  56. NinerNation says:

GORE TD!!!!!!!!!! Champion type drive right there man. Beautiful, nothing but clutch.

  57. Giant Fan says:

Super pressure on Matty Ice now, a choker’s worst nightmare.

  58. big niner says:

get a stop, run out the clock with a TD would be nice for us right about now.

  59. 49er42 says:

    Yes!
Now we need a Defensive stop and then a TD drive to make the Falcons have to score twice.

  61. Domingo says:

I am not sure I will survive this game.

  83. IntelligentAj says:

Way too many coverage Breakdowns right now

  84. tkamB says:

    Clearly hit the ground

  85. BigP says:

There is no excuse for not getting more pressure on Ryan. He is a statue.

  86. michael says:

Thought the ground can’t help the catch looked like it popped up between his legs.

  87. Loony says:

He used the floor to keep possession to keep it in his hand I’ve seen calls against us before ruled incomplete when we had catches like that against the Seahawks and patriots but man this the 4th quarter in ATL and can be the game I don’t think the refs want that heat in atl

  88. MontanaMan16 says:

    WOW!

  89. MontanaMan16 says:

    Terrible call!

  90. NinerNation says:

    Running out of time.
The D has to stop them.

  95. big niner says:

    f these refs!!!

  96. MontanaMan16 says:

Moss coaching Kap right there. Thats why we need Moss!

  97. dc9er says:

    oh man :(

  98. oneniner says:

Protect the endzone and we win.

  99. Stan says:

Any chance Atl. tries a FG?

  100. Domingo says:

    Hosed!

  101. Fourth & Alex says:

WE WILL STOP THEM. I BELIEVE.

  102. NinerNation says:

If this defense does not stop them or hold them to a field goal…. i don’t ever want to hear this 49er defense compared to that great Raven Super Bowl defense of the early 2000′s.

  103. big niner says:

come on D one more stop!!

  104. BigP says:

This is the moment for this defense to prove that they are who they think they are.

  105. JohnJPDX says:

If Atl scores Akers shouldn’t even get on the plane home

  106. Loony says:

Field goal we want no TDs D step up now or never let’s go baby

  107. Domingo says:

    Gotta believe!

  108. MontanaMan16 says:

    Yes! Ryan took one there!

  109. NinerNation says:

Strip the ball when the ball carrier is held up like that!

  110. Loony says:

They gonna go for I bet

  124. NinerNation says:

    Bleed clock bleed……..

  125. MontanaMan16 says:

9ers are going to the SUPER BOWL brothas!!!!

  126. Loony says:

    I feel like a sage.

  134. michael says:

Gonzalez just muttered I was wide open.

  135. Stan says:

    Terrible calls by the 49ers.

  136. JohnJPDX says:

You can’t give them the ball back

  137. MontanaMan16 says:

    Bootleg that or some misdirection!

  138. NinerNation says:

You can’t give Matty a chance like the Seattle game.

  139. MontanaMan16 says:

They’ll have enough time for a hail mary!

  140. 55Niner says:

WTF is Harbaugh thinking about? Another delay penalty….this is ridiculous for this stage in the season….

  141. Coffee's for closers says:

god daamn jesus frickin christ who calls a god daamn shot gun play wen you’re trying to run out the clock. line up take the snap and hand off the f’n ball for christs sake. how many god damn things can go wrong with a shotgun snap right at their goalline????!!!!!!!??????

  142. Giant Fan says:

Matty Ice is still a choke, and ATL’s D is still soft.

Get the rain gear ready for JH.

  143. Stan says:

  144. Stan says:

  158. Domingo says:

We held them to 7 in the second half!

  159. 49er42 says:

    Super bowl!

  160. FlyingAnchor says:

This has been a LOOOOOONG drought since the glory days….been so long I can’t even remember how it feels…

  161. NinerNation says:

This just in…”The 49ers are being investigated for assaulting the Falcons in their own backyard 28 – 24 after being down 17 points. No one has been arrested or charged.”

  162. Stan says:

The 49ers postgame show on Comcast? Dull. Ch5 is better. Comcast Raider postgame is better then them all.

