Jason Witten, tight end for the Dallas Cowboys, caught 18 passes for 167 yards against the New York Giants.
Perry Fewell, the Giants’ defensive coordinator, used single coverage, double coverage and combination coverages on Witten, but he still got open and Tony Romo still got him the ball.

Clearly the Patriots would have won today even if Gronk hadn’t caught two TD’s but the Cowboys lost even though they continue to find ways to get passes to their tight end. Neither of these examples proves anything!
Comparing the 49ers to the Patriots or Cowboys is apples and oranges. Those are passing teams. The 49ers are not by any measure a passing team.

Vernon Davis is not a tight end like Jason Witten and Gronkowski, the niners have never used him like other teams use those two. He rarely gets many touches in a game and teams easily shut him out of games by double covering, also Lightning snake smith throws the ball in a different manner than would be good for that gamestyle for VD.

As a sports fan born and raised in the bay area I’ve never quite grasped how people cam like one sport team in a city but a complete opposite in a different sport. Like being a dodger fan and a Niner fan.
I don’t like baseball, its slow boring and lets be honest, a love of sports is based on the memories we associate with them I have no positive memories of baseball, my family werent baseball fans. Football however is intense strategic, and rivetting. Baseball is a bore. Also this is a niners football blog not a baseball blog, if you want to talk baseball make a blog for baseball or heck, grants an awesome guy ask him to make you a baseball thread I bet ou he would do it if you asked really nice.
Strictly your opinion, nothing is better to me than October baseball. I played baseball all of my childhood and high school, had very positive feeling about the game.

Respectfully, I’m a Blue Jays fan, (oh, I yearn for the glory days…..) When they won back-to-back World Series, I was in my early 20′s, and it was some of the greatest times I’ve ever had in my entire life.
I am also a die-hard 49ers fan, and have been since I was 9 years old. I couldn’t care less about the San Fran Giants beating the Detroit Tigers.
Thats exactly what I mean a persons opinion on sports is soley based on sentimental attatchments they have to the sport, most people cant admit this I am happy to see you could Neal. That being said the only time I have ever enjoyed a baseball game is when I was with friends that loved the game. Seeing them get excited about the game almost imparted some apreciation of the game, by my self though watching baseball is almost as entertaining as watching golf, bowling or Nascar I can’t enjoy it without some one there whooping in jubilation over home runs.
I don’t double post, however depending on the mood I am in I do post under several different screen names, this one I am using currently is merely for humor purposes the name in of itself is rediculous. Sometimes I think Grant writes this stuff that makes no sense just to rile up the readers. Still, I’m not sold on his grasp of football. Maybe he really doesn’t understand that the Niners do not have the same kind of offense that Dallas has (soft running game and over-dependence on pass that leads to a plethora of interceptions and losses). Note that he completely ignored the less-than-stellar, Alex Smith-like numbers posted by Eli Manning in the win. Maybe he really doesn’t get it that if Alex Smith was allowed to throw 3-4 interceptions per game, then Vernon would perhaps have big numbers, too.
Speaking of Vernon, did anyone see the the Sound Fx half hour on him on NFL channel? It was a good watch on a Sunday afternoon with only two games and no Niners.

The reason he throws so few passes is due to the training he recieved from chuck norris this off season, if he throws one to many he could cause a reciever to get internal injuries or kill them due to the force in which chuck norris taught him to throw the ball. Before AS came back in halftime in Houston, many (not me) said VD was a bust.
Any credit going to how great VD is needs to be viewed in large part to AS. AS was the QB who threw those TD’s to VD. VD himself credits AS a great deal. Pretending any QB could/would be great with VD is 100% false. Several other QB’s actually were given VD to throw too, and none of them made VD into a Multi Pro-Bowl TE. Those QB’s were the guys who were making VD a bust.
AS and VD are fine. They have the relationship that AS needs to have with at least one of his WR’s.

You make statements or start topics or even ask questions and then basically you either move on to something else or go steep some tea or maybe go take a nap, who knows. What I do know is that you don’t offer any counter-point, or take any time to further the discussions that you are starting.

I’ve seen some pointless threads before but this one is a clear frontrunner. About 5 posts related to the topic and a bunch of flaming garbage after that.
The point of this thread was to show that there are ways to get the ball to your best players. The Niners need to figure out how to get it into Davis’ hands more often. He is a difference maker that can create big plays and they need to get creative with him if teams are trying to take him away.
