The Press Democrat is implementing a soft pay wall for online content today, but the blogs will not be impacted. That means Inside the 49ers is free, and so is the Cohn Zohn and PD Preps.
PD ready for the amount of reporters that will go and ask for a raise now?
Interesting decision by the PD at a time when everyone else is pulling back from that pay model as it doesn’t work (See SF Chron etc.)
Good to here. We need to defend this blog’s title of being the best sports blog in the Bay area.
Glad to hear the blog is staying free. I haven’t posted before but I just wanted to say this is easily the most entertaining source of 49ers news. I find I disagree with you more often than not, and you aren’t the first to break stories but your blog is the first I check everyday. You have found a nice niche for yourself. And kudos to all the posters the coments section is half the fun.
Same here. Its become my favorite of the bunch due to the quickness and detail. And of course its fun reading all the comments and witty banter from everyone here.
It also doesn’t hurt this and the sac bee are the only sports site not blocked by my company’s internet security ;)
Check out Niners Nation! It’s a great site with amazing coverage.
Yay! I knew you loved us and were stick up for us Grant!
Seriously, I was a little worried I’d have to find a new place to call home…now I can just stay put!
I guess I’ll unpack….Thanks!
Golly gee! Lucky us!
Glad to hear it for my personal preference, but seems a smarter business move too. The original article had said what the exemptions were but didn’t mention any blogs.
As you were. Smoke ‘em if you got ‘em.
s-s-s-s-s-s-s- p-p-p !
(passes to BT)
Hear dat? There’s vipers here! Heehee
$Free.99 works every time!
That’s good to hear as I’m not sure the PD would want my loonies and toonies as payment.
The SacBee has sen its pay-for-content kill its online readership which certainly impacts advertisers…
Glad to see we wont be affected. The sac BEE started trying to squeeze people too, a while back, and thats how i ended up on here.
lol who pays for stuff on the Internet? anything on the Internet can be found for free elsewhere…
A new poll question has been created at Quest4Six.
That’s okay, Grant. I’m usually over on ArrowheadPride.com anyway.
You’re not one of those ..
kind guy .. I’ve been hearing about …
.. are you ?
I’ll be prepared for more pop up advertising.
adblock works wonders
good news. There is plenty of free services out there. Besides it is good to see the same folks banter over the bast 5 years back to MM days. I’d rather put up with a forced video opposed to some other headache…
Anyway, go Niners!!!
Grant, I am a huge fan of this blog! I love reading most, if not all of the articles, posts and Whitty banter. I am especially greatful it’s free! That being said, time is money and I believe one should be compensated for producing goods or services if there is demand for them. Clearly, you and the PD have provided us with a service we want. I believe you and the PD have earmed the right to be compensated for this. So if either or both you wish to charge I would understand.
That being said. Do you have to pay for columns?
I have just started posting, mainly because I just discovered this site. Probably will post more often in the future. Kudo’s to Grant for his early take on AJ and not being intimidated by the powers that be.
I would like to add that this has become for me a very good well rounded, go to resource of all things 49er and football beyond.
Serious facts from serious experts and challenges to the less than facts from less than serious experts and especially all those links make this an on top of it all, live wire resource.
And sure nice that it is still free.
Is Colin Kaepernick improving?
