This is the live blog for the second quarter of Super Bowl XLVII. I’ll update this frequently with information and analysis from my living room in Oakland.

4:09 The Ravens punt it into the end zone. The 49ers will start their third offensive series from their 20.

4:09 Kaepernick drops back and hits Vernon Davis for 29 yards. First and 10 at the SF 49.
4:10 Kaepernick hits Davis again, this time for a gain of 11.
4:11 From the pistol, James runs up the middle and gains nine yards.
4:11 This time Gore runs up the middle for seven yards and a first down.
4:12 LaMichael James runs around the right end, gains no yards and fumbles. The Ravens recover.
4:13 More mistakes by the 49ers. The Ravens need to capitalize because the 49ers clearly can move the ball on the Ravens’ defense.
4:15 11:24 left in the second quarter. Ravens’ ball at their 24 yard line.
4:15 Courtney Upshaw punched the ball out and Arthur Jones recovered it.
4:16 Bernard Pierce runs around the left end and gains five yards.
4:16 Pierce runs up the middle for four yards. Third and one.
4:17 Pierce runs behind Leach for three yards and a first down.
4:17 Flacco hits Pitta in the flat. Gain of eight.
4:18 Pierce runs off right guard and gains two yards and a first down.
4:19 Flacco play fakes and hits Ed Dickson for 23 yards.
4:19 Rice runs up the middle for seven yards. Second and three from the 22.
4:20 Flacco play fakes and hits Dickson. Whitner tackles him down at the eight yard line, and is flagged for grabbing the face mask. Half the distance to the goal. First and goal from the four yard line.
4:21 Rice runs up the middle for two yards.
4:21 Flacco play fakes and hits Pitta in the end zone. Whitner left him wide open. He’s having a terrible first half. 14-3 Ravens with 7:10 left in the second quarter.
4:24 Are the Ravens’ different from Atlanta? That’s what it comes down to. The 49ers are down by double digits in the first half for the second game in a row. The Falcons couldn’t hold the lead. Can the Ravens?

4:38 Gore runs around the right edge for no gain.
4:39 Kaepernick drops back and throws to Moss. Cary Williams steps in front and almost picks it off. Third and ten.
4:40 Gore runs up the middle for six yards, and the 49ers have to punt.
4:40 Kaepernick double-clutched on that throw to Moss, which almost lead to an interception. He seems rattled.
4:43 Jacoby Jones returns the punt to the Ravens’ 44 yard line. 2:07 left in the half. The Ravens have two timeouts.
4:44 Jones drops a pass. He was running a quick slant. Second and 10.
4:44 Flacco throws deep for Torrey Smith and Culliver almost picks it off. Third and 10. Two minute warning.
4:48 Flacco throws deep to Jones and he’s wide open. He catches it and falls to the ground. No one touches him. He gets up and scores. He absolutely burned Culliver. 21-3 Ravens with 1:45 left in the first half, and the Ravens get the ball first in the second half.
4:50 James takes a knee in the end zone. First and 10 at the 20.
4:51 Kaepernick to Crabtree for six yards.
4:52 Kaepernick to Walker for a first down, plus a 15-yard roughing the passer penalty on Ngata.
4:52 First and 10 and the Ravens’ 45.
4:53 Jimmy Smith knocks away a pass for Moss, who is not fighting for passes.
4:53 Kaepernick hits Walker down the middle for 28 yards. First and 10 at the Ravens’ 17 yard line with 57 seconds left in the half.
4:55 Kaepernick hits Davis over the middle for eight yards.
4:55 Kaepernick hands off to Gore, who gains no yards. Third and two.
4:55 Kaepernick rolls right and goes down at the line of scrimmage. Three seconds left in the first half. Akers comes on the field to attempt a field goal.

5:12 Silver lining: Ray Rice is averaging 3.1 yards per carry and Bernard Pierce is averaging 3.0 yards per carry. The Ravens probably have to pass the ball to put the game away.

Culliver is getting torched and there is little pressure on Flacco in the pocket.
Flacco has been the hottest QB in the playoffs so it was imparitive that we put pressure on him coming in.
Second half we be different. We always make good adjustments at halftime and I expect to see a different team coming going forward.
21-6 is all the proof you need that this team got caught up in their own hype and once again came out flat. This is the Giants game all over again.

I love the 49ers, but sometimes I get tired of the spoiled, cocky fellow fans. How could anyone have possibly expected ANYTHING other than 21-3 or something close if they have watched EVERY GAME the 49ers have played this year. They favored 49ers after so many wagers went in for Ravens in Vegas…. I mean I don’t know the future, but I predicted 21-3 at half Ravens and 5-1 49ers in SB. I could be wrong. If Greg Roman can pull it together and calm Jim down, they can possibly pull it out. The defense lacks a Ray Lewis leader, which is why they haven’t rallied yet.
Need to utilize the read option more. Find that matchup problem with VD and RayRay. Play action plays with VD against EdReed would be huge since VD is a match up problem for almost EVERY player in the Ravens team. The run play hasn’t been working though, but we still need to establish it.
Simply a horrible first half. Defense has been rubbish so far, and need to convert red zone into 7 points.
I like how that idiot Phil Simms says we need to go conservative at the start of that drive.

I’m really hating the lack of aggressiveness show by the Offense. The end of the half and on our other FG drive we took mid range shots down field. A conservative gameplan is getting us nowhere. At least show some balls and try a downfield throw after we get the ball back on that fake FG

Third quarter is where the SB is won or lost. Its looking ugly atm, but a stop on the Ravens first drive and a TD on ours and this game can be turned around. Need some splash plays on D – sacks, INTs, FFs
Flacco isn’t seeing a Lombardi Tropy he’s eyeballing the bajillions of dollars he’s about to fleece the Ravens for on his next contract.
He’ll return to avg status after this season.
If this lack of aggressiveness continues, then this game is over.
