49ers Week 16 grades: Kaepernick

SEATTLE, Wa. – The Seahawks crushed the 49ers 42-13 Sunday night. Here is Colin Kaepernick’s grade.

Colin Kaepernick: F. In the first half when the game was still a game, Kaepernick was terrible. His quarterback rating was 55.8. He converted two of eight third downs and he was 0-for-2 in the red zone. He didn’t see Michael Crabtree wide open in the back of the end zone when the 49ers were down 14-0. If he had seen Crabtree, the 49ers would have cut the lead to just seven points. Instead, Akers had to attempt a field goal which the Seahawks blocked and returned for a touchdown. That was the end of the game. The 49ers are not built to come back from three touchdowns down.

  1. Uh Jason, a FortyNiner Fan says:

Truly a disgusting game. Prime Time. I live in Oregon, surrounded by Seahag fans. Its going to be a rough week.

  2. Grumpy Guy says:

No one on this team deserves anything but an ‘F’ this week. This was a team loss: EVERYONE sucked.

We are, and have been since the beginning of this season, the most inconsistent team in the NFL. And it does not matter who the QB is. We’ve had great games with both; we’ve had horrific games with both.

Coaching staff has to bare a lot of that blame. Is there something worse than an “F”?

  3. philly9er says:

I thought you were to high with your grade last week but you’re right on this week.

  4. tkamB says:

The “good” thing is that it looked more like jitters than really anything the Seahawks were doing so I don’t think teams are going to have much to duplicate. Gotta go get the win next week and hope the Minnesota Petersons can pull through against GB.

  5. michael says:

Hopefully Minnesota wins next week and we can turn this around.

  6. Mr. Automatic says:

The team laid an egg tonight. Colin doesn’t deserve all the blame but he earned his fair share for sure.

  7. 23jordan/ says:

Kap was definitely rattled tonight. He looked hesitant and he definitely missed Crabs on that throw to moss. Also when he didn’t throw that WR screen.

    • Prime Time says:

Oh but don’t worry he has one more week to get ready for the pressure cooker of the playoffs. Harbaugh and you clowns thought he could coach his way through inexperience and rely on his physical attributes. Does not look ready to me!

      • 23jordan/ says:

        Prime,

We missed you last week. What happened to you? just wondering?? I don’t feed welching troll. Niner fans are here all week. Smithers have disappeared. Glad to have you back.

      • Prime Time says:

        Regardless you know I’m right!

      • Neal says:

Prime Randy Axel Foley and Santa and a few others.

You remind me of the person who always says he is right, a know it all, who knows nothing, I bet you live a sad lonely life through your insecure arrogance.

    • bayareafanatic says:

      Jordan,
he’s been here. Remember Grant said he’s been posting as Randy. So now Prime is Prime, Axel, Randy and I know I’m missing another one. Pathetic.

    • Chicago49er says:

Jordan, Kap was rattled but i still love his mental toughness. Kap did not play well tonight however he also had so many drop passes! the TD attempt to Moss in the end zone was a PI which was not called! and seahawks were holding the defense all night long!!! We are going to learn from this game.

Whats funny is how the broadcasters already have named the Packers the winner of the 2nd seed! With Peterson playing all out vikings have a chance of beating the packers! GO VIKINGS

  8. Greg says:

Next step in the coaching process for Kaepernick, introduce him to the play clock. Physically take him around the stadium before the game and show him the play clock. Then carefully explain the concept of snapping the ball before it reaches zero. This was a problem even when Alex Smith as at QB, we would frequently blow time outs because we took to long to get the snap off. But under Kaepernick it has become a huge problem, and the noise tonight was not a factor in this.

    • Ken says:

On top of that, it doesnt help that the plays come in late…

      • Justdareal says:

Yeah you’re right about that. I distinctly remember one play where I saw the guys break from the huddle with like 8 secs left. Harbaugh immediately looked at the play clock and knew the ball wouldn’t be snapped in time and called the timeout from the sideline. Kaep didn’t even know the play clock was winding down but he didn’t look either. Calls are coming in slow and Kaep isn’t managing the play clock either.

    • Edgar says:

Quiz question: who’s that QB who gave Seattle their last home loss?

      • bayareafanatic says:

        The 49ers defense….

      • Dee Phiant says:

        LOL was it CK’s buddy!?!

      • bayareafanatic says:

        Edgar,
the last time the Seahawks lost at home it was to Alex the Beast Smith. His legend grows by the day. The last time AS beat the Seahawks his kicker made 4 kicks and his running backs accounted for 150 yards and a TD.

On that day Alex the Beast Smith completed 53% of his throws and did not pass for a TD. But just like every other guy that has a number 11 pillow that they love to dry hump, they will say that he was the catalyst to winning that game…..

