49ers @ Broncos live blog: First quarter

This is the live blog for the first quarter of the 49ers’ Week 7 road game against the Denver Broncos. I will update this frequently with information and analysis from my living room.

5:26. The 49ers lose the toss. They will receive the kickoff.

5:30 Touchback.

5:33 DeMarcus Ware beats Joe Staley and sacks Colin Kaepernick on third-and-6 and the 49ers go three and out. Broncos’ ball at their 43 after the punt.

5:39 Peyton Manning throws a three-yard touchdown pass to Emmanuel Sanders on third and goal. Dontae Johnson ran into the official and fell. 7-0 Broncos. Manning completed a 32-yard pass to Demaryius Thomas on second-and-12 from the Broncos’ 41. The 49ers were playing man coverage and Michael Wilhoite was matched up on Thomas.

5:51 Phil Dawson misses a 51-yard field goal wide left. Broncos’ ball at their 42.

5:52 Kaepernick threw three first down passes on that drive — one to Bruce Ellington, one to Vernon Davis and one to Michael Crabtree. Kaepernick could not convert the one third down he faced, a third-and-4. He threw deep for Crabtree who was flagged for pass interference.

5:55 Peyton Manning throws a 39-yard touchdown pass to Wes Welker on second-and-8. As I was saying, Manning does not play for third downs. Welker beat Brock on that play. Brock was beatenby Emmanuel Sanders for an 18-yard catch two players earlier.

5:56 The refs are reviewing the play to see if Welker went out of bounds at the 1 yard line.

5:58 The refs confirm the ruling on the field. 14-0 Broncos.

6:04 The Niners go three and out. Frank Gore loses a yard on first down, Vernon Davis drops a deep pass over the middle on second down and Kaepernick throws over Brandon Lloyd’s head on third down.

6:09 The first quarter ends after Aaron Lynch sacks Peyton Manning on first and 19 from the Denver 46. Lynch made the Broncos’ backup right tackle fall on his back side.

  1. Let’s go Niners…no one gives us a chance in hell…shock the world…but do a better job than the three and out you just had

  2. Come on offense cant you ever start well. I hate watching us try this spread crap, I really hope at some point we can establish a few plays that we can consistently run with success, rather than this herky jerky stuff.

  3. No pressure at all and wilhoite can’t even hold Willis jock. Not even in the same ballpark. All I can hope for is they come out of this game healthy

    1. The league wants Peyton Manning to break Favre”s record…by ANY MEANS NECESSARY…I’m not one for conspiracies, but…

  4. I just came on here to see if anyone else saw the hold on Lynch on the TD. It is annoying that the game coverage is so focused on mannings td record. During a normal night the announcer would have pointed out the hold- fairly obvious- but it is Mannings night- already has been determined

  5. Looks like it could be a very long night, not much appears to be working.
way too much time for PM, need to pressure him. He is tearing us apart.

    1. Here’s the first question for the coaches tonight:

“WTF were you thinking throwing Brock back into the starting lineup in a game like this after being out for so long?”

  6. Well it’s obvious were going to have to score a lot because the defense is getting scorched.

  7. I am a happy fan right now baby! Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Broncos! Peyton is going to get that TD tonight! Harbaugh needs the waambulance!

    1. Did mommy let you back on the computer after your temper tantrum today when the Chickens lost again?

  8. Hi Niner Al, I just want Harbaugh out as the coach. I want a QB that’s not afraid to pass. I guess you like sucking on CK’s lack of an arm don’t you?

  9. Nothing is working. This is ugly. How are they going to respond?
Run to the left on first down, throw on 2nd and 3rd, punt on 4th.

  10. Vernon Davis sold out on this team during his holdout. He’s not even focused on helping this team. How many games do we play him before we decide to trade him? Trade him now whole we can still get something for him.

  11. Is there an ignore function available. It would be nice if I could set it so that certain posts never show up.

  12. Davis looks like hes in a fog again and the only way Crabtree and Boldin can get open it seems is to push off. A ton of offensive PI’s have been called on our receivers this year.
