49ers pursue Braylon Edwards

Now the 49ers are pursuing wide receiver Braylon Edwards, according to Adam Schefter.

Schefter believes Edwards is a good fit for the 49ers, and that the two sides could agree to a one-year deal.

The 6’3″ Edwards is two inches shorter than Malcom Floyd, but he’s also two years younger.

Edwards is the most talented wide receiver still on the free agent market, more talented than Floyd, but he’s also inconsistent. He caught a staggering 16 touchdown catches in 2007, but he’s caught just 18 TD passes in three seasons since then.

If Harbaugh signs off on Edwards, he would be a more exciting acquisition than Floyd.

Perhaps patience will be a virtue for Baalke and the 49ers after all.