  163. FlyingAnchor says:

Setting up for the Harbowl! Bring him on!

  164. Nick says:

Did I just see Merton Hanks escorting Willis off the field?

  165. Hoferfan67 says:

Never a doubt. Statistically, they just didn’t measure up albeit they are a very good team.

  166. MontanaMan16 says:

    I hope the Ravens win!

  167. Loony says:

SUPERBOWL here we come wuuuuuuuuuuuuhhh hahaaaaaaaaa yea man now we win this SB sh*t and we the greates team in NFL history we will tie the stealers for six rings but the difference we will be 6 and 0 at the SB and thus making us what nobody in history has 6 and 0 I am one of the happiest people in the world right now love you guys all 9er fans we all share something real special a history and pride like no other the statement and pride of saying I am a niner

  168. Big Suede says:

Kaep was an absolute hero today. hitting 76% of his passes today and passer rating of 127 in the biggest game yet.

This is what legends are based on. And I am so happy the defense stood tall when it was needed. Stressful game- but soooooo happy!!!

  169. Brotha Tuna says:

Right then. Breath returning to normal, pulse rate not yet.

  176. RolloTomasi says:

    Hooray.

Glad Falcons didn’t score at 1:33. Not sure if my heart could take the stress if we needed an Akers FG to tie.

  177. dc9er says:

    gotta win one more!

  178. Loony says:

I don’t I don’t want to make this a brother rivalry to stir up the harbaugh fam lol I want that dreaded Brady back and show them that our win at New England wasn’t because they played bad like they say that we really are the better team and that Kap can match him throw for throw if he has too

  179. JohnJPDX says:

    Eddie D

  180. 49er42 says:

    Eddie!

  181. foamingatdamouth says:

Winning from 17-0 down, the Niners are a team of destiny! Hey Grant, did they use Vernon enough for you today!

  182. Chewie says:

Oh man! I have to go to the hospital now to get an EKG! Defense showed up when it counted, this was the most memorable 49er game I’ve ever seen. Plus they covered the spread (for some)!!!!!

  183. RolloTomasi says:

Nice halftime adjustments on D. Salute Fangio and the Niners D.

    • tkamB says:

Yep only 7 points allowed after the half, that was helped by some falcons mistakes leading to TOs but still.

  184. undercenter says:

Great game, one for the books.

  185. Neal says:

I want to thank Alex Smith because without him, this would not be possible.

  186. Arjinca says:

The only thing I want to see written on this blog is a note of apology from Grant to Greg Roman for his witch hunt on the OC. He called some great games during the playoffs and stayed patient.

    • NinerNation says:

Grant does not have to do anything. Grant called for and predicted Kap to start. Good call on his part if you ask me.

    • Neal says:

He does not have to do squat, yes Roman has put a couple of great games plans together but other games , not so great.

  187. big niner says:

    Congrats niner fans!!!

  188. NinerNation says:

Kap is so cool under pressure. Down 17 points on the road in the NFC Championship?

    • BigP says:

Kaep was unbelievable. He was the guy I saw hyping everybody up after falling behind by 17.

    • Hoferfan67 says:

CK was cool and what was better, the coaches didn’t lose patience. They stuck with the balanced approach.

      • NinerNation says:

Yea Hof, i’m glad the 49ers stayed balanced with the running game as well. It opened up passing lanes & kept ATL off balance. They were also so concerned with Kap taking off on the read option runs that Gore and James were benefitting from it. Kap made good decisions not only throwing on key downs but on giving the ball up on read option runs too.

  189. Italian niner says:

One more!thanks to all niners faithful i am sharing this from far away!

  190. Loony says:

And know one thing though it really doesn’t matter bring who ever I can say this if we win the Superbowl u can rest assure another 2 or 3 follow we aren’t a one win then another 5 years or so anger one like the giants that were talking all that smack last year that we should’ve won but when we win we do it in dynasty mode we build and take over eras and leave our players QBs receivers defense all in the history books when we build our dynasty and fellow fans our dynasty has arrived this decade is going once again to be known as a niner one

  191. adam says:

Holy cow what a roller coaster!

