Richard Sherman probably will play against 49ers Sunday night

Ed Werder is reporting Richard Sherman, the Seahawks’ No.1 cornerback and best defensive player, likely will play against the 49ers Sunday night.

Sherman is missing his third straight day of practice today to fly to New York to appeal his four-game suspension for using performance enhancing drugs. Werder says the NFL will not rule until next week, so Sherman should be able to play this week against the 49ers.

I want to beat Seattle with there best playing. I don’t want excuses from the seachickens.

Hasn’t Goodell ever heard the expression, “Justice delayed, is justice denied?”

Come on, Roger! Bring the hammer down, now!

  3. wtf says:

I guess he’s willing to risk any playoff games on the road and then all the remaining suspension at the start of the season next week

Glad to see that he has a good chance of playing. I myself would like the Hawks to be at full strenght, in order to quiet any debate that will ensue after the Niners beat the crap out of the Hawks, using the arguement that we did not have our best players for that game.

      Under,

In the short term, I agree with you. But if Sherman doesn’t play in the game, the 49ers win [effectively, securing a first round bye] and go on to win the SB, is anyone going to remember that Sherman didn’t play in Sunday’s game?

Besides, if Sherman is not allowed to play, it’s of his own doing, he cheated and was caught.

Very true in what you say, I just love the challenge of beating the best to become the best. I am not saying the Hawks are the best but they are very good team, well, until we play them Sunday nite that is.

Come on “4th and niner” fans. You really don’t expect to come into Seattle and “beat the crap” out of the “seachickens” do you? If you do think this you are in for a rude awakening. We barely lost to you in your house with a more simplified offense and we had about 8 key dropped passes. I love this rivalry as we are basically identical teams. All real hawk fans hate the niners, out of sheer respect. You all will be surprised at how good the hawks are now. They’re not the same team you played earlier. That being said, we do need Sherman to play. Already missing browner will make some hawk fans to give excuses, but not me. This will be a battle that will hinge on 1 or 3 key plays. And whose young qb makes less mistakes. One simply does not march into Seattle and beat the crap out of the Seahawks. Go Hawks! And good luck…

      • Grimey9er says:

Good luck to you too. This will be a fantastic game and a learning experience for those around the country who aren’t very knowledgable about the NFC west, which is the best division in football. 9ers are a great road team and Seattle hasn’t exactly had to play competitive teams in the last couple of weeks. Get ready for a football fight!

  5. BOS49er says:

With Browner out we should just pick on whoever is on the other side. Sherman will be matched with Crab and Moss and MM (if he’s playing) should feast on the trufant or anyone else. Plus Id like to see some more VD in this one. while chancelor and thomas are good their LB’s can be had in coverage

  6. bayareafanatic says:

I love that for the first time in a long time we have a meaningful divisional game. This division should be the toughest division in football going forward. Well except for the Cards….

      Bay,
Expect it to become even more grueling next year when the Milky Blues puts on the Cardinal red in Arizona*.

*That was an attempt at sarcasm.

Does anyone know if Manningham will be playing?

    • 23Jordan says:

      Js,

Im guessing mario wont be ready. I think we would’ve heard something by now if he was coming back this week. We could sure use him. We need a ball game from VD.

Why did we not get to the SuperBowl last year…? FUMBLES! (Kyle Williams) What would be the #1 reason we don’t win the SuperBowl this year…? FUMBLES! ( who is the most likely person to “fumble” the ball this year on the 49er’s?) Colin Kaepernick! Stop fumbling the damn football..Colin. Thank you,
Even if it does result in a touchdown occasionally…..”I’m Frank (the tank) Gore, and I approve this message….and remember to get out and vote for me “Pro Bowl” this year in Hawaii.
Go Niners! Call me a – Joseph “Smither” errrr. Alex Smither… 49er loving Mormon fan,
but I could quickly be baptized a “Kaepernicker”…even if you would have to go through a long painful process of “tattooing”(if that’s a word)?
I know Mitt Romney, a Mormon, lost….but, Steve Young a Mormon, won….Alex Smith a mormon? I don’t know and don’t really care. I just know that he doesn’t fumble the ball and has just as good a chance as Colin to win the SuperBowl for us…Chances with Tolzien at QB and winning? Probably about 2%…so don’t start him Jim…Please! Don’t start Tolzien, in the Superbowl. Thanks.
I know somebody is going to comment that they “I’m, (type name) don’t approve this message” , so go ahead if you have to.
Seahawks get blown out of the sky this week 28-13

  9. J-Dog says:

Grant, will the Hawks now just double up Aldon with JS out of the game? How do you see our pass rush with him out. Can RJF be effective?
    Thanks

  10. J-Dog says:

RJF is the backup DT. That is a great suggestion, Grant will have some insight on that I hope.

  11. old coach says:

@Grimey sorry i came in to the middle of a conversation and popped off. Maybe i should have an idea of what posters are responding to before i open my mouth.

    • Grimey9er says:

no big deal old coach. I’m usually the last person to bring up religion but I just saw the Book of Mormon last week (it was hilarious and I highly recommend seeing it to anyone that isn’t overly sensitive) and I find mormons to be pretty ridiculous in general and easy targets to make fun of(all you have to do is point out the truth). Go Niners!

Given how many of these appeals are actually won by the players they should still be suspended during the appeal process.