Reality check folks. This defense that played the second half of the Patriots game and the full game today will not win games in the playoffs…..

Also, what is up with the officiating? Russel threw a TD on a play where the play clock ran out and they didn’t call it. Seattles make more contact with receivers than any other team Iv’e seen. And there are no calls. Also, the hit on VD was LEGAL. He lead with the shoulder and dislodged the ball. It was a beautiful hit IMO.

    • Chicago49er says:

Greg, the entire offense was slow and the plays were not getting to CK on time! When you are playing in a very loud place you can not have so many shifts and motions! you have to simplify the plan!

  9. Loony says:

Yes and it’s sad that on the off time of games the days you practice you, know, the staff doesn’t have what if backup talent they train and if cant run the same exact way Justin can adjust with tightening up the line with another power weight side by side to sub Justin’s absence. Then our defense is having the wrong formations given to them, GRANT, tell ur dad that its obviously showing whoever is in charge of that is mis reading the oppositions lines and that needs to change or vulnerability is for certain. That leaves one thing opposition high score, now what do we do to counter, aside from poorly admitting this and fixing, nothing and nothing at all our offense is horribly coordinated too. Come, on this wasn’t NE defense, seriously? This defense is hard and makes hardly mistakes and has authority behind them like we use to have maybe our D caller needs glasses? We are too predictable too say the least every possession and being so are readable which doesn’t leave room to actually go far. Go long on first snap stop running the first two and then throwing the third switch up they watch tapes and know how gore is going. Whatever happen to kap play the fake hand off go left or audible right ??? I don’t get it is this what we can expect and just hear we’re gonna get better. I as a inner fan and for all other demand ur Daddy, GRANT, make the changes and make them quick he owes it to us fans we hung in here when sh*t was real fu*^d up now we have the talent and the chance he better not blow it. Another thing is I love kap, but this better not be a plot to give him playoff experience so we can have some type of conspiracy amongst the fans that this was a plot for building a Super Bowl team for next year that this was for him to get ready. If he knew he wasn’t ready if that’s the case then stick to what could be a consistent thing.and build when building should be done not when we’re all amped up to win this. Because the way I’m seeing it is if he believed he was ready play calling would have a lot of routes and shifts for his arm and make him show all other great abs in the league and give us those numbers plus he would trust his play the running one not try it in some games and, get conservative in others like he’s not to sure this is the coach on Kaps plays. If that’s the case you know the obvious you have a man sitting on the side inspire of all said and how you don’t believe he can do you know what he can for sure he’s done it for years please let that not be the case. Because he’s not showing me any different.

  10. Adam707 says:

Spot on with the grade. Kaep had a F game in every aspect of QBing. If today were the only time he had problems getting a play off I would understand but it’s every game. We are blowing 3-4 timeouts every game simply because he can’t get the offense lined up on time. The moment tonight just seemed far too big for him. Divisional game. On the road with a chance to wrap up the division and he laid an egg. This game was pathetic.

  11. Justdareal says:

Kaepernick pissed me off this game to no end. You CANNOT try to change the play in Seattle with 5 secs on the play clock. Game management was ridiculous. If you want to be in position to make the right play call then they need to get to the line of scrimmage with no less than 10 seconds left!

That said, I trust that this serves up a lot of teaching points needed for fine tuning in the playoffs. Learn from it then turn the page to the Cardinals.

  12. Adam says:

I don’t want to bag on CK too much. He was pretty sporadic but he’s still somewhat green and can only benefit from good coaching. And also, even the best QBs can have bad games.

I think we still have some fundamental issues outside the QB that haven’t really been solved.

I still don’t think we have an elite wide receiver. We certainly don’t have receivers that can get much separation and they certainly can’t do much against physical DBs. Occasionally you still see a receiver making a fundamental mistake on third down by not running the route to the sticks – boggles my mind. So there’s an awareness issue there and we really don’t have any big threat outside Vernon Davis. Moss gets some attention but until recently he hasn’t been used.

I think the O-line is improved but our guys still don’t get Tom Brady-like time in the pocket.

We also have to give Seattle its due. They played a fantastic game on both sides of the ball. I know a lot of guys here hate on Pete Caroll but he’s a fantastic, fired up coach. Gotta give him some respect.

Let’s hope we bounce back, win the next one and get some help with a bye – we need it. We’re getting beat up.

  13. Josh says:

This is what happens when the defense doesn’t play out of their mind against a good team. Krappernick showed his true self. Last week the defense played ridiculously well, even considering the crazy onslaught of Brady. When the defense doesn’t play out of their mind, Krappernick can’t handle it.

    • Deezybee says:

      Thats been Alex’s guideline to success.lol.. Defense gotta play good..if not…well yknow.lol..

