Live blog: 49ers cut day

This is the live blog for the 49ers’ final cut day. I’ll update this as news breaks. Jim Harbaugh will have a teleconference at 3:00 p.m.

10:50 According to Eric Branch’s twitter, the 49ers have cut Travis Johnson, Michael Thomas, Jason Schepler, Trenton Robinson, Wayne Tribue, Lavelle Hawkins and Brian Jennings. That means rookie long snapper Kevin McDermott probably will be the 49ers’ starting long snapper.

Also according to Kyle Bonagura, the 49ers will sign Owen Marecic.

10:55 I’m surprised the 49ers’ cut Trenton Robinson. Who do you think will be the starting gunner opposite C.J. Spillman?

10:57 It won’t be Kassim Osgood. The 49ers cut him, according to his twitter.

10:58 Why would the 49ers want to sign Marecic? He would be Bruce Miller’s backup. The 49ers already have two backup fullbacks – Anthony Dixon and Will Tukuafu. Do you think Marecic will take Dixon’s or Tukuafu’s roster spot?

11:00 The 49ers just cut seventh-round picks Carter Bykowski and Marcus Cooper, according to Matt Barrows. No surprises here.

11:12 Was it smart for the 49ers, a Super Bowl contender, to cut Brian Jennings? The Niners have to rely on a rookie long snapper this season.

11:33 The 49ers have cut Austin Collie, according to Barrows.

11:34 The 49ers have cut Chad Hall, according to Adam Caplan.

11:59 The 49ers have waived Darryl Morris, according to Matt Maiocco.
