Gil Brandt isn’t too worried about Kaepernick

Gil Brandt was the vice president of player personnel for the Dallas Cowboys from 1960-1989. More than ever Brandt believes the NFL is a quarterback-driven league.

“The first thing you always look for in a team,” Brandt said, “is your quarterback OK?”

Meaning the quarterback is talented and productive and stable.

What about the 49ers’ quarterback?

“He is better than OK,” Brandt said with a smile.

The thing that was really annoying about certain people on this blog & other 49er forums with the whole QB switch, was how they would cherry pick certain stats to knock Kap & pointed to people like Trent Dilfer & Steve Young’s opinion for proof that it was the wrong move at the time. Those 2 guys (and a few others) looked at it from a player perspective & also had ulterior motives because of their friendship with Smith.

This was discussed on another board i post at. Instead, everyone should have taken heed to what people like Gil Brandt, Bill Polian & Jimmy Johnson constantly said. Ya know? Men that a have history of building championship teams and drafted Super Bowl winning QB’s and have a eye for talent. They were all in agreement with the move at the time and said they would have done the same thing when the move happened. Bill Polian was always praising Harbs on NFL 32 & various nfl shows all the time on ESPN. Jimmy Johnson was always pointing this out on the Fox morning shows as well. Bottom line.. …no “49er fan” should have doubted Harbaugh from day one because of his resume and history with QB’s.