    • Chicago49er says:

words of wisdom! Come on dude! This was CKs fifth game! He is a rookie and the coaching staff still needs to protect their rookie QB by calling plays to keep the defense on their toes! This was just a bad game. We will rebound from this game and hopefully Packers will lose to the Vikings. GO NINERSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

    • 23jordan/ says:

      Josh,

Calling him Krappernick kills your objectivity. My guess would be that you feel like Smith would’ve won that game last night right?

Grant, please make that the next poll question so we can can see the 7 votes that Alex Smith gets. That would be Josh voting 7 times! Lol

      • Sam B says:

Why do you keep bringing up Smith when the real issue is Colin Kaepernicks play? You keep ignoring the fact that he looks shaky.

  14. KezarMike says:

Where’s George Mira? Call him up. (this is for old timers, younger fans will have to google him, but you may still not get the full context)

49ers get back on track next week and kick ass all the way through the playoffs – I had the same feeling with the Giants a few weeks ago when we were down 3-1 against the Cards and look what happened.

  15. Loony says:

That’s the prob tho us as fans shouldn’t have to go threw a learning process this far in, after next week is the playoffs for god sake, how much time do we have to learn if that’s the plan leave it for the off season and beginning of the season is all I’m saying. Stick to what you know. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it, and if theirs room for improving do so when time is rite not sacrifice our chance for learning.

    • 23jordan/ says:

      Guys,

No worries, JH just said during his presser that Alex Smith has the hot hand and is the starter for the rest of the season! Wooooo hoooo! Not.

      • Txtree49er says:

Your to funny…you should get your own comedy show…

      • 23jordan/ says:

        Txtree,

I do have one. Youre on it right now! Lol

      • Josh says:

Aldon Smith had 5 sacks against Bears, defense had 2 pick 6′s against Saints, they held down the Rams to a low enough score to win twice to no avail, they had ridiculously lucky turnovers from the Patriots, and when they need Krappernick “Mr. Everything” to stand up, he sucked eggs.

      • Txtree49er says:

Must have been a short lived comedy show….

So are you making up excuses now? I thought w we made the change so that the offense was supposed to help the defense when it was not playing well…did it happen?

      • 23jordan/ says:

        TXtree,

Are you butt hurt that Kap is the starter? You don’t sound so good. You do realize that Alex is not a Niner anymore. Snap out of it kid. It’s gonna be fine. Look at the blog after the New England game. here is not 1 entry from you. That tells us what we need to know about you. That is why you are the funny guy.

      • 23jordan/ says:

        Josh,

Just told you that Alex is starting next week. That is what you want right? You got your Christmas gift. Alex is the man…. Again! Lol .

      • Txtree49er says:

Did I call for Alex? No…

What is it with you? You have to be a juvenile every week?

And just to correct your stupid comment, Alex smith is still a niner, on contract for 2 more years.

And finally. What is your with your fetish on Alex Smith. He did not factor in the game at all….

And I have been in a SCIF for the past week, they don’t have Internet at there…

      • Txtree49er says:

        @ Adam

        Thanks for the comments

        @ninermd

Why is it if someone doesn’t agree with you, you go spastic?

I have stated CK is the QB.

I also said he should be judge by the standards set by this blog..,

    • 23jordan/ says:

      TEXTree,

Who cares where you’ve been? Bottom line is you’re a Smither and he’s not the QB anymore. Beat it!

      • Txtree49er says:

        I am a smither?

Show me where I asked for Alex Smith to start, or that he could have played better than CK?

You seem to have a real juvenile need to call anyone who disagrees with you a smither…

Colin had a bad game, so that makes me a smither?

        SMH

      • 23jordan/ says:

        Txtree,

We never agree, that’s why I am not a Smith fan and you are. We disagree about the QB. have a good night dude.

      • Txtree49er says:

Still waiting for you to point out where I stated Alex Smith was the answer.

The team stank last night, we need to break this 2 wins then a loss.

      • ninermd says:

Tree…. The only time you come on here is to stick it to anyone who wants ck to play. Yeah you’re a smither. It’s your first year on here and hopefully your last. Beat it! You’re not a 49er fan. Just another random idiot who likes to start trouble and likes to see the team and certain players fail.

      • Adam says:

He’s been here longer than that, he was here last year for sure.

And calling Jordy “juvenile” is kind.

      • ninermd says:

And your juvenile acts are better Adam? You’ve said numerous times that you were out of this crap talking. And it seems the only you come around is when ck has a bad game also. Make you feel good? Smith isn’t the qb. You’re going to have to deal with it. Kid has one bad game and here comes tree. Look back and find him where you disappeared also.

      • angusinCanada says:

        NinerMD,
Adam is a rational, even-handed observer, from what I’ve read, and Txtre49er is only commenting on the atrocious QB play we all witnessed last night.

        Don’t get so defensive.

      • Adam says:

“You’ve said numerous times that you were out of this crap talking.”

