The 49ers public relations staff just e-mailed the following statement: “Coach Harbaugh will not be available to the media today as he is undergoing a follow-up evaluation to the procedure he received last week. Coach will be available, as usual, on Wednesday at noon in the media tent.”

Hope the electricity Kaep created last night at the Stick didn’t cause Coach any trouble.
Am I being too much of a cynic in thinking that this was a convenient excuse to avoid talking about the QB situation for a little while longer?
“What does Kaepernick have to show to take Alex’s job?”
He has to show he can make the reads when the defense doesn’t stack the box like they did last night. What’s gonna happen if they stack it and show blitz and then back off into coverage? Will he make the right reads? Will he put us in the right play? With Alex you don’t have to worry about this. Last night they gave Kap them one on ones and deep throws. Alex never sees the defense like that so he takes what they give. How’s kap gonna respond when they blitz nonstop in NO? He’s not gonna be able to run from it all. The saints will cause him to fumble cuz he don’t protect the ball. There’s a lot kap still has to show. Defenses will figure him out! Exactly what happened to Scam Newton! The bears tried stacking, that didn’t work! The saints will try blitzing and I guarantee kap won’t be able to do what he did last night. Then how will the crowd affect him when there gettin sacks and TO’s? Lotsa questions and Alex already answered! Just my opinion.
He won’t be able to throw long against the blitz the way he did against the Bears. This week, JH and GR need to prepare him to throw to hot reads. Screens. Slants. Quick outs. The good news is, we have coaches who understand the QB position and will give him the playbook tools Kappy needs. Then it’s on him to execute. It’ll be an interesting game.

When he answers, “I’m doin’ great. The doctors say I’m doin’ great. I’ll be on the sidelines Sunday doin’ the coachin’.” Then you can ask, “Great. And who’ll be qb Sunday?”
Nah. Just say, Great.
We already know in our hearts that Kaep will start.

I have lived with the same heart condition that Harbaugh has for over 20yrs. Even though it can be serious it normally is something that can easily be lived with. Cardioversion is not that big of a deal I have had it done 5 or 6 times but it is not a cure it just schocks the heart back into a normal rythym. Most of the time it can be controlled with medication and sometimes a blood thinner is prescribed.
Grant, why such late notice if this was the case? If he had an appointment to return for a follow up, wouldn’t they know this at 9am this morning??
Harbaugh’s health is private information and shouldn’t be a part of his interaction with the press unless Harbaugh wants to talk about it. If it wasn’t a planned check up then that’s Harbaugh’s business. If it was scheduled at the time of his first procedure, then it’s just Harbaugh being Harbaugh. That’s impolite but still his business.
My guess is that it was unplanned for today.
Maybe he was scheduled to have a check up tomorrow and late today got te doctor to move it up. Wednesday is a hands on day for Harbaugh. Lets hope it’s something like that.
