49ers sign Eric Bakhtiari to two-year deal

The 49ers just announced they signed linebacker Eric Bakhtiari to a two-year contract.

The 27-year old from San Mateo will most likely take over Demarcus Dobbs’ role on the special teams units. Dobbs was placed on IR earlier this week.

Bakhtiari rejoins the 49ers for the third time this season. He appeared in three 49ers games earlier this year, and he spent training camp with the team before getting released on August 31st.

Two years? Why? I mean, don’t get me wrong, I think this guy proved he was a gamer in preseason, but if the team wanted him, wouldn’t they have committed to him then?

Hmmm… what’s the term on Haggan’s contract? Is it only for this season? Maybe Bakhtiari will be considered as his replacement at back-up OLB next year?

So many questions Auto, which one to answer first?

    • Grimey9er says:

Don’t forget the 9ers have 2 rookie OLB on IR right now.

Chances are it’s a reward for sticking around and being a citizen. Almost no real money and the guys goes hard. I like it. He’s 27, hungry, and brings a solid work ethic and effort to the team. Welcome back EB!

      Mr. Auto:

What’s the problem with the contract being for two years? I haven’t seen the terms, but I would be surprised if the contract didn’t allow the 49ers to keep Bakhtiari for 2013 if they want him or cut him without penalty.

    • PacMan says:

Just because he signs for two years doesn’t mean he is on the roster next year (see Josh Johnson)

    • msclemons67 says:

Last time I checked the 49ers were pretty tight against the cap. Maybe there was a signing bonus that needed to be spread out?

      Just a wild guess.

Two years seems kinda odd cut him afther the year I guess

Grant – Whoever sold that sewing machine banner add to a football blog can sell anything! I actually clicked on it a couple times to help force a renewal. :)
BTW, did you see Belichick’s comments about Niners yesterday?
    He said:
“Obviously, long yardage is not where you want to be against this team with their pass rush and multiples of zone, man, blitz, zone pressure, man pressure. They give you a lot of different things to work on.”

Belichick is one smart dude Grant……Harbaugh has his hands full.

    • Coffee's for closers says:

“Belichick is one smart dude Grant,” you’re really splitting the atom with that analysis aren’t ya? hahaha no I’m just kidding don’t take it seriously.

    • Crab15 says:

Coffee – Ha…….I’ll leave the atom splitting to you and Jack. You guys are pretty damn good.
I Agree with you Coffee, my Belichick analysis wasn’t exactly “Jackie Brown” quality. ;-)

      • Coffee's for closers says:

Jack is good, I’m just long winded sometimes which can appear to be good until you put it to the litmus test but thx anyway I do appreciate the kind words. ;)

JB is one of those movies that I will watch anytime it’s on.

  4. Razoreater says:

I’d say Harbaugh relishes this kind of matchup along with Vic and the rest of the staff. On top of that, it’s primetime, it’s ESPNs’ darling team and they will hype it up as a Super Bowl preview. I believe the 49ers take care of business in all three phases.

  5. msclemons67 says:

Didn’t Coffee call this yesterday? He should get a mention.

    • Coffee's for closers says:

Thanks mate! Trust me, i’ve been tooting my horn all morning about my punctilious prognostication.