Just calling a spade a spade.

And I generally come around after a game anymore because this place is becoming a cesspool.

I’ve also said many times that I like CK, I thought it was a decent draft pick and he has upside. Doesn’t absolve him from criticism.

        It is what it is.

      • 23jordan/ says:

        Adam,

Why are you still here? You left the blog crying like a 5 year old girl 3 months ago. They had to beg you not to quit. You complain about the level of maturity on the blog 10 minutes ago and then you drop that garbage about me. You’re a hypocrite son. You’re no better than anyone else up here. You’ve been doing that punk azz crap since you’ve been here. Youre just as immature as anyone you speak about. You fit right in here young lady.

      • Prime Time says:

Seems like the haters don’t want to hear that Kap has the potential to play a bad game. In fact in 6 starts he has played good in only two.

  16. MontanaMan16 says:

Funny thing. Alex won in this same loud stadium last year! Lol! No PW in that game either!

    • Dee Phiant says:

Don’t say things like THAT! It might make you look to rational……….

    • Deezybee says:

      No russell wilson either.lol

      • MontanaMan16 says:

Oh, my bad! I didn’t know the rookie was Tom Brady!

      • Deezybee says:

Your point was..alex won last yr at that stadium..The qb change from tavaris to russell makes a helluva difference in what the team faced this yr from last. Give Seattle and pete credit.. Instead of tryin to find a reason to blame Kap..and do more campaigning for your boy Alex

      • MontanaMan16 says:

I ain’t finding a reason to blame Kap! He did that all on his own. I’m not a numbers man! I know what I see on the field. Common sense and every other thing you can possibly look at says Kap ain’t ready! So stop protecting your boy and come back to reality! Any football guy can see it!

      • Deezybee says:

Montana..So last nites game is all Kaps fault?

      • We really Kaepped the bed on that one says:

I think Kaep is ready, he just wasn’t ready for that game, he wasn’t ready for the sheer magnitude of the volume in the Seahawks stadium. Thank goodness theres no way the 49ers will be playing in Seattle again this year.

    • ninermd says:

And the defense Didnt give up 35 points either. I’m betting you hated young also. Here’s some news!!!!! Smith isn’t Montana. And smith would have gotten smacked last night also.

      • angusinCanada says:

Smith couldn’t have gotten smacked any worse. You don’t know if he could have done better.

The fact is, Kaepernick had a terrible, terrible game, on many levels. If he doesn’t play markedly better than that come playoff time, we’re out in one game. Hate on Smith all you want, that doesn’t matter. Kaep needs to play better, or else Harbaugh will be justifiably and harshly criticized for how he’s handled this season.

      • ninermd says:

Yeah Canada because smith is known for coming back when the defense lays an egg. You can hate the fact that your boy is gone. But it’s the way it is. And who cares what a smith fan thinks or what they have to say about the coach of the year’ decision. You’re another bitter one that comes back on here when they lose. You’re a joke Canada. And it was you who called ck crapernick. What makes you think you have any weight when it comes to being fair?

Now all we need since Adam, tree, Canada are on bashing the qb is ds, Hoff, and onelame back laughing at a loss. You’re all a joke and I couldn’t want smith more gone than now. Not because I hate him its because I’m sick of reading Smithers hating this coaching staff and players in love for smith. Everyone of you are a joke if you really think you’re a 49er fan. Ill look you up next season on the chiefs blog Busters!

      • angusinCanada says:

        MD, prescribe yourself some valium.
If Kaepernick doesn’t play better than what we saw last night (that goes for the whole team, btw), we’re not doing anything in the playoffs, I’d assume you and I agree there.
And….if he plays like that in the playoffs, Harbaugh will be mercilessly second-guessed, with at least some degree of justification.
Do you disagree with either of those points? Or are you going to go on some rant about Alex Smith, which isn’t really relevant to discussing the kind of play we need from our starter, Kaepernick.

      • ninermd says:

I agree with the first, but second guessing the coach because he made a switch to the better qb NO! Again the defense isn’t playing like last season nor is the special teams. There was no indication that smith improved enough to put this team on his shoulders and win a Superbowl. Bottom line is ck is a better qb and this TEAM needs to sack up and play better for more than two games. That’s my outlook on the second part.

  17. bayareafanatic says:

Pretty tough loss. I was looking forward to this game all week and we laid an egg big time.
It started out with our entire team not not matching the Seahawks intensity. The defense for our team sets the tone. The defense is our identity. Tonight we looked like pretenders. In the last 6 quarters our defense has given up 73 points. We are not going anywhere unless we get that fixed. Mobile Quarterbacks have been our achilies heel. Tonight we played against the best mobile QB in the league and he destroyed us. All night our defenders looked like they were running in slow motion. The couple of times that they had a chance to lay the wood, they let Wilson off the hook.
Carlos Rogers was beyond terrible this game. He gave up big completion after big completion. Dropped a sure Int and we ended up giving up a TD a couple of plays later. And he gave up THAT TD. He should not be on this team next year.

