Gore: “We know if we’re all on the same page we have a great chance to get to the big dance.”

SANTA CLARA — Frank Gore spoke at his locker Tuesday afternoon. Here’s what he said.

Q: Is there momentum from the win at New England?

GORE: We’ve got to move forward. We can’t thrive on what happened last week. We got the win. Now we’re looking at Seattle. We know Seattle’s playing good ball. They’re a good team. We’ll be ready.

Q: Does it tell you something about where you guys are at late in the year?

GORE: We’ve got a good team. We went into New England and got a win against a great team. Now we’ve got another test in Seattle where things can get crazy. They play great when they’re home. We’ve got the guys on the team that can get the job done.

Q: Prime time success? Extra energy?

GORE: We know that we had to get a win going against a great team in New England. We let everybody know what type of team we are. We came out, we started out fast as a team and got the big win.

Q: Such a long trip and physical game, do you feel tired or different?

GORE: Probably soreness, but we’ll be fine. Once we get back into practice, get back moving around, we’ll be good.

Q: Harbaugh said so many guys were studying on the plane, watching film on laptops? Is that unique?

GORE: We know what we have in the locker room. It’s that time to make that run. We came up short last year. We know that if we’re all on the same page we have a great chance to get to the big dance. We’re just working hard.

Q: Do you have a laptop?

GORE: Nah. I just go over my notes with Tom (Rathman), Coach Rathman gives us. Me and Bruce sit right by each other so we’re talking to each other. We know what we have.

Q: How many guys doing that?

GORE: There’s quite a bit. I’d say about 15 to 20 people.

Q: What was supposed to happen on your touchdown, a recovery touchdown?

GORE: I think it was a pass play, the ball came up and I just reacted. I saw that nobody was close to me and that’s why I didn’t dive on the ball. I picked my head up, I just read it.”

Q: They were all in pass defense?

GORE: I guess the O-line was doing a great job. That’s why I guess nobody was running and I picked up the ball.

Q: Is it difficult to get up two weeks in row for big games?

GORE: Nah, nah. Like I say, in December you want to be the hot team. We know that if we get the win we can win the division. They’ve been playing great. I think they got better as a team each week since they played us. We want to claim the division and the playoffs.

Q: Should the Seahawks ready for some traps?

GORE: I don’t know. I know coach G-Ro (Greg Roman) will come up with a good game plan. We’ll execute that and we’ll get the job done.

The heart of the team. Frank Gore. Hall of Fame running back.

  2. Brotha Tuna says:

I saw an interview last week with Laurenitis (sp?) Rams LB and at one point for some reason they asked him him about the Pats stopping the Niners and his face lit up in a big wry grin as he said something like: Oh, they better gear up for Frank Gore! Everything else comes after that. And good luck.
Mr. Frank Gore is The Man. The End.

Here’s a tough question for all of us who love Frank Gore: should the 49ers extend his contract next year or let him play it out?

    • Brotha Tuna says:

Get back to you after the Super Bowl on that one.

      • Fourth & Alex says:

Tough call. It all depends on how much rest they can give him, keep him fresh like this season with KH and LMJ taking snaps. Running backs go south around age 30.

    • dangle says:

I thought Gore’s contract was thru next season and the following one.
      anyone?
Either way, it would suck to see gore in another uniform. I hope he retires a niner… and then becomes a position coach or scout… or my children’s babysitter…lol

    Frank Gore= Team MVP!

    • NinersRoc says:

      +1
That dude brings it every week! He’s had a great season!

    • Fourth & Alex says:

Has anyone noticed that the younger RBs on this team (except Dixon) kinda look like Gore as they run between the tackles. The toughness, patience and elusiveness is catching on. Plus, blocking skills.

  5. hightop says:

Frank Gore is a straight up baller- just soulful. One of my favorite 49ers of all time!

  6. Sean in Canada says:

Gore’s ability to pick up the blitz is second to none, in my opinion. His decleating of Briggs on MNF was money.

