Alex Smith to throw out first pitch at Giants’ playoff game Saturday night

Alex Smith will throw out the first pitch tonight at AT&T Park for the San Francisco Giants’ playoff game against the Cincinnati Reds.

A few hours before the game, the Giants’ manager, Bruce Bochy, was asked about Smith throwing out the first pitch:

“This club has a lot of 49er fans. We may take a look at him, too. He’s got a pretty good arm,” Bochy said, giggling.

I just hope Smith doesn’t go Baba Booey or Chris Rock when he throws out the first pitch.

  2. Coffee's for closers says:

    Go Cal Bears!!

    • Coffee's for closers says:

What happened to your Bruins yesterday Grant other then losing 43-17 to the unranked Bears?

  3. Johnny Christo says:

Please don’t use the word “giggling” in connection with a man.

  4. Prime Time says:

They should stack the mound and force him to go deep.

  5. AES says:

    Anthony Davis 2.0 (lol).

I agree Grant. Somehow a grown man giggling doesn’t sound appropriate.

  6. Hov says:

Lol haaa he prob throw it high lol some days you have it some days you don’t right Alex?

  7. AES says:

I have Alex throwing a strike. But if the ball falls a few feet short CK7 will take it and run it across home-plate (lol).

    Go Giants!

  8. Crazy E says:

    He’ll take a sack.

    • Crazy E says:

Go Giants! Living in So Cal while the Bay is going off is a tough pill to swallow. Enjoy it up there folks.

  9. 23jordan/ WARM UP KAEPERNICK says:

Posey is safe, Smith usually aims at the face mask!

  10. 55Niner says:

    Hey Jordy….
Everybody here knows that you have no respect for Alex Smith, so why don’t you give it a rest for a while? If it bothers you that much that AS is the starting QB for the 49er’s, why don’t you show some nuts, and rag on Jim Harbaugh and Greg Roman? You’ve been beating on AS for God only knows how long, and things haven’t changed to suit you….Harbaugh and Roman make the decisions so rag on them. Your hourly rants have that odor of rotting flesh.

    • BigP says:

Dude, he won’t stop. It’s easier to just sit back and enjoy the animated vitriol of his anti-Smith rants. They are usually over the top, but they are comedy gold.

    • neal says:

55, Why does it bother you so much about Jordans rants? Who really cares. The place would be a bore, with the Smither zombies.

    • 23jordan/ WARM UP KAEPERNICK says:

      55 Niner,

Only the truth hurts. If I were slamming the 3rd string safety, it wouldn’t be a problem. Remember, I just post the comment, I don’t ask you to read it . Big P was right. They won’t stop.

      • YoungNiner says:

Alex Smith received a thunderous ovation as he threw out the 1st pitch

      • 55Niner says:

It doesn’t hurt me on the least…I could really care less who the starting QB is, as long as the 49ers win, because at the end of the day thats all that matters to me…. Your rants lend creedence to the idea that stats are more important to you than getting the wins…

      • Hoferfan67 says:

        55Niner,

Please comment on here more often. You should be heard and it would be at least one comment that is NOT drama driven. Go 9ers!!

      • 23jordan/ WARM UP KAEPERNICK says:

        Hofer,

Get back in the bed. You woke up on the wrong side. Typical Smither on Sunday morning. Hoping and praying smith doesn’t crap all over the field. Get out of your feelings.

      • Hoferfan67 says:

Jordo, why don’t you pat yourself on the back some more! Entertainer!!! Now I’ve heard it all! LOL

      • 23jordan/ WARM UP KAEPERNICK says:

        Hofer,

You spent last week crying about the playcalling. You spent last year crying about the receivers. You’ll spend next year crying about Smith. Now uoure crying daily about my comments. Theres No crying in football. Enjoy the game!

      • Hoferfan67 says:

Jordo, it’s not good to eat sour grapes so early in the morning! All this drama because JH wants/needs AS as his QB. You rant on here continuously thinking JH just may read your gibberish. Obviously, your tactics are working. You need a new strategy. I gave you the address to 9er headquarters a few months ago, do you want me to post it again??

      • BigP says:

“All this drama because JH wants/needs AS as his QB.”

I heard plenty of drama after CK almost scored two TD’s last week. Jordan is funny because he embraces the villain role whereas the Smithers try to get you to convert your religion.

      • BigP says:

*And this is coming from somebody that likes CK’s potential, but realizes that he is not ready to start for this team.