Colin Kaepernick had his worst game as a pro. And Grant, it was not an F. Tonight CK was a C-/D+. The defense put a young QB in a position where he had to play from behind in the loudest stadium in the league.
Colin made some good throws tonight. He was not responsible for the blocked field goal that changed the outcome of the game. He was not responsible for Manningham dropping the ball because he was in pain. That would have led to three points. The offense as poor as it was should have put 19 points up on the Seahawks tonight. AS only scored 13 points against the Seahawks last time and won. That is when we were playing defense.

CK threw a bad ball to Moss and threw it late. CK also had a difficult time getting plays off. He had a couple delay calls and his coach called Time out twice to cover his ass. CK also hung on to the ball and misread two quick outs to his WR’s. One he double clutched and never threw to Crabs, the next one he double clutched and threw late to Manningham. Partially responsible for him being hurt. He let the defense converge on him. He finally had his rookie moment.

Harbaugh got his ass handed to him tonight. Lucky for us we don’t have to play that monkey Pete Carol in that stadium in the rain again this year.

    • 23jordan/ says:

      Prime,

That’s how dumb you are. Seattle won’t be getting a home playoff game. Youre not even stupid enough to believe that we could lose to Arizona. Seattle is about to be a wild card team. For someone who acts like you know so much, you probably should just disappear again.

    • 23jordan/ says:

      Prime,

Sound like you’re ready to bet on your Cardinals. Youre a real ass. Only guy on the blog that gets banned and kisses the bloggers azz to get a reprieve. Go away clown. You’re officially a troll now. 5 screen names and a reprieve. At least your sister BS bowed out gracefully. You have no respect for yourself so we know we can’t expect that from you. Nothing but Niner fans up here now. Clearly you are not. You’re still butt hurt about the backup and he’s been gone for 6 weeks. C’mon man!

    • Mr. Everything says:

      Beefcake

You think the Niners will lose to Arizona at home next week? Cause that’s what you’re saying.

How did you feel calling out Clemons for his wife’s battle with cancer during the game? Did that make you feel like a big man?

    • bayareafanatic says:

      Grant,
why do you continue to let Prime post here. The guy is a douche. Anytime a guy insults other peoples family members like Clem’s wife, you gotta ban the guy. Or accidentally list his name and address. Then let nature take its course.

    • Mr. Everything says:

      Beefcake

Why don’t you write it again? Grant erased it once. When you were posting as “Santa.” Everyone saw it. Not smart.

      • Nairaj says:

        Prime is not santa.

      • Randy says:

and,for Grant’s information,I AM NOT THIS JACKASS PRIME

      • Prime Time says:

Thank you Randy for that and for exposing Grant as a liar!

      • Randy says:

Prime…why are you allowing people to call you Randy? What in the world is up with you? That being said,we do have one thing in common…we both hate Neal…

      • Neal says:

        Haha Prime Randy

You hate me Prime Randy? Are you such a loser. that you let this little blog affect your little boys emotions? Hey I was wondering what the holiday hours are at Burger King love their salads? Can you post their holiday hours please.

      • Neal says:

Prime Time Randy Axel Foley and many more.

        Was up !!!

      • Neal says:

        Prime Randy,

Are you bi-polar? Are you hearing voices.?

      • Neal says:

        Randy Prime,

I am a problem, what a sorry pathletic life? LMAO What a joke you have become on here.

      • bayareafanatic says:

        Randy,
now you are telling me to commit suicide? See I don’t need to come back at you. The whole room knows you are a scumbag. Not my job to let them know how big of a scumbag you are.
You can list my stuff. I actually don’t care. I’m a man and I take care of my business. You on the other hand hide behind several names. You get banned and you come back again and again. Only a person with low self esteem does that. Like a dog without an owner that shows up at peoples doorsteps for scraps.
You, prime and oneniner you are all scum. It’s too bad the press demo hasn’t figured out how to rid the room of you all. No one wants you here.
I better not find your info out btw. If I’ll travel all across the country to see my Niners, showing up at your doorstep isn’t such a tough task.

Onelame how much more pathetic can you….. Get….. You forgot you hate ck and Harbaugh….. Also. Jerk off. How in the hell…… Does anybody not see this dummy’s…… Posts and put two and ……. Two together?……………………………………

      • Neal says:

By the way Randy Prime, you were exposed, you and Prime are the same double posters. How is Axel doing? Oh Canada !! Are you still going to do your BS crap? That you see me once a week. I am so scared of you. LMAO !! What a loser you are that has no life.

      • Neal says:

Bring it on Randy, Are you a serial killer?