    • msclemons67 says:

My brain still isn’t sure we won.

I am going to be late to work tomorrow. I think I need a heart transplant.

  192. 49er42 says:

Thanks to ALL the coaches and players.
Now let’s go and win the Super Bowl!
Wouldn’t it be great if both the Giants and Niners are champs?

  193. big niner says:

See Gore do the dirty bird? lol

  194. Domingo says:

We came back on the road from a 17-0 deficit in the NFC Championship. What a game!

  195. MontanaMan16 says:

What’s the difference between the Falcons and a dirty bathtub?

Dirty bathtub has a ring! lol

  196. fesnyc says:

i am going to say this now, and hopefully just once, but while our Defense pitched a shutout in the 2nd half, their play in the first half was NOT Super Bowl quality. our D is going to need to play MUCH better than recent efforts (2nd half of NE game, Seattle game, this game) if we are to win against either team.

  197. IntelligentAj says:

For the first time since I was a Teen, My Niners are going to the Superbowl… I can’t believe it right now

  198. fesnyc says:

Frank Gore put in some long years on some crappy Niner teams – glad to see him getting some nationwide love here

  199. Coffee's for closers says:

Man it was really special especially for us old timers to see Eddie D with the team during a huge celebration moment. Really brought back the good memories.

Hell yeaaaaahhhhhhhhh man we got this man we are good and for those comments about Alex yes indeed yes congrats to him he was outstanding for these last two years even before he didn’t have much to work with but we wish him well unless he wants to stay behind Kap I case Kap ever god forbid gets hurt but I doubt it he is a well established player and will def be a starter and play the game he loves else where best of luck I’m still a huge Alex fan but as of right now sorry not any longer is my attention on him I’m all about kaep and am amazed how even with insufficient games to get that experience you need to really play the playoffs he handles like he’s been here befor true sign of a great one I think going down with Montana an Young definitely, hey sometimes that’s how great players emerge from the shadows of another look at Brady – Bledsoe was their starter got injured and Brady came in and never left same as keep great. Just great team all of us great fans we are niners props to gore for real and def coach man thank god Justin came in on time for the playoffs that was huge and scary Alden is just going to get better and when Justin retires he’ll be ready to take over

    Great team win!
CK made great passes. Gore ran hard. Moss showed up.
MVP has to go to the entire O-Line. They started to take over in the 2nd half.
I like the Niners chances against either Jim’s brother or cheater Belichick.

  203. Sad Panda says:

So proud of this team! Kap was amazingly tough mentally. Gore.. Davis… James… So awesome!

Blazy bla… I hate that especially a fan like myself that doesn’t give up til it’s over I kept pursuing positive comments and feeding off of positive fans in here and watched our D grow in the second half I don’t even want to talk what mistakes and what we could’ve done the coach knows what to correct we won that’s it anything else screw it if anybody has anything to say we could’ve been up by another 2 touchdowns know that and we were still up that’s how good we are

Fantastic, tremendous and any other adjectives you want to use. I will also say that no matter what happens in the SB, this game puts to rest (FINALLY!!!!!) the whole Alex Smith – Aaron Rodgers draft. Yeah, one of the monumental draft mistakes of all time, yadda yadda yadda -= and ultimately it all resulted in Harbaugh and Kaep being here, so … all’s well that ….. well you know the saying. Let’s totally celebrate for a few days, guys, before we worrry about the next game, OK?

  223. oldcoach says:

If you think we’re coming back from this you must have anterograde amnesia that started sometime around week three of this season.

      • Coffee's for closers says:

You half wits need to learn how to f’n read. I didn’t blast Kaep, 11 f’n players are on the field at the same time and Kaep isn’t even the one to score the winning TD so how in the world is it Kaepernick that pulled off the greatest comeback?? I said it was the 49ers that pulled it off not Kaepernick so learn to read you f’n moron.

      • ribico says:

Coffee, QBs traditionally get the credit for comebacks. Don’t like it? Take it up with tradition.

      • Coffee's for closers says:

They do if they throw the winning TD or throw for some ungodly about of yards in an attempt to comeback and neither is what happened today. The 49ers rode on the back of Frankie Gore to victory lane, give credit where it’s due for once.