      • 23jordan/ WARM UP KAEPERNICK says:

        Hofer,

You don’t really believe what you just wrote do you? Yeah, I’m really bitter. I’m enjoying the Snithers gripping every week, knowing full well that the noise is getting tighter. Can you say REGRESS! Regressing = Alex Smith. Have you found a new team for next year yet? The writing is on the wall? Maybe you’re not reading it! Bye bye discount doublecheckdown Smith!

      • Hoferfan67 says:

Jordo, answer this question, who is the starting QB? It seems they would replace AS if they thought it would be better for the team correct!! Again, lay off the sour grapes in the early am. Makes you even more bitter and the hyperbole doesn’t match your agenda.

  11. Coffee's for closers says:

Holy wow to FSU losing to NC state

  12. Houston 9er says:

Did Smith check down to the 3rd base coach?

  13. Nick says:

Golden Bears are still beating UCLA. Nice

  14. ninermd says:

Lmao!!! Grant this was a punch line waiting to be finished. I got some good laughs at some of these posts. My winner go’s to the “did he check down to the third base coach” that was classic.
Runner up would have to be “if he throws it short have CK run it in”
    Good comedy.

Well giants fans both teams are down a game. And to be honest this format of rewarding the lesser team is ridiculous. Selig needs to retire. Loooooong day ahead for me tomorrow. Wheeeew! Some must win games in the morning

  15. Willie niner says:

All of you guys in this blog are the best LOL… whether you love AS or you hate him keep it up…I rarely write but allways read all of your comments… I wouldn’t want to be in another blog you guys are the best….this is pure entertainment keep it up GO NINERS…….

  16. jrmccabe says:

Alex was better than “give it up” Casilla!

  17. AES* says:

    @Hofe

C’mon bud. All done in fun. You know that every player is open to poking fun of, and a daily dose of sarcasm.

Didn’t you and few others take a couple of shots at CK7 lasy week?

No biggie. No harm, no foul.

  18. Comcast says:

Watching the Ravens-Chiefs game, Joe Flacco has become a GREAT quarterback. Alex Smith, not so much.

Confident, great vision and pocket presence, sees the field, gets rid of the ball quickly and is accurate.

    Alex? Ehh, not so much.

“AES, what are you talking about?? I was responding to 55Niner.”

    @Hofe
No probs Hofe. It just seemed out of place in a thread that had become a place of poking fun of AS throwing the first pitch.

No problem with 55′ posts either, although reprimending 23J seemed over the top since many here were tossing jokes.

We all know what to expect from 23J. Why some here continue to rattle his cage beats me (lol).

    • Prime Time says:

Why do some continue to rattle his cage?

Because there is no greater satisfaction than seeing the haters like 23 look all smart when they make prediction and then only to come crashing back down to earth looking so foolishly. How enjoyable was it to see 23 wallow like a sad puppy when JJ was cut? Awesome!

If anyone thinks we take him or you other haters seriously, c’mon man! It’s just a game we like playing with you clowns because you are always wrong. Joking or not, the predictions, stats and arguements you guys bring is elementary. It’s fun slapping trolls so I encourage the hate, don’t ever stop!
      STACK THE BOX BUFFALO, PLEASE!

      • 23jordan/ WARM UP KAEPERNICK says:

You don’t really want to see Buffalo stack the box. That would bring Smith even closer to being benched. Stacking the box puts Smith in jittery, panic mode. If Buffalo is smart, you won’t have to ask them to stack the box. It will be done when they come out of the tunnel. We win because we can run against that. Smith can’t throw against it.
As far as you slapping someone around. That’s as elementary as your ability to spell. Remember Y-O-U-R means to show ownership. Y-O-U-R-E is the same as you are! Slap that around for a while!
Bwahahahahahahaha! Prime, I own you! You are a classic! Not quite in my league! Keep trying though. I think you’ve reached YOUR ceiling, just like Smith. Noticed how I used YOUR??? Bwahahahahahahaha!

      • ribico says:

        >>Y-O-U-R-E

Jordo, is your keyboard missing an apostrophe? Much like your brain missing functioning cells?

      • Prime Time says:

You will get your wish then, BUF, give 23 his wish, STACK THE BOX!!!!

C’mon 23, I love hearing you squeal when YOUR wrong. Make some more predictions and keep the blog alive!
        STACK THE BOX CHAN, PLEASE!!!!