      • Neal says:

Randy I have figured you out, your a loser who does double shift’s where kids are king. bawabawaba Oh yea.

      • Mr. Everything says:

        Yes, Prime was Santa

      • Neal says:

        who is?

    • angusinCanada says:

      C-???? LOL!

Kaep played a terrible game, on all levels. Ignore that all you want, but like I said above, if he doesn’t play much, much better once the playoffs start, we’re out, and Harbaugh is going to take some serious heat for his handling of the season and the QB situation, and justifiably so.
That been said, it’s only one game, everyone has a stinker once in a while, and we get the creampuff Cards to get our groove back on with.
      But a C-? Laughable grade.

    • Adam says:

C- is generous. Looked to me like a flop all across the board. Passes behind receivers, passes arriving late, overthrows, poor clock management, no sustained drives.

Some of that is accountable elsewhere but CK had a real poor game.

    • Adam707 says:

Really Bay. How did Kaep play C worthy. His first three redzone trips resulted in 3 points. One of the drives started at the 20. And we had to burn 3 TOs because he couldn’t call a play. He got a TD and some yards to pad his stats after the game was over. But while it was still a game he was under 50% with 150 yards and an int. sorry that’s a F game. If it had been Smith you would have given him an F. Time to remove the bias.

  18. KezarMike says:

On the positive side, we were the first team in a number of weeks to hold the Seahawks below 50 points.

And folks …. let’s be a little charitable this Christmas season towards fans in Seattle. They have a woeful, terrible baseball team that has never won anything, and probably never will. Their football team has never won a Super Bowl, their basketball team skipped town and now is one of the top teams in the NBA in ANOTHER city. So, let them enjoy the week. We’ll probably kill ‘em in the playoffs anyway. Also Pete Carroll is a northern California guy, coached for the 49ers for a while and he’s a good guy too – already failed as head coach with two NFL teams, so let’s let him enjoy some success. He was smart enough to draft a QB that the quarterback desperate Browns could have had but didn’t, presumably because he was short (the last sports prejudice it appears) and start him over an expensive free agent.

Like our former governor said once, we’ll be back.

  19. Da-Hayn-49er says:

We learn from tonight and move forward, Down the road it will get better, Growing pains, Part of the game.

  20. bumpkin says:

There’s more going on here than meets the eye.
Something strange about the Seahawks being much more physical than other teams. Almost as if they were “juiced up”. The way they play is clearly outside the rules. What’s up with that?

  21. Loony says:

    @bayareafanatic

All is right like I wrote in past posts a defense, they even mis read most formations opposition were going with, fault of course is partially the players but all falls on the shot callers. Offense yea he had his rookie moment but does this mean just like you said a young qb, makes it so obvious might not be ready for these situation these big big game. And also you don’t think giving D a little rest can help by takin the O further having more possession time and moving putting some points up. It’s a two sided knife I think it all bubbles down to the coaching staff and coordinators but that’s me. Kap is our big thing but he has a lot to grow is this the time? Who knows. Our corners horrible and I’m just tired of talking about how how blitzing is misused and then theDBs pay because is a very coordinated thing and man coverage is used when you know long passes are coming depending on their routes but all of this is somewhat readable but over and over mistakes are made no adjusting and for the adjustments they had a counter and we resumed the same flow. O the same it’s horrible how we just were so predictable and definitely out coached.

  22. sbniner says:

Kap probably had his worst game, but hardly an F. I really think the road to the Superbowl in the NFC is going to involve Seattle. Our defense just doesn’t seem as dominate as last year.

  23. ninertime says:

You gotta like Bay. He personally attacks those who diasagree with him and at the same time blindly endorses his favorites, i.e. Colin K. Look, this was a bad game. Let’s tell like it is. Colin was the leader of the disaster. No sustained drives. The D on the field way to much. Bad clock management. An interception while we are in the red zone? He’s young and green and deserves some slack. But a grade of C-? I guess Bay is grading him on the curve. It’s the every kid gets a trophy mentality even when you get your butt handed to you. Kap is a great kid. He will come back. I just hope JH wasn’t a little too anxious in giving him the team and putting AS on ice. I think the Niners come back big from this. I know they will. But do all of us a favor Grant, please no more picks.

  24. Foamingatdamouth says:

Kaep had a F game. He simply was beaten by the better team today. It happens. He and the rest of the team have to shake this loss off and win the division next week.

Despite stinky up the joint he still looks like a franchise QB. On a side note, ironically the loss of VD may not be that significant since Roman hardly uses him anyways. The deep opening shot to a rusty and double covered Manningham instead of VD foreshadowed a bad night.

Congrats to the Seahawks, they not only won tonight, but kept progressing throughout the seasons. The NFC west is no longer a cake walk, but it’s still the Niners division.

