Alex Smith on Vernon Davis: “Hopefully we’ll get him involved.”

SANTA CLARA — Alex Smith did not throw a pass to Pro Bowl tight end Vernon Davis last Thursday Night. Here’s what Alex Smith said about that Thursday at his locker.

Q: You didn’t throw any passes to Vernon Davis last week. How important is it for you to get him involved in the offense early and often?

ALEX SMITH: He’s a key for us. He’s a great player, a guy who really gets us going at times and a playmaker for us. He’s a guy we’re always trying to get involved. It’s the truth. Always. He’s a focal point for us. You never know how the game’s going to unfold, though. My job is not to go out there and force things. Let it come to us and hopefully we’ll get him involved.

Hopefully give me a break, VD was wide open on many plays, yea I saw Jack’s blog with VD wide open on several plays. He lacks the vision , lacks the mechanics and poor pocket presence. He would make Jerry Rice , just a ordinary receiver. Get it going AS, hang in their, just don’t dump it for 3 yards when it is 3 and 21.

I’m not ordinarily the spelling police, but since I can’t find anything good to say about this post, it’s hang in there, not their. Just sayin’. Also. the only time I can stand to read articles written by Grant Cohn is when he’s posting direct quotes from players and/or coaches. So, nice article Grant.

A Game manager’s jo is not to e a hero. Game managers are not heros. Alex Smith knows his role. He knows that he can’t win the game. He understands that he just can’t keep throwing picks to lose it. That means 16- 25 155 yards. good job Alex! Manager your way out of here!

Not a newsworthy story except for those who focus in on just Smith.

Good point MW…….does Grant choose subject matter to that is sure to raise the hackles of the readers? I think he does…afterall, what you rather read, comments that both degrade and support Alex Smith and the nonsense that follows, or something that actually has a bearing on the Niners success like the play of the offensive line? The development of Alex Boone and Mike Iupati as two ‘Caterpiller D-9′ (road grading) offensive guards? Offensive line discussion won’t prompt the outpouring of opinions, simply because most fans pay absolutely no attention to the line play, and know little, if anything at all about it….besides, I honestly think that when fans post negative and degrading comments about Alex Smith, it makes them feel good…..so consequently, we continue to get Alex Smith subject matter, and the childish name calling and bad blood between the fans..
