
Well DS, unfortunately I’m not the only one who has a high view of MC.
Coach Harbaugh:
“The thing I feel for Michael — I know he’s feeling, too — he came (into camp) in such great shape,” 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh said. “He looked fantastic. We feel like we’ll get him back soon and we can pick right up.
“I don’t think this is going to be a major bump in the road. I think it’ll be a minor one. He’s chomping at the bit to get back out there and I anticipate that happening soon.”
Alex Smith:
“At this point, I’m not worried about it,” Smith said. “He had such a great spring and summer. I don’t know when he’s going to be back, but we look forward to his return. Hopefully, it’s not too long. I know I feel good about what he got done this offseason. It’s a long camp. I feel like he’ll be back and get some good work in.”
Still not convinced?
Oh well DS, time to let the ‘spinning’ begin.
tick… tick… tick… tick… tick… etc……..
Hahahahaha!
“ALL IN!” bud.
@DS
Maybe you should check out Matt Maiocco’ post today regarding Crabtree.
You’ll find that I’m not the only one with a high view of MC.
DARE TO READ IT?
DS makes his own rules up every day, if he does not like what JR says, she says that JR knows nothing about QB’s. She says that Fouts and Marino are not elite QB’s because they never won a Super Bowl, but if people are critical of his idol, she says AS can’t do it by himself, their are 11 players on a team. He is full of propaganda and twists. How do you even have a intelligent conversation regarding QB’s when she does not recognize that Fouts and Marino are in the top 10 QB’s of all time.
I am sure the Smithers would acknowledge Fouts and Marino as elite QB’s, except DS, he is clueless, or what ever sex she pretends to be.
Well that solves it, Maiacco thinks MC is great, so should all of us. Kinda like how Cossell hates Alex? AES I think this whole Crabtree debate is way over your head, time to step back a little partner and let it go. Whatever it is you do or use to relax, crank it up a couple notches bro!
(lol) Prime.
Evidently you did not read Maiocco’ article before making you comment huh? Before making a statement that makes Maiocco look bad, try reading his article bud.
AES
Wow JH likes his player? That is like 1 in a million!
Hey AES. What does JH say about AJ/KW/RM/MM/NP/everybody else? You are so focused on MC, do you not know we have other WR’s?
Taken out of cotext, JH will be starting 6 WR’s and 5 RB’s and 2TE’s, 4 QB’s and have some defensive players in as well. How many players is that at now in at once?
You are only proving me right. JH supports all of his players. MC hasn’t learned that trait. I did at 6 years of age. JH hasn’t annonunced his starter, did he?
In JH I trust. The slogan isn’t “In AES I trust” Deal with it. JH chooses the players/starters. Not you.
But DS, AES is all in! All his panties in a knot!
Prime
Well, if AES is “All in” with all these players, his panties would be twisted in all sorts of directions. But you’d think him to be mellow if that were so.
lol
Here you go DS, ” Michael Crabtree (calf) missed his sixth practice of training camp Friday, but Jim Harbaugh didn’t sound particularly concerned. “He came in in such great shape,” Harbaugh said. “… I don’t think this is going to be a major bump in the road. I think it’s a minor one.”
Straight from the coaches mouth : )
Prime and DS, Sure sounds like JH thinks Crabtree is out of shape and lazy. Wheewww! You two are awesome!!
Q: WR Michael Crabtree hasn’t played in an exhibition game since he’s been with the 49ers. He’s missed a week of camp. How much does missing that week set him back?
“The thing I feel for Michael, I know he’s feeling too, is that he came in in such great shape. (He) looked fantastic and we feel like we’ll get him back soon and we can pick right up. I don’t think this is going to be a major bump in the road. I think it’s going to be a minor one. He’s chomping at the bit to get back out there, and I anticipate that happening soon.”
Q: Do you think just because he and QB Alex Smith have had such a body of work during the off-season program that that’ll be easier to pick up? That the one week isn’t detrimental?
“Both of them had fantastic off-seasons. Michael was lean, in shape, tip-top shape, moving extremely well. I don’t anticipate any issues when he gets back.”
Jack, what has MC demonstrated in three years to be labelled a #1WR and why is he considered an automatic starter?
Prime,
He has improved every year, and is the best receiver on this team. His coach, and teammates rave about him, and was the teams leading receiver last season
Question for you. Why he isn’t the #1 receiver? Can you do it without bringing up the holdout and training camp injuries? Remember he has only missed 2 games in his career due to injury, his team threw the fewest passes in the NFL last season, and his previous two offensive coordinators are no longer even in the NFL.
(lol) Prime. You might want to (actually) read Maiocco’ article bud.
I read it, I don’t see anything pro or against. Maiacco is the most
impartial writer with no agenda whatsoever. For you to use him as an “ally” for your pro Crabtree campaign is a joke!
How does it feel to announce a winner and be 100% wrong? What a downer AES.
Argument was never about if JH compliments MC. Maybe you thought it was.
That’s it! Does explain why you are so lost and your replies don’t answer my questions (Has JH announced his starters, and how do you know if JH doesn’t know? And if JH knows, why hasn’t he announced it?)
You haven’t come close to answering any of them after I bet 200 posts.
And how do you balance this MC stuff he said with what Roman said yesterday about NP? Because that was very complimentary as well. Or the things said of KW/TG/and so forth?
There is NO argument. Harbaugh giving Crabtree high praise has been a known fact for some time.
C’mon DS, you’re always a day late and a ‘fact’ short.
Your incessent drivel about the MC’ coaches and teammates not liking him (only giving the mandetory company line) has been put to rest for months.
Hey, but drama seekers can’t live without drama. They even create stories that atre totally unfounded and not supported by thos they claim to support them.
Sad DS.
Sad indeed.
