Is there any way the Rams can beat the 49ers?

No.

There is no way the Rams can beat the 49ers on Sunday, unless there’s an act of divine intervention.

The Rams offense doesn’t have a good enough run game or offensive line to sustain 14-play touchdown drives against the 49ers defense. St. Louis will find itself in too many second-and-nines and third-and-eights. Their offensive line is not good enough to block the 49ers pass rush in those situations.

I’d be surprised if the Rams drive the ball into the red zone more than once. I’d also be surprised if they score more than one field goal.

In the conference call, Jeff Fisher and James Laurinaitis almost waived a white flag, they seemed so impressed by the 49ers. If they don’t think they will win, why should I?

I’m saying the 49ers will win 20-3. Is there anyone out there who can make a case for the Rams winning – or even cares to?

Well, like many, I’m superstitious, so posts like this scare me. But on paper, the 49ers were expected to clobber the Rams last year and it was much closer than anyone expected – and one of the 49ers TDs (and we only won by a TD) was the trick play Akers-to-Crabtree-fake-FG TD pass. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if this game ends up closer than people think.

If the 49ers play THEIR game, then there is no way they lose. Their game is running the ball 25+ times a game, play action passing out of heavy personnel, and not giving up big plays on defense (make them go 10+ plays to score). If they do those things, the Niners should win by a comfortable margin (17+ points).

Yeah, if they come out throwing on several of their first 1st downs, it could be a long day. The only part of the rams team that worries me is their pass rush and alex holding onto the ball for too long.

I think in heapin all that praise, the rams were trying to incite a trap game type mentality in the 49ers…. basically hoping to lull them to sleep. It won’t work.

As long as they don’t play like they did against the Vikings and Giants, no way in hell.

  5. Jack Hammer says:

Sure. If Bradford doesn’t get pressured, Amendola is healthy, and they run the ball 25+ times.

    Grant

Bill Belichick speaks glowingly of every player on every team and every coach. As if they were the next coming of Joe Montana and Jerry Rice and Bill Walsh.

You seriously can’t be thinking that the Rams are so in awe of the Niners that they don’t think they can win, and that their compliments are some sort of white flag, can you?

The Rams are not the Raiders. They are an NFL team. Don’t disrespect them so much.

  7. Coffee's for closers says:

“Leslie, look at me. Listen to what I have to say. That’s not the move you want to make. You can’t establish the run against the 49ers. Understand? It’s a losing strategy.”

    Anything is possible right Grant?

  8. Sean in Canada says:

Yes they can. Any given Sunday. Not the terrible movie, but the reality of the NFL.

  9. Randy says:

Just like there was no way they would lose to the Vikings?Anything is possible, especially if you decide not to take a team seriously..
