OAKLAND — This is the live blog for the first quarter of the 49ers’ Week 14 game against the Raiders. I will update this frequently with information and analysis from the press box.
1:23 The 49ers call heads. It’s tails, and the Raiders defer.
1:24 Bruce Ellington watches the kickoff fly into the stands. First and 10 at the 20.
1:26 Colin Kaepernick’s first pass gets picked off at midfield. He scrambled left and floated a pass over Michael Crabtree’s head. You’ve got to be kidding.
1:31 Sebastian Janikowski makes a 57-yard field goal. 3-0 Raiders.
1:38 Kaepernick tries to scramble on third-and-11 from the Niners’ 32 and Benson Mayowa runs him down for a sack. T.J. Carrie returns Andy Lee’s 60-yard punt to the Raiders’ 19.
1:43 The Raiders go three-and-out. Andre Holmes was flagged for offensive pass interference against Perrish Cox on second down.
1:44 Niners’ ball at their 40.
1:50 Kaepernick hits a wide open Bruce Miller in the left flat for an 8-yard touchdown. 7-3 Niners. Frank Gore gained 16 yards on back-to-back counter runs to the left, and Vernon Davis made a 23-yard catch earlier in the drive when Kaepernick rolled out to his right.
1:54 Greg Roman lined up Boldin in the backfield twice during that drive. First, Boldin received a handoff and gained four yards up the middle. Next, Boldin lined up at full back, ran to the left flat and made a 7-yard catch on third-and-four. When Roman lines up a non-running back in the backfield, it seems like that player gets the ball 90 percent of the time. Keep in mind Roman had a week and a half to prepare for this game.
1:57 T.J. Carrie catches the kickoff at the Raiders’ 6 and returns it 20 yards to the 26.
1:59 Latavius Murray gains 15 yards on a pitch-sweep to the right. First-and-10 for the Raiders at the Niners’ 49 when the second quarter begins.
