49ers @ Buccaneers live blog: Third quarter

This is the live blog for the third quarter of the 49ers’ Week 15 game against the Buccaneers. I’ll update this frequently with information and analysis from my living room.

11:47 Kaepernick throws a pick-six on second-and-13 from the 49ers’ 45, but the touchdown is nullified because McCoy jumped offside.

11:50 Kaepernick throws back-to-back errant passes and the 49ers punt it into the Bucs’ end zone. Kaepernick was terrible on that series.

11:56 The Bucs commit a holding penalty and a personal foul and punt from their goal line. James returns it 9 yards to the Bucs’ 44.

12:03 Schiano calls timeout as the 49ers’ face third-and-9 from the Bucs’ 20. Gore just made a beautiful run, tip-toeing down the left sideline after getting hit in the backfield. One play before that one, Boldin reached back and made a one-handed 7-yard catch on a poorly-thrown third-and-4 pass from Kaepernick.

12:07 Dawson makes a 43-yard field goal and the Niners lead 20-7. On third-and-14, Kaepernick rolled out to the right and threw a pass to Boldin, who was double-covered by Revis and Goldson. The pass went right through Revis’ hands, Boldin caught and Goldson knocked it away.

12:11 McDonald tips Glennon’s pass on third-and-14 and the Bucs punt. They lost 4 yards on that drive and currently have 107 net yards.

12:11 James returns the punt 9 yards to the 49ers’ 37.

12:16 Kaepernick rolls out and hits Boldin for 11 yards on first down. The 49ers go three-and-out after that. Kaepernick underthrows Davis on a back-shoulder fade, Gore gains one yard up the middle and Manningham gains two yards on a crossing route.

12:23 The Bucs face first-and-10 at the 49ers’ 24 when the fourth quarter begins. The Bucs have gone to the no-huddle offense and have driven the ball 68 yards on this drive. The Bucs would be nuts to do anything but the hurry-up offense the rest of the game.