  25. Mr. Everything says:

Really, Prime Time? Everyone on this blog saw you tell Clem to stop with his “sad stories.”

You are a scavenger, a vulture, and no matter what else you write on here, everyone will remember how cruel and inhuman you are. Stick around if you want, by all means. Nobody here gives a sh*t about you, and obviously your mommy and daddy f*cked up big time in trying to raise you.

  26. Dee Phiant says:

How about That Kap! That guy has Ice in his veins the way he handled the noise and the Hawks. Over 200 yards passing! Beautiful sacks, time management, INT, TD with 1.40 to go, this kid is learning FAST.
    We hope………………

    • Foamingatdamouth says:

Yeah, he had a bad game. The coaching staff had a bad game. The defense had a bad game. Special teams had a bad game. Welcome to NFL parity.

I’d be more concerned about Kaep if he had a multi interception game, sub 50 % completion rate & an obvious meltdown. Didn’t happen, he just underperformed, but so did his All Pro caliber teammates such as Patrick Willis? The Niners will rebound next week and they’ll be ok in the playoffs. Seattle may have won the battle, but the Niners will win the war!

  27. PhataLerror says:

I thought the whole point of starting Colin Kaepernick was that whereas ‘Alex Smith doesn’t come back when down by three scores,’ Kaepernick somehow can. Except that tonight very well demonstrated he in fact cannot.

Meanwhile, the Kaepologists will claim that the running game, defense, and special teams didn’t give anything for Kaepernick to work with this week. It’s funny how they didn’t give Smith that consideration back in week three against the Vikings. Now Harbaugh has taken his first career NFL loss against Pete Carroll with “his” quarterback, while he was 3-0 starting Smith. Now Harbaugh says he expects Kaepernick will start next week. The radio shows ought to be fun this next week.

  28. Msclemons67 says:

CK7 had a crappy game. It’s a strangely liberating feeling to say the 49ers QB had a crappy game without enduring a litany of excuses. He just had a crappy game.

  29. @Bmac_Wss_Wv says:

They’re totally built for the comeback. It’s called RANDY MOSS! The very first play, had the ball been thrown to Moss…TD. And any other situation.

  30. ninermd says:

Agreed on the grade. Horrible game by CK. horrible game by every member on this team including coaching. I can just hope they will be our first playoff opponent. If they get past the first rd. because Minnesota is beating GB next week.

On another note this team can’t win 3 straight to save their lives. Right now I can’t see them winning three straight to make the Superbowl. They had no focus and no heart last night. It was embarrassing and pathetic.

    • msclemons67 says:

Not every member of the the team had a horrible game. I noticed one of the equipment managers did a fantastic job repairing a helmet in the 2nd quarter.

He then bashed himself in the head repeatedly with that helmet to drown out the suck on the field. This may have been worse than the “We Want Carr” game against Philadelphia. It’s like Mike Singletary is defecating on my grave.

  31. fesnyc says:

F grades for everyone, including Kaep.

we were outhit, outplayed, outcoached. I had this pegged as the big letdown game and it was. you gotta bring the hammer every week in the NFL, and we didnt. hopefully we learn for this and come back as the mighty men of the Niners and Harbaugh, not FP Soft

    • msclemons67 says:

Soft is really the key word. The 49ers looked soft last night. Other losses there have been specific things we could point out but I can’t recall the 49ers looking soft since Harbaugh took over.

  32. Robmac says:

Take the Seacocks out of Century Link and they are a different team, Harbaugh should have mixed it up and put Smith in , when your having your ass handed to you, try something different! A good coach will do anything to win and not rest on his laurels . Hopefully some good will come from this old fashioned beating and they’ll wake up.

  33. undercenter says:

CK has lots to learn yet. He may have a cannon for a gun, he might be elusive, but he isnt a QB yet. CK has two glaring problemes, he cant read defenses and he cant manage a game. It showed big time last nite it showed in the second half of the Pats game, it showed in both Rams game. CK is not ready to play QB yet. Since the Bears game he has gone down hill.

CK has better physical tools then AS but he doesnt have the experience that AS has. The grade F for CK is too harsh, I give him a INCOMPLETE, seems resaonable as thats how most of his passes were last nite.

I need CK to raise to the level of a game manager before I start calling CK the next great Niner QB. With that being said, I still have high hopes that CK will provide the Niners with many many wins in the years to come. This game is like the Giants game, we got beat up out coached and out played, Niners stunk period, get over it. We are in the playoffs, anything can happen in the second season.

  34. Vroomhas says:

Hey can a 49er fan please comment on Kaepernicks personality? I watched his interview after the game and he seemed really petty/ignorant, giving condescending short answers and trying to stay face.

  35. pressdem says:

@Mr. everything you need to stop $ucking lemons dick. Nobody mentioned lemons wife.

    you are a broken record.