  7. Rick Carroll II says:

Frank Gore is easily the best all around back in the league. Not just because of the yards, but he can pick up the blitz, he is aware on every play, hence(the fumblerooskie) He has caught a boatload of passes up until recently, but thats just because its about time Crabtree has become the player he held out to be and Vernon came on strong the last couple of years. I say we let lamicheal James have about 3 or 4 more screens, and also let Colin run free a little this game. I-20 think the Niners eek out this one, 28-20. What do you all think?

What’s the status of AJ Jenkins? Is he going to be the bust Grant predicted during training camp? I don’t hear anything about him, and he hasn’t caught a thing.

    • f49er says:

      Ya know….

That sounds alot like some of the Dumb 49er fans who were saying the same thing about Crabtree not too long ago.

AJ is a Rookie with several Ballers in front of him who have the experience not to mention him having little Chemistry with K-Gun. Next question.

  10. old coach says:

What i’ve been trying to tell Grant for months is that WR is the 2nd most difficult position to learn in the NFL. Any # of great to very good WR’s did’nt hit their stride for 2 or 3 years. Sometimes I think Grant listens to his Dad and parrots his opinion. Its not healthy for a young man to agree with his dad that much. I like Grants writing and respect how much he has grown into the job but he has to be his own man more. What i would really enjoy is a Grant\Lowell disagreement at least once.

    • Crab15 says:

coach – Santa just took you off his list. Where’s the holiday loving spirit? :-)
I support both Grant & Lowell and I hope Grant continues to be himself.
I agree with you on WR development though coach.
      Happy holidays! Much respect coach.

      • old coach says:

I like Both Cohn’s but do’nt you think it would be a good read if they came down on opposite sides of an issue occasionally Happy Holidays to you and yours.

      • Crab15 says:

coach – Grant was one of the few people who loved the LMJ draft pick. I think he gave an A grade for the pick.
Lowell clearly didn’t like the pick and said LMJ was way too small for the NFL.

They didn’t agree on that one.

      • old coach says:

Crabs thats one in what a year and a half. Think about it when i was younger as much as i love my pops we disagreed all the time. Did you agree with your dad pretty much about everything when you were Grants age?

      • Crab15 says:

coach – I’m sure Grant disagree’s with his dad more in private then in public, like all of us have.
My dad was a nut job but I praised him in public. He was an intimidating retired amateur boxer and even in little league baseball he would be in the bleachers instructing me to throw at batters heads (when pitching) or I would be punished. I swear he had hand signals, very sick stuff. In pop warner football he rolled white athletic tape over some kind of thin flat metal on my forearms and told me to hit kids in the throat with it (they didn’t check your pads back then).
My dad made my older brothers crawl into house in full football uniform from the car into house in front of neighbors if they had a poor game. I witnessed it.
Now he’s a soft gentle 79 yr old old man, you’d never know how nutty he was. He scared us into being good ball players.
Just thought I’d share that for some stupid reason. Sorry coach

  11. bayareafanatic says:

Congrats to Colin Kaepernick for being named NFC offensive player of the week….
    Lets do it again.

    • claude balls says:

Personally, I’d rather see him win Super Bowl MVP.

      • bayareafanatic says:

Clod the grinch. CK will do his best to make sure that happens….

      • claude balls says:

        @bay:

I think you misread my intent. Perhaps I should have used an emoticon. Would you have viewed the comment differently if I had added an :) at the end?

Clod? Really? What are you, 15?

I wonder if I could come up with a sophomoric misspelling of your screen name. Hmmm, let’s see … What simple change to “bayareafanatic” or “bay” could I make to annoy you? … A change that you would view as an insulting questioning of your manhood. … Hmmm … Maybe change just one letter, but which one? Think, claude, think.

        This is already boring.

    • AngusinCanada says:

I hadn’t heard that yet. Awesome. I also rode him to a spot in my fantasy football league finals. Of course, I also have Marshawn Lynch, so……..pretty confident I won’t be able to rely on him this week. :)

    • Crab15 says:

Congrats Kap! 4 TD passes on road, vs hottest team on planet (who’s unbeatable in December), in freezing rain? Only his 5th start? Not bad!

    • philly9er says:

I think AP deserved it more because he is the only weapon on his team and he still put up over 200 yards, plus Kaep did have 4 fumbles in that game.
