Cosell says Seahawks DBs probably got away with penalties against 49ers

Here’s what NFL Films analyst Greg Cosell said on The Murph and Mac Show Thursday morning about the Seattle Seahawks cornerbacks’ rough play against the 49ers wide receivers last Thursday night.

Q: Did your film study show the Seahawks DBs were too physical with the 49ers?

COSELL: “Clearly there were plays when you watch the film, you say, ‘Boy, that probably should be a pass interference penalty.’ [Jim Harbaugh’s] concern shouldn’t be with the DBs. His concern should probably be with the officials, but you can’t make those comments because then you get fined.”

Q: What were the DBs doing?

COSELL: “Any corner that plays press-man and relies on physicality, there’s going to be a very fine line between five yards and what happens after five yards. The rule states that after five yards, you can no longer keep your hands on a receiver. So when you play physical press-man, those lines are always blurred.”

I’ve said it before, those guys were playing very physical without question. But I think if the ref allow it, than by all means go for it

I don’t blame the seattle db’s for getting away with it, but I also don’t blame Harbaugh for bringing it to the NFL’s attention.

Richard Sherman is an ultimate tool though. His tweeting the picture of Brady after they beat the pictures with “u mad bro?” on it, and now changing his twitter name to Optimus Prime in preparation for his matchup with Megatron. Roy Williams named Calvin Johnson Megatron, and Sherman thinks highly enough of himself to give himself a transformer name in response.

      What a tool.

Does the NFL have a review system for the referees that goes over games and uses the film to improve the refs’ performance for the next week, like the teams do in preparation for a game?

    • AngusinCanada says:

I believe they do, and they score the ref’s performance, with the guys doing the best getting the big playoff games.

Is there anything worse than crying after a win? Give Jim Harbaugh an extra larger diaper! What a bunch of poor winners! Whaaaa, Whaaaa, Whaaaaa

“Is there anything worse than crying after a win?”

      Yes. Blogging those whines.

      @ Hawk_Eye:

Yes, I would imagine that losing is worse.

Fortunately for us, that doesn’t seem like it is going to happen while Harbaugh coaches the 49ers and Carroll coaches the Seahawks.

      Hey Hawk,

there is probably nothing worse than being 0-4 against the Niners and 0-3 against Harbaugh.

That sting you feel is your pride f’ing with you.

    • jomona says:

The Hawks DB Richard Sherman posts pictures of Brady looking at the ground after the loss to the seahawks with the words “you mad bro?” and you are calling Harbaugh out for answering a question about the obvious pass interference that was not being called?

Typical Hawk fan…. to stupid to even understand.

    • 9er4life says:

We can get him an extra large diaper, not an extra larger diaper! Donkey…

    • thehindu19 says:

      Hey Hawk_eye

Someone needs to remind “the Shermanator” or whatever he wants to call himself that they didn’t win the game or the last 3 vs Harbaugh’s 49ers so maybe he should keep quiet

DBs cheated….got away with it….anf still lost….smh Seattle sucks!!!!!
