The 49ers play the St. Louis Rams Sunday at Candlestick Park. In the meantime, I’ll break down a couple of key matchups every day.
CB Janoris Jenkins (5-10, 193 pounds) vs. WR Mario Manningham (6-0, 181)
Jenkins has been getting torched recently. He’s given up 19 catches on 24 targets for 233 yards and 4 touchdowns the last three games according to Pro Football Focus.
He’s going to have to face Manningham for most of the game on Sunday. Jenkins is a rookie and he is not in Manningham’s league right now. Roman should exploit this matchup 10 times on Sunday. Why not?
Roman should call a few deep passes for Manningham, too. Catching deep passes is what Manningham does best.
Advantage: 49ers

Six catches for 113 yards and a TD this Sunday for Manningham.
It would always be nice to see Alex throwing more deep passes, MM’s way or someone else, but lets face it, he generally won’t pull the trigger if the guy is double covered, or maybe even tight single coverage. Its easy to complain about, but as long as they win…
Manningham will break in the rookie thats for sure.
