49ers v. Broncos preseason live blog: Third quarter

SAN FRANCISCO — This is the live blog for the third quarter of the 49ers’ exhibition game against the Denver Broncos. I’ll update this frequently with information and analysis from the press box.

7:37 Kassim Osgood tackles Trindon Holliday at the Broncos’ 5 yard line. Osgood could make the 49ers as a gunner.

7:39 The Broncos gain one yard and go three-and-out as Wilhoite makes two tackles. The 49ers start this drive at the Broncos’ 49. Tolzien is in.

7:43 On second and five, Tolzien throws a short pass to Chuck Jacobs, but Kayvon Webster picks it off. The Broncos take over at their 35.

7:46 Colt McCoy has an injured shoulder and his return is doubtfull. Bubba Ventrone has a pulled hamstring and his return is doubtful.

7:46 Osweiler goes three-and-out again. On third and 13, Haralson sacked him for a loss of five.

7:47 Cox returns the punt 15 yards to the 49ers’ 39 yard line.

7:51 On third and eight, Tolzien throws a nice pass to Hall on a corner route, but Omar Bolden jumped up and knocked it away. Then, Trindon Holliday caught the punt at the two yard line and Lockette destroyed him.

7:57 C.J. Anderson runs down the teeth of the 49ers’ defense for a 16-yard gain. Nick Moody is shaken up on the play. It appears his left leg got rolled up on.

8:05 The Broncos’ 14-play drive stalls at the 49ers’ 7 yard line after C.J. Anderson goes nowhere on fourth and one. Denver is challenging the play.

8:07 Moody suffered a left knee injury and he is out for the rest of the game.

8:08 Denver’s challenge fails. 49ers’ ball at their 7 yard line, and Tolzien is still the QB.

8:11 Tolzien completes back-to-back long passes to end the quarter – a 17-yard pass to Vance McDonald on a corner route, and a 21-yard pass to Chuck Jacobs on a square in.
