12:45 Ryan pump fakes and throws it up for Julio Jones in the end zone. He jumps over Tarell Brown and catches the touchdown. They’re reviewing the play to see if Jones got his second foot in bounds.

12:48 The refs confirm the catch was a touchdown. 17-0 Falcons. Julio Jones has six catches, 120 yards and 2 TDs six seconds into the second quarter. He’s destroying Tarell Brown, the 49ers’ best cornerback.

12:51 Gore takes the ball on a read option and gains nine yards up the middle. Second and one.
12:52 Gore takes the ball on a read option again and gains one. First and 10 from the SF 30.

1:05 From the shotgun, Ryan takes a hit and throws and completes it to White, who beat Carlos Rogers. Gain of 14.
1:06 Turner runs up the middle for six. Second and four at the ATL 40.
1:06 Ryan drops back and has pressure up the middle. He throws quickly and errantly to Rodgers in the left flat. Incomplete. Third and four.
1:07 Ryan floats one out to Rodgers in the right flat and it’s incomplete. The Falcons will punt for the first time today.
1:08 The 49ers almost block it. Ted Ginn Jr. makes a fair catch at the SF 18.
1:11 Kaepernick hits Vernon Davis for a big gain, but it’s called back due to a Iupati hold. First and 19 from the 9.
1:12 James runs around the right side and gain three yards. Second and 16.
1:12 Kaepernick hits Vernon Davis on a stick route. He breaks a tackle and ends up gaining 19 yards and first down.
1:13 Gore takes the ball on a read option and gains nothing up the middle. Second and 10 at the SF 31.
1:14 Kaepernick scrambles around the left end for a 23-yard gain. First and 10 from the ATL 46.
1:15 Kaepernick hands off to Gore, who runs up the middle for two yards. After the play, Stephen Nicholas is flagged 15 yard for unnecessary roughness. First and 10 at the ATL 29.
1:16 Vernon Davis runs a wheel route and Kaepernick hits him for a 25-yard gain. First and goal at the 4 yard line. That’s the two-minute warning.
1:19 Kaepernick play fakes and hits Vernon Davis in the end zone. Touchdown. 17-14 Falcons with 1:55 left in the second quarter.
1:22 Touchback Akers. Both the Falcons and 49ers have three timeouts.
1:22 Ryan hits White for 15 yards.
1:23 Ryan throws to White again, this time incomplete. Second and 10.
1:23 Willis blitzes, he’s picked up and Ryan hits Gonzalez over the middle for 16.
1:24 Ryan throws to White, and Culliver is flagged for illegal contact. First and 10 at the SF 44.
1:24 Ryan throws a deep out to White, who catches it in front of Brown. Gain of 13. First and 10 at the SF 31.
1:25 Ryan has a clean pocket and he hits Jones over the middle for 15 yards. The 49ers call timeout. First and 10 at the SF 16.
1:27 Ryan completes it to Gonzalez for six yards. Second and four from the SF 10. Timeout Atlanta.
1:28 Ryan completes it Gonzalez in the end zone for a touchdown. He beat Patrick Willis and Donte Whitner on the play. 24-14 Falcons with 25 seconds left in the first half. Not one run on that drive. The Falcons feel they can beat the 49ers passing.
1:28 On the kick return, James is tackled at the SF 15.
1:31 James tries to run around the right end and gains one yard. That’s the end of the first half.
1:40 P.O.D. is performing in the middle of the field. Haven’t heard from them since I was in sixth grade. They’re even worse than I remember.

I think the game plan predicted early week is spot on. Exploit SF’s inability to cover big receivers and tight ends. You’ll have plenty of room between the 20s.
I’m more concerned with SF Offense. They seem to have the shackles on Kaepernick again.

Seattle had much better Corners and Atl scored at will in the first half against them.

Whole team looks very flat, no emotion no fire. Secondary is getting abused with no pass rush.
I don’t know why we choose to defend instead of recieve? You have a young qb in Kap that’s on the road & needs to get in rhythm early, and for Atlanta to start the game the best defense for them is the dirty bird offense to put points up early and force us to throw.

- Getting the play in quickly and to the line with plenty of time to change the play, etc with the crowd noise.

Bowman was almost knocked off his feet on the first one in the first quarter. I think it’s gone unsaid what an amazing play it was that even with the pick play he was able to get a hand on the ball.

Well at least we know why Patrick Willis comes off the field instead of Bowman. Patrick is a liability in coverage. He is no longer the best linebacker on this team, let alone in the NFL. Our secondary is getting destroyed. We can’t win this game if our defense does not wake up. 271 yards passing?? Ridiculous.

Don’t be daft, Willis is still the best coverage and all around linebacker in the NFL, one tight touchdown throw doesn’t change that.
No way, Bowman has shown he is better in coverage and he showed it again in this game with the game saver on Roddy White on 4th down. So tell me who’s daft now? Bowman was and is better than Patrick in coverage. Patrick has to learn to get his head around. Gonzalez smoked Willis in the 1st half.
We thought our defense was playing poorly early in the season by giving up 24 points in a game. This defensive performance is pathetic unless they completely shut Atlanta out in the 2nd half. We aren’t even close to covering them. We aren’t getting pressure with 4. It’s time to start blitzing. We can’t just sit back and wait for White, Jones and Gonzalez to beat up. Somebody on defense has to force a turnover.

The pass rush is the problem Ryan is having way too much time to throw. The Defense is going to have to take some risks and pressure him and move him off his spots.
