Edwin Pope, an exemplar columnist from the Miami Herald, is going to his 47th Super Bowl this Sunday.
“My wife is going to her first Super Bowl this year,” Pope said.
Eileen and Edwin have been married 39 years.
“Wasn’t Eileen interested in going to a Super Bowl?”
“She was interested,” Pope said, “but I wasn’t. I had to work.”
So why now?
“I’m 84 years old,” Edwin said.

I’m happy your in good health, lived a long life and are able to see the 49ers get their 6th Trophy in person.
My wife of just 6+ years will be WATCHING her first Niner Superbowl with me. Stoked!!!
Nice my wife of 8 years will be doing the same. She’s just as stoked as I am. Wheeeew!
My wife will be counting down the minutes until Football season is over, will then grab the remote out of my hand and give the cold, shrill scream of victory while I dab my eyes with a tissue. The fact this will happen with a number of guests watching is even more disturbing. Party’s over for me after this game.
My wife will watch the game with me as she has most of the season and will say, “you aren’t yelling at the TV like you use to do, but you sure are pounding that laptop keyboard…are you on the blog again?”
