SANTA CLARA — Aldon Smith spoke Thursday afternoon in the 49ers media tent. Here’s what he said about the defense’s No.1 ranking against the pass and the state of the pass rush.
Q: You guys are ranked No.1 in pass defense right now. How much do you guys take pride in that?
ALDON SMITH: We all take pride in it. That’s all of us working together – safeties covering, corners covering, everybody doing their job. Everybody making plays.
Q: The defense’s sack total is down this season but Vic Fangio says getting pressure isn’t an issue. Do you feel the same way?
ALDON SMITH: Selfishly, we’d all like to have more sacks, but I think teams are little more prepared for us than they were last year. Quarterbacks are getting the ball out faster. All-in-all, we’re hurrying throws and creating pressure, so we’re doing our job.

Grant is it really necessary to dice up all of these transcript articles into 2 paragraph blog entries?
Couldn’t it be condensed into one entry with a “QB Smith’s confidence, Aldon on opponents’ prep, and more as Niners gear up for Cards” title?
I’m making the discussion more manageable so people can talk about one topic at a time.
Come now Grant.
All discussions end up talking about AS anyway. So forget about splitting it all apart.
Although it does get rid of the blogs quicker from the home page so that people don’t dwell on stuff for long. So that in’t a bad thing.
How is that edit option coming Grant?
I like that you are splitting it all up, especially the in game blog. I don’t post alot but I like to read the comments and it makes it so much easier to read comments about one topic at a time vs deciphering hundreds of comments. Also makes it easier to sneak a quick read at work!
It’s just four topics though, Alex Smith, Aldon Smith, Brown and Harbaugh. It ended up on eleven pages. If I wanted to comment on Aldon Smith in his 2nd year, I don’t know which page to comment on. People may be chatting on one of the other two and never see what I wrote. It’s hard to keep track of the newest conversation.
