Haggans back, Bakhtiari out

The 49ers just announced they’ve waived backup outside linebacker Eric Bakhtiari to make room on their 53-man roster for Clark Haggans.

Haggans missed the first five games of the season because he was serving a suspension for a DUI conviction. He’s a key backup for the 49ers because he’s the only backup outside linebacker they currently have on the roster. Expect him to suit up against Giants on Sunday.

Grant, are you going to vote for Luke Kuechly for the Pepsi Rookie of the week after 11 tackles and an INT?

Hopefully Haggins can play coverage on special teams. my only concern this year has been out KO and punt coverage. you can really see the difference without costanza [sp?] and colin jones.

  3. six-ace-deuce says:

Last season, Blake Constanzo, Colin Jones and CJ Spillman were as valuable as the starters on offense or defense because they were ‘lights out’ on kick/punt coverage. I think it was one of the few mistakes HarBaalke have made during the reign: not re-signing Blake Constanzo and trading Colin Jones. Sure, perhaps neither were ever going to be great back-ups at their defensive positions, but they were special teams’ aces. It’s not so much talent to excel in special teams, you have to have the right temperament.

Always something to complain about with Niner fans. This team has completely dominated their opponents the last few weeks, but because they’re not PERFECT in every way, there’s whining and moaning. Like Jeff Kent famously said once, “enjoy the game more!!!”

    • ribico says:

I don’t know, I used to be satisifed with 17-13 wins. Now if every game isn’t a 30+ point blowout I might start firing up the whine machine myself.

        Rib,

This total domination thing is real easy to get used to.

Would 15 point wins put the whine machine on hold? For some here, a breakout record performance last week and a record breaking game against a Ryan defense didn’t do it.

    • six-ace-deuce says:

Not really complaining, what was a strength has become a liability.. especially since the Niners could have done what they are doing on offense and defense and still kept Constanzo and Jones. It almost bit them in the a$$ against the Bills, that punt return for a TD would have changed the entire feeling of the game.

9erGirl – NY Giants girl still has nothing on you! ;-) Don’t be mad.

Texans 1st major injury. Brian Cushing out for season. That might hurt.

  7. SourdoughSam says:

I cannot wait for the Niners to prove Eli is not so elite and for Alex to solidify himself as a Niner icon of determination and dedication paying off in dividens!!

    • DS94everXev says:

      @sourdough

The people who actually matter, those playing and coaching in the NFL, know. Fans think they know, but they don’t. I tend to go with the guys who know rather than the guys who don’t.

    • Neal says:

We can beat the Giants 40-0, it means squat, Eli has two super bowl rings and well AS, he has one playoff win.

  8. SourdoughSam says:

Jordan how many weeks until you change your name and take off the warm up ck part?? Negativity is the wrong direction in almost all cases

  9. Frank says:

I’ve noticed Trumaine Brock has been very good on ST’s lately…as the roster got where it is now, there’s just no room for players without multiple skills. That and the fact no rookies are active for games shows how good and deep the roster is now.

    • DS94everXev says:

“I’ve noticed Trumaine Brock has been very good on ST’s lately”

As have I Frank. If you remember back, this blog was full of the typical “What are TB/JH Thinking!!! Keeping Brock! He sucks!!!” when he wasn’t cut.

That is why we are here and they are there.