    • 23jordan/ WARM UP KAEPERNICK says:

      AES,

I was wondering if anyone would notice that. 55niner forgot to address 15 other jokes tears. The beauty in all this is I get it. Hofer and the Smithers don’t bother me at all. Hofer is harmless. As harmlee as Smith is! Lol. Go Niners!

      • txtree49er says:

Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain – and most fools do.

STACK THE BOX CHAN! PLEASE!!!!! For welcher Willy!

      • 23jordan/ WARM UP KAEPERNICK says:

        Tree,

What’s wrong, must you always be a wet blanket on a vold day. What a sad fellow. You need a hug bro. Poor guy. Sundays with football are not always business. Nothing to complain about for me. I’m great today. How are you little buddy?

      • txtree49er says:

So are you going to support the 49ers, or complain all day? I certainly do not need a hug, maybe a beer, but that can be solved when I get off work. Are you going to whine all day?

    • Brotha Tuna says:

Txtree is right on, Jordo. You’re the one from Bizarro World. The Ben Franklin quote is the post of the day so far.

  20. Hoferfan67 says:

AES, no worries, but yes I was responding to 55Niners excellent read that put Jordo in his place.

    • 55Niner says:

      Hof…
Thanks for the props…I read the blog daily, and in all honesty, the subject matter for the most part, is pretty good. However, I get into the comments, and regardless of the subject matter, they turn to Alex Smith with Jordo usually leading the charge…. like I said, I really don’t care who’s under center, Alex, Kaep or Tolzein, it doesn’t matter, as long as the good guys win…..winning is the only stat that matters in the NFL, because in the long run, the rest is trivial.

      • txtree49er says:

        +1.

      • AES* says:

        @55 Niner

That was my point about 23J. He always leads the charge regarding the AS razzing.

It only turns crazy when others reply. Let 23J have his little corner. Why go out of the way to shake his cage?

If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years on this blog, it’s that no stats, words or argument will change 23J’ thinking of AS.

Perhaps it’s time to except it and just move on.

  21. txtree49er says:

I see the DRAMA has already started…

All I want is a Niner Win..

  22. Brotha Tuna says:

Wuzzup with the birds? Can’t keep hold of the rock for s*#^. They’ve gotten some back, but geez.
Elsewhere, my picks of Atl & Bungles starting to look shaky.

    • ribico says:

Vick is trading picks for fumbles. Eagles need to deal with that situation if they expect to get anywhere this season.

      • 23jordan/ WARM UP KAEPERNICK says:

        Rubico

In the words you Smithers use. “He’s still getting the W!” Only he actually helps the team with his play.

      • 23jordan/ WARM UP KAEPERNICK says:

        See what I mean. 7-7

      • 23jordan/ WARM UP KAEPERNICK says:

        Check that , 10-7

      • Prime Time says:

PHI losing dumb A$$! But if Vick comes back and wins, who cares about the picks. Winning is all that matters. Repeat it a couple times, might make sense!

C’mon BUF, STACK THE BOX FOR 23!

      • ribico says:

In a Smither’s (Harbaugh’s) gameplan, he wouldn’t be getting the W. He’d been pulled about 10 turnovers ago.

      • Prime Time says:

Rib, in 23′s fantasy league the QB that can’t read defenses and wing it around for 300 yards and loses, that is what counts. You know, close your eyes and PULL THE TRIGGER! 23 gangsta style!

  23. Grant Cohn says:

Rueben Randle is leading the New York Giants in first-half receiving: 5 catches for 78 yards.

    • 23jordan/ WARM UP KAEPERNICK says:

      Grant,

That one drop wasn’t good. Jenkins could have those same numbers today in the Giants if Manning were throwing him the ball instead of Smith. WR’s die in SF with Smith. 2 catches for 17 yards a game won’t get you to the hall of fame. Alex Smith would make Jerry Rice look average.

  24. Brotha Tuna says:

11:37am. Anyone else watching the Eagles/Steelers now? I’ve got no sound from Fox Network on Sonoma County Comcast (not even commercials, hahahaha). Oh! Just came back.

  25. Brotha Tuna says:

Hot damn, Jordo! Way to go! We’ve found a point of agreement, hahaha! Go Niners! ; >)
Actually, when I saw that last replay I was glad I wasn’t Vick. It’s a lot safer and more comfortable at my house.

  26. 23jordan/ WARM UP KAEPERNICK says:

    Kirk Cousins> Alex Smith.

  27. Stan says:

I don’t know if the radio stations are getting smarter or because its FM..but nice to hear the radio isn’t AHEAD of the telly. A little behind is fine -ehem,so to speak.