      • Pork_Bun_Luncheon says:

Colin Kaepernick is the best QB in the NFL.

      • NinerNation says:

Nope Coffee you are the “f’n moron” as you say. You took what i asked out of context quoting what ESPN said word for word. Its obvious it must still burn you up the Kap was at the reigns of that great 49er comeback. Burn Baby Buuuuuuuuuurn! LMAO

Coffee the Falcon fan. Better luck next year coffee.

      • Coffee's for closers says:

That’s right you genius IQ individual. I’ve been posting on this forum for over 5 years as an undercover Falcons fan on the off chance that at some points these two teams would play, right?

You’re as dumb as the day is long you know that right? I mean I daily see people mock and criticize just how stupid you are 23Jordan so i can only imagine that at some point even you will have to accept it.

      • MontanaMan16 says:

Not a day for fighting guys! Let’s celebrate cuz We Goin’ To The Superbowl Baby!!!!

      • Bbbthewuss says:

NN is sad for his Precious.

  227. Coffee's for closers says:

How long will it take before NFL refs are able to consistently call the reception rule correctly. All this business about touching the ground and/or moving first is nonsense. Figure out what the rule is and then teach your f’n refs how to call it correctly, is that too much to ask?

    • msclemons67 says:

That wasn’t a catch. The non-call on Bowman’s PI was a make-up call. It evened out.

I don’t care if the refs suck as long as they suck equally for both teams. Years of watching the NFL has lowered my expectations of the zebras.

      • Pork_Bun_Luncheon says:

I don’t think it was P.I. It was within 5 yards and the contact was mutual and occurred before the ball was in the air.

      • Prime Time says:

        Welcome back Porky!

      • Pork_Bun_Luncheon says:

What a studly performance put forth by the defense. I liked Patrick Willis’ classy interview after the game. Also liked hearing that Vernon and some of the other guys gave speeches last night.

  228. Stan says:

Brady or the other Harbaugh…its going to be a great Super Bowl. Atlanta? imposters!..if they had made it!

    • NinerNation says:

You should have seen Falcon fans on the profootballtalk site, they were talking so much junk after they went up 17 and said it was over and we were dead & over rated.

  229. Rebelscum says:

Thank you harbaugh, thank you 49ers! Thanks to all the bloggers! Father passes away last April! Miss him! I am a better man and father thanks to him! Go ninners!

  230. 23jordan/ says:

I hate to mention the elephant in the room. What the HELL are we going to do with Akers??????? I say we don’t kick another field goal outside of 35 yards in the Super Bowl. Akers is gone next year.

    • NinerNation says:

Oh my god i almost forgot about him choking away that kick. Quite the dilema for Harbs and Balke, they are allowed to make 4 roster moves once you get to the Super Bowl. I wonder if they bring back Cundiff?

    • ribico says:

Well, one elephant has been sent to the graveyard – that 2 out of 3 nonsense.

And Akers? We’ll trust Harbaugh will do what is needed for success. Right, Jordo?

      • 23jordan/ says:

Gonna have to trust him. I don’t use Akers outside of the 35.

      • ribico says:

You have to admit, hitting the very tip of the upright took a pretty good aim. ;)

      • Grimey9er says:

He shoulda got 2 points for that kick.

      • 23jordan/ says:

Bad part is, if that ball is a foot higher, it’s good. I still say we replace him. I don’t care what anyone says. We all are thinking the same way when he comes into the game. We are worried that he’s going to miss another field goal. The sickening part is, Akers is thinking the same thing. He is of no use to us. He did have 5 touchbacks though. I say we cut him anyway. He can’t be trusted.

    Prediction: Falcons blow out 49ers

Nolan will have the ends play wide and tell them to stay home removing the option and forcing Kaep to hand off to Gore or James. On the plays he does get out he’ll find a spy waiting for him. Nolan wont be foolish like Capers and play much to any man so there’s little chance of Kaepernick having any of those clear lane runs like he did against GB. The defensive backs will always be in a position to see the QB. Without any of the gash plays offered by the success we’ve had in the pistol the offense will struggle to consistently maintain drives. The Falcons going up early will essentially force us to give up the run game and become one dimensional. Once we give up the threat of the option they’ll start to double Michael and Vernon leaving us to try and move the ball with Moss and Jenkins. Delanie will drop 3 passes again.

