Justin Smith misses third straight practice with elbow injury

Justin Smith did not practice Friday afternoon. He did not practice Thursday or Wednesday afternoon, either.

Jim Harbaugh will address the media in about 15 minutes, and he may shed some light on Smith’s playing status for Sunday night’s game against the Seattle Seahawks. Considering Smith could not even practice in a limited capacity this week, it seems doubtful he will play in just two days.

Smith injured his elbow in the second half of last week’s game against the Patriots. He has started 185 games in a row.

The ONE guy on the team that cannot be replaced

I believe Sherman has not practiced all week either for Seattle.

Yeah, but it wasn’t because of injury. He was in New York for his appeal hearing. I hope he is the kind of player who needs to practice in order to play well in the game, but suspect that is nothing more than wishful thinking.

What about Manningham ? If he can play I think he will be a key player against the Seahawks .

Cam Johnson promoted to the 53 man roster. That may be a hint regarding Smith’s availability….

    @ Grant:

Should we assume that Harbaugh was his normal forthcoming self and that you have a clear idea as to whether or not Smith will play?

The Cowboy will be regulated to just a dude Sunday Night. RJF will do just fine. McDonald will have to step up his game to another level to help out with the immense loss. Don’t expect to see him back until the playoffs.

The Niners survived a road game at Seattle without Willis last year, they’ll survive without Smith. Don’t believe the hype. The Niners outclass Seattle in to many areas.
