SANTA CLARA – Vic Fangio spoke in the media tent Saturday afternoon. Here’s what he said about the 49ers run defense, which has not performed well in three of their last four games.
Q: The run defense hasn’t been as good as it was last year. What do you attribute that to, and does it concern you?
FANGIO: Obviously it’s always a concern if you’re not playing something as well as you think you should. Obviously last week in the first two series we didn’t do that at all. Give the Rams credit – they came out and blocked us and we didn’t play to the level of intensity that was needed to be played in that game with the blocking they were giving us and the great running that the running back was doing.

Intensity deficits among defensive personnel is a problem Vic… obviously.
Three times in 9 games the defense has fallen flat. That’s an issue. When the D doesn’t carry the 49ers they lose.
