49ers @ Redskins live blog: Second quarter

This is the live blog for the second quarter of the 49ers’ Week 12 Monday Night game in Washington. I’ll update this frequently with information and analysis from my living room.

6:22 Kaepernick completes a 42-yard pass to Davis on the first play of the drive. Davis was split out as the X receiver and single-covered by Josh Wilson. The 49ers couldn’t get another first down, though. Meriweather tackled Kaepernick after a 2-yard gain on third-and-5. Dawson hit the 29-yard field goal. 10-0 Niners.

6:31 It’s second-and-10 for Washington at the 49ers’ 19 and the Redskins use their first timeout. They have rushed for 35 yards on 6 carries during this drive.

6:34 The 49ers blitz everyone on third-and-9 and Griffin throws a pass to the turf. Kai Forbath makes the 36-yard field goal. 10-3 Niners. Griffin’s rating is up to 14.6. Yards per attempt – 2.2 This guy makes Colin Kaepernick look like Johnny Unitas.

6:39 Kaepernick calls timeout to avoid a Delay penalty on second-and-8, the second play of the drive.

6:41 The 49ers go three-and-out. On third-and-5, Kaepernick tries to force a pass to Boldin in zone coverage and Riley drops the interception. The Redskins have the ball at their 20 after the punt.

6:47 It’s the 2-minute warning and the Redskins face second-and-4 at the 49ers’ 37. Griffin threw back-to-back 18-yard passes, one to Satana Moss over the middle on third-and-9, and one to Morgan the next play.

6:51 Griffin calls timeout No.2 with 41 seconds left and the Redskins facing second-and-1 at the 49ers’ 18. Griffin just completed back-to-back 9-yard passes, one to Morgan and one to Garcon in front of Brock.

6:54 Forbath makes a 35-yard field goal as the half expires and it’s 10-6 Niners. Justin Smith sacked Griffin on second down and forced Griffin to fumble, but the Redskins recovered.
