SANTA CLARA — Here’s what Jim Harbaugh said at his press conference Friday afternoon about LaMichael James, courtesy of the 49ers.
I understand that RB LaMichael James has been playing the role of RB Darren Sproles in practice this week?
“Sproles, yeah.”
That’s a pretty good comparison, those two?
“Yeah, it really has. LaMichael’s really benefitted a lot from … he’s been a wide receiver a lot of times in practice and running back coming out of the backfield. His hands have improved so much and his route-running ability. I think it was quite a good look for our defense this week with LaMichael.”
How’s he doing catching the punts?
“He’s still coming along, still coming along. But, his hands overall are definitely getting better and he’s been working at it every day, every week. Kickoffs are a little easier than the punts.”

Love me some LaMichael
Straight cash homie
Well then lets give the Saints some of what they been dishin out. Activate him! That would be perfect. No film whatsoever on him. I think it would mess them up bad. Give them a dose of Jacobs while we’re at it.
Would be cool to see what our draft picks could do, not expecting much until we have the divinson in the bag.
Yay! An article NOT about the QB position.
Can’t wait to see what James can do in the future.
How bout his little funky attitude?Has that improved as well?
As long as we are experimenting (or is it evaluating?)… why not activate LMJ, and AJ Jenkins this week and get a peek into 2013? Rest Frank Gore and Randy Moss this week and save them for the playoffs. I’ve read here that CK can leap tall buildings, do what Favre could do, and lead this team to places others can’t. So, what the heck, activate the future now! If that’s what JH wants, let’s go!
Yes, I am being sarcastic folks…
Great to hear LaMichael James developing receiving skills. The more varied his weapons, the pressure he puts on defenses. Motion or split him out, what does the D do? Try to shadow him with a linebacker?. Use up a safety? Keep him in the backfield and he could play a Percy Harvin like role. The possibilities are endless.
I wonder if this will be the first game that LaMichael James plays? I would not be at all surprised to see this coaching staff introduce him now.
