This is the transcript of Colin Kaepernick’s Week 17 Wednesday press conference, courtesy of the 49ers.
You’ve had a little bit of time to digest and look forward now to this week. Just what are your thoughts at this point?
“Have to get this win this week.”
What did you learn from that game? They always say when you lose, you learn something.
“You learn something whether you win or lose. You just have to take it, move on to the next week and try to get better.”
Some of the injuries to the receiving corp., what do you see from WR A.J. Jenkins and just his progression this year out at practice?
“He’s a good receiver. He’s someone that has a lot of speed, a lot of quickness. We want to get the ball in his hands.”
What kind of impression has WR Ricardo Lockette made on you?
“He’s another great receiver, great target, very aggressive to the ball, a lot of great speed.”
What did the tortoise get for Christmas?
“Some vegetables.” [laughs]
You say you learn if you win or you lose. What do you think your biggest lesson, what have you learned the most since you’ve started a month ago?
“I don’t know what the biggest lesson would be. I think the things you take week-to-week is really going to depend on what the defense is doing and what you’re seeing out there.”
Do you think you’re a different quarterback now than you were before that Bears game?
“I think I’m the same quarterback. I’m trying to improve every week, but the only thing that’s really different is I have some experience under my belt.”
What was happening in the first half of that game with a couple of delay of game calls and a couple of timeouts? What was the reasoning behind that?
“We had a couple of problems with communication.”
In term of getting the plays in or just hearing it?
“It was just, we were having problems with some people hearing. Crowd noise was a little bit of a factor.”
What are you trying to accomplish just this week getting ready for the playoffs? What are, beside the victory, what do you want to see in terms of the offensive function?
“This week we’re trying to get a win. That’s the only thing we’re focused on right now.”
With some of the injuries, [WR] Mario [Manningham], [WR] Kyle [Williams], some of the receiving corp., what gives you confidence that you guys can overcome some of these injuries?
“We have great players that are backing them up, from A.J. to Lockette, to [WR] Chad Hall, [WR] Ted Ginn. They’re all great players, so we have a lot of depth at that position.”
What about just the prospect of developing chemistry with guys that haven’t been in games with you before but you’ve played on the practice field out there with them? Does any of that carry over?
“Yeah, it definitely does. I think that’s why we aren’t too worried about it because I’ve had a lot of experience with most of those guys.”
You mentioned Lockette, but what about Chad Hall? What has he shown you?
“He’s a great receiver. He has a great understanding of the game. He’s very quick. He knows how to get open.”
Have you had much time to throw with him since he’s been here?
“Not as much as the other receivers.”

Niner Hater i wish you health and happiness in the 2013! GO NINERSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Posted like a true, blue Silver and Bleak Chokeland Fader fan…..afterall, who better to judge ‘bottom feeders’, than a fan of the Faders……… perennial bottom feeders in the AFC West……
Who is your team Niner hater? Sounds like you want to be a wannabe
Niner hater..You dont happen to be a fan of that team that no one care about from a city no one cares cares about from a state no one cares about..Every year these Seacock fans run their lips yet your franchise has not won one superbowl ring in its existence yet you act like your some legendary NFL franchise..Lol it must suck your city and team is always in the shadow of SF even when we were terrible we get more coverage than you lames…Now go get your flannel and your umbrella and go look at your empty trophy case.
Look at the scoreboard. The 49ers got their collective clocks cleaned. The last Superbowl came in 1994. This “niner hater” is correct in his assumption that they will get knocked out in the first round of the playoffs based on the way they executed in Seattle.
Or they could blow out teams in the playoffs like they did against the Bears.
The problem with our team at the moment is that we don’t know what to expect from week to week.
I’m not sure if the team has put a total team win together since the Bears win, when both the offense and the defense played great.
The offense had a great game against the Patriots, but the defense struggled in the second half.
Against the C-hawks the offense and our defense was sub-par. Total team defeat top to bottom, period.
I can only hope that we get VD, J.Smith back strong in the playoffs and that our young players like CK and LMJ and even A.J. Jenkins can make productive contributions.

“The offense had a great game against the Patriots, but the defense struggled in the second half.”
Offense had a great game in the first half, but could not get a first down in the second half during the Pats big run. The offense in that particular game needed to control the ball and they did a mighty fine job in the first half, not so much in the second half.
Hope is a lifeboat, but in football it is a mirage.
Seahawks fans were suicidal after losing to Miami. Manic depressive -take a pill. n We should all be grateful that the NFCW isn’t an embarassment anymore.
Hard to believe out of the 52 players on the roster, and with Williams on the shelf, Ginn is the only one that returns punts, that is not good.
bottom feeders?? lol is that you brandon jacobs?

@Undercenter
That’s partially correct Undercenter. If I recall, the Patriots offense controlled the majority of the clock in the second half. When our offense finally did get good field position after LMJ’ kickoff return, we had the quick strike to Crabtree. The defense absolutely relaxed in the 2nd half of that game, and we must be cognizant that this was Tom Brady at the helm as well.
Our offense seemed to have the ‘strike’ ability in that game that gave me reason to believe that we could scored more than the Patriots. I couldn’t say the same thing for our defense in the 2nd half of that game.
The Bears game still stands out as our last complete big win from top to bottom. I believe that S.Young was just quoted as saying that if he were the coach he would use the same game plan used against the Bears.
That’s the model I would use as well.
We are doomed, it’s the end of the world, all is lost, who should we blame? And, uh, think I should punch the 96″ out in my Streetglide to 103′? Pretty expensive but you get a bit more torque…
We won’t beat the Packers in Green Bay. We can beat whoever at home. Hope the Vikings win!