AES
Still waiting to hear how JH thinks about all players in TC not named MC.
Or do you only hear what you want to hear?
Grant
Check with your IT guys. How did this happen?
Well, just ask him (Harbaugh) DS. Or have you been banned from the facilities (lol)?
AES
Still waiting to hear how JH thinks about all players in TC not named MC.
Or do you only hear what you want to hear?
How does what he says about MC betterthan what he says about NP/KW/RM/MM/etc? I’ll help you here. JH said we have 4 QB’s he’s fine taking snaps. Complimented each a ton. Then immediately announced AS the starter.
Has he done the same for MC? WR’s? Hmmmmm…..
DS:
“Hey AES. What does JH say about AJ/KW/RM/MM/NP/everybody else? You are so focused on MC, do you not know we have other WR’s?”
@DS
Hahahaha! Care to review your last three days of posting? I think you may even surprise yourself on how hits you directed at MC. Although you will conveniently dismiss the last few days, let me alert you to the fact that I’m not the only one who has focused on MC.
Only difference is, my focus has been positive while yours has been negative of MC.
But don’t take my word for it.
While you say MC is lazy – Harbaugh says MC is chomping at the bit to come back.
While you say MC is out of shape – Harbaugh says his is tip-top shape.
While you say MC is a jerk – Harbaugh calls MC terrific.
While you say MC has critics (in the Org who just say good things because that’s what they’re suppose to do – Harbaugh calles him fantastic.
Ok DS, time to start the ‘spin’ tactics, but be careful this time. Because you may be spinning your coach’s words.
tick… tick… tick… tick… tick… etc…….
OBTW, tell your buddy Prime to actually take time to read Maiocco’ article before accusing (him) the messenger of siding with MC (l0l).
And not a single answer to my questions in that long winded rant.
So, you cycle the same material. Material I know. Material that does not say MC is the starter.
AES
Tell me in your own words what the issue we are discussing is. Because you don’t seem to know.
Actually DS. It’s new material put forth by Harbaugh and Alex Smith on 8/3/2012. C’mon DS, try to keep up around here bud (lol).
Same thing AES. New day, same things said. Are you able to see a pattern in how JH talks about his players yet?
Find something where JH insults a player. Or AS insults one. They don’t. Does that mean they keep everybody or everybody remains a starter? I don’t expect an answer. You just ask them. Answering would require you to think and ask the question, “Do I AES know more than JH?” And your answer would have to be “yes” because you know MC is a starter and JH to date does not.
And you have yet to answer my question. Any of them after 200 posts. You really don’t get it. Sad.
PS Did AS/JH say something good about AJ? Yeah. Thought so. Or the defense? Or JS (I did read it)?
AES. LMAO!!!! +AZILLION…………WHEEEEEEEEW! Bottoms up Tahoe bound again for the next two weekends. VROOOOM!
Have a great time MD!
*many hits
DS, Prime.
Forget I told you guys to take your comedy act on the road.
Two guys in the same room obsessed with ‘panties’ may not go over very well (lol).
A little touchy after reading Harbaugh’ and Alex’ comments today eh?
What’s next? You guys saying that coach/AS wear panties too, for saying positive things about MC?
Time to move on guys. There’s no need to vent your empty/unfounded hatred anymore. Especially after todays comments from the Head Coach and Alex Smith.
“Just let it go” (Rambo I).
“ALL IN!”
Michael Crabtree, 49ers 2012-13 Starting WR
AES
The only people using or insinuating “hate” is you. Prime and I have said nothing like “hate”. And you have a couple of haters cheering you on.
Think those 2 factors point to something? I do. Check out who is sending you the checks backing you AES. A simple rule all politicians follow.
DS, AES is locked in, he so into this he can’t see the forest for the trees. Athletes like Crabtree either turn it around and step up or end up opening car washes.
The debate has been played, let’s not turn this into another Alex thing. Week one we will know everything we need to know about #15.
Prime
Seriously now, has AES actually answered any questions we’ve posed? He copy/pastes fine. But the questions…not answered. Just more acusations and telling us MC led the team in receptions like we don’t know that.
Us 2 have answered every question of theirs. It really is like having a 1-way conversation. You say/ask, and nothing is answered. I asked AES if he knows what the issue is we are discussing, and…no reply.
It won’t turn into another AS thing. At least from our end. We don’t put up racial posts, rename MC into a woman’s name, etc. They want to go that road, more power to them.
Sad that AES thinks that if you don’t agree with him you must “hate”. But it is his right.
In JH I trust!
PS At least we got the blog off of AS for a while there! lol
@DS “has AES actually answered any questions we’ve posed?
This is what they do, they avoid the underlying issue and bring into the conversation things completely unrelated.
I still want to know and I asked this 3 days ago:
Question: What has Crabtree done in the past 3 years to warrant being labelled a #1 WR and why are some convinced he is an automatic starter?
Shoot prime. I wanted AES to answer it without using cheat sheets. lol
Your question to AES is largely the point of discussion. And AES is consistent. Didn’t answer your question a few days ago, and doesn’t know the point of discussion here.

BINGO!
So unless you believe Harbaugh is lying in his praise about his team, why do you continue to deride MC who he has spoke highly of on more then a few occassion?
Hmmmmmm, I’m no therapist, but the analysis for you and prime can only mean one thing; hate!
Embrace the truth DS, we all know how you feel about MC, except you for you maybe (lol).
How could you come on here each day and call yourself ALL IN and hammer our leading WR in the same sentence? See something wrong with this picture?
AES
I told you about the leading tackler for the Raiders a few years back was not on the team the following year. So precedent is set for a stat leader ton ot make the team. I’m lowering it to not being a starter, and you think it’s impossible.
You of course didn’t reply. So, it never happened. Except in the real world.