Tarded? Which one are you? Look at all these new names popping up … so funny

    • Adam says:

      You’re a new name, too.

Maybe you all ought to try and be nice to each other. See how that works for a while.

    • Mr. Everything says:

      Adam

The name has been on here for two weeks, but I’ve been on here for two years, and I let people know when I change my name. As for being nice, sure thing, just not to the a**hole who mocked Clem for bringing the story of his wife to the blog. Did you miss that, Young Adam?

    • Mr. Everything says:

      Prime

      You mocked Clem’s wife’s cancer.

    • clinton says:

Mr Everything so what was your name before you changed it?

    • Adam says:

My phone dies halfway through the games and I avoid the drama posts in any case.

You all need to keep it to football and quit with the high school popular girl drama on here and all the personal jabs. Just a suggestion.

And I’m not ‘young Adam’ but thanks just the same ;)

    • Mr. Everything says:

Young Adam is a helluva film ;)

    • ninermd says:

That was onelame that mocked Clem’s wife’s condition. And bs backed him for it.

  38. rocket says:

You guys seriously need to get away from your computers and cool off for a few days. Go and spend some time with your families and friends and lay off this Cowboy crap. The true test of character is how you conduct yourself under adversity and you are all failing miserably.

Kap wasn’t great last night, but this was hardly all his fault. The Niners were down 21-0 before they knew what hit them. It was a team failure all across the board.

  39. james says:

Surprised by the F grade as Grant is usually too hasty to praise CK’s positives and gloss over the down side (in my view). He seems to have oscillated to the other extreme. I wasn’t convinced that CK should have replaced Smith, but I don’t think he was too bad tonight. I’d give him C- as he only threw one interception and he did make some good plays. My main concerns about CK were highlighted in this game: his problems with game management and his poor play in the red zone (mostly in goal situations). These were always going to be issues, so it seems harsh to throw him under the bus for these faults now when they were evident beforehand in winning efforts (in which Grant gave him great grades).

Personally I think we lost the game because A. Our defense was tired and banged up (no Smith), and B. The 49ers simply aren’t built to comeback from big deficits. We are hardly even in that situation, and when we do start slowly we have little experience of dragging things back. We also lost because we didn’t get the luck with flags, and Seattle played a great game. Lack of a bye in the playoffs will really hurt us. This team needs a rest.

  40. Adam says:

Dude, take a hike. You post somebody’s social security number, I hope you like jail food.

  41. Neal says:

    Grant,

Urgent get this bozo off the site.

  42. Neal says:

Actually home school kids do better in school then the traditional way, but Obj, I saw you in a little school bus for kids that can’t go mainstream. What is next a big white bus with bars in the window, going to San Quentin? Oh yea !!

    • Mr. Everything says:

      @ Clinton

I’ll just tell you to find the post in which I disclosed it. That should be fun. Or you can just ask the board…

Grant…why don’t you prove to everybody that Prime and I are the same person…YOU CAN’T,BECAUSE WE ARE NOT…no offense Prime, but I don’t want to be associated with you…I have my own problem with Neal to deal with..

And a problem with loving blue eyed qb’s that are ASSASINS and a problem with…….. <—- these! And a problem with making friends, and a problem with knowing football. But I play Madden so I know everything about football. And I have a problem knowing what being booted means. And last but not least I have a problem with getting punked by Niner md. It's been years he's been smacking me. So bad in fact that I've lost it and was banned 3 times.

  44. Neal says:

its official, you never know, the Giants had a 9 and 7 record last year, hardly a good recored

  45. Grumpy Guy says:

    Joy to the World

Joy to the World , the Lord is come!
    Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare Him room,
    And Heaven and nature sing,
    And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven, and Heaven, and nature sing.

Joy to the World, the Savior reigns!
    Let men their songs employ;
While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains
    Repeat the sounding joy,
    Repeat the sounding joy,
    Repeat, repeat, the sounding joy.

No more let sins and sorrows grow,
    Nor thorns infest the ground;
He comes to make His blessings flow
Far as the curse is found,
Far as the curse is found,
Far as, far as, the curse is found.

He rules the world with truth and grace,
    And makes the nations prove
    The glories of His righteousness,
    And wonders of His love,
    And wonders of His love,
And wonders, wonders, of His love.

Many blessings on all of you out there. Merry Christmas!

  47. Neal says:

Hey Prime Slime Randy Axel Foley,

You don’t like Grant, you don’t like anyone on here other then your older sister BS, and most importantly you are not a 49er fan and other then DS you have become the blog buffoon on here. Your just in the AS cult club. Your hatred towards Jim Harbaugh and CK has been noted. Why don’t you take the rest of the year off, and wait till AS is traded and then you can become fans of your new team. Just my 2 cents.