The double threat from the wide outs will leave Gonzalez open all day long for easy first downs in the middle of the field and on out patterns. They’ll run Turner right at Justin Smith who will end up leaving the game in the second or third quarter. Once they’ve established success with Turner it’ll be over as Ice starts to play action and pick us apart with his double headed monster.

The Falcons have been underestimated all year and done nothing but win games. They’re a #1 seed who is a 4 point under dog at home and although many discount the effect of that I don’t and believe the Falcons are going to come out with both guns blazing and our track history suggests that we wont be ready.

    49ers 13 Falcons 30

    Score by Qtr
    Atl 7 10 10 3
    SF 3 3 0 7

    Hopefully I’m wrong.

“Nolan will have the ends play wide and tell them to stay home removing the option and forcing Kaep to hand off to Gore or James.”

Handing off to Gore and LMJ is not a bad thing!

” The defensive backs will always be in a position to see the QB.”

And in doing so, they will lose track of where the 9er reciever went.

“The double threat from the wide outs will leave Gonzalez open all day long for easy first downs in the middle of the field and on out patterns.”

Thats what the Saints said. I don’t remember their TE doing much.

” The Falcons going up early will essentially force us to give up the run game and become one dimensional. ”

And how many teams have done that to us?

        We’ve come a long way!

I’m just so happy man I’m dying of impatience now just want the Super Bowl to be here wish it was tomorrow damn I want to walk around this NY infested area and show them last year was bs we had that it would’ve been 2 back to back already but whatever we here can’t wait

I kno you did tell me it’s kool and after the patriots game I wrote a lot of stuff about me being relaxed now that I see the youngin shows that he needs no experience he is experience lol love it bro love it

      • Giant Fan says:

“Kap did NOT make the difference this game”

Really? I seem to remember him completing several long passes inside the ten, and playing a great game in general. His calm demeanor and mad skills made a huge difference.

      • NinerNation says:

Dee Phiant you’re foolish if you think Kap mad no difference in this game. Kap made all the passes (laser shots!) & all the decisions on the read option runs. The Falcons were so concerned with Kap running it opened up everything for Gore & James. Kap decides whether he gives it up or goes on read option runs. All Kap all day and a great 49er team win.

Right on. Niners were dominating the regular season game until we went into conservative mode. I don’t think we would make that mistake again. As for the ravens, I don’t think they could hang with our explosive offense

Neither one of these teams is scaring me right now. Maybe I am giddy from our win but I’m feeling confident watching this game.

    Grant,
When are you going to post your grades?

  256. Tyrant.com says:

If we need an extra point at the end of the game to win the super bowl, maybe we should go for 2

  257. Domingo says:

    Get ready for the Haur-Bowl.

  258. BigP says:

It’s looking like a Harbaugh Bowl is definitely a possibility.

Ravens beating Pats right now 21 – 13. Joe Flacco is finally starting to heat up.

  260. BigP says:

Pats just turned the ball over. The hype machine will be going full speed if it is a brother on brother Super Bowl. I do believe the Niners match up with the Ravens better than the Patriots though. They are my preferred matchup.

    • BigP says:

      28-13, wow.

    • NinerNation says:

I have to give this more thought. I’m not sure who the preferred matchup for me is. On one hand we have beaten the Pats but they throw so much and we no longer have a 100 percent Justin Smith for the pass rush, and with the Ravens they no longer have a great defense but are more physical and have been playing better run defense now compared to earlier in the year.

    • NinerNation says:

2 minutes and 20 seconds to go in the 4th quarter and the Baltimore defense has held Brady and his Pats to only 13 points!

“I always had my senses! This was a TEAM effort, and the nines are a great team. Let’s not forget that Kap did NOT make the difference this game, it was the running game! And let’s NOT forget that the 49ers NEVER LOST A SUPER BOWL!!!!”

I guess you will never be ALL-IN!
