49ers v. Titans live blog: Second quarter

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — This is the live blog for the second quarter of the 49ers’ Week 7 game against the Titans. I’ll update this frequently with information and analysis from the press box.

1:43 C.J. Spillman tackles Reynaud at the Titans’ 32 for a loss of one on the return. Great tackle.

1:48 A holding penalty ends another Titans’ drive. They start with four runs in a row and on the fourth Delanie Walker was flagged for holding. The Titans punt and Williams makes the fair catch at the 49ers’ 20.

1:58 The 49ers call timeout on third-and-7 from the Titans’ 20. Earlier in the drive Boldin caught a 25-yard pass over Verner who had great coverage. A couple of plays later Boldin made an 11-yard one-handed catch on first-and-15. A few plays later Kaepernick threw it deep and got picked off by Bernard Pollard but Kaepernick got hit in the knee as he threw the ball and the interception didn’t count. The Titans were flagged for unnecessary roughness.

2:00 Kaepernick runs to the left on a read-option play and runs 20 yards untouched for a touchdown. Very good use of the read-option in the red zone. 10-0 Niners with 6:42 left in the half.

2:04 Bubba Ventrone tackles Reynaud at the Titans’ 11.

2:08 Locker throws a 14-yard pass to Nate Washington on first down and two plays later Locker throws a deep pass right to Tramaine Brock who makes the interception. 49ers’ ball at the Titans’ 45.

2:13 Kaepernick scrambles for 20 yards on third-and-11. Two plays later, Kaepernick rolls to his right and throws a pass that gets tipped but Vance McDonald catches it at the 1-yard line in between two defenders who were just standing there. The Titans are challenging the play.

2:15 The refs confirm that the pass was caught. First and goal at the 1.

2:18 Gore up the middle for a 1-yard TD run. 17-0 Niners with 2:07 left in the first half.

2:20 Reynaud lets the kickoff bounce at the four and he snatches it and runs to the 9. Wow is he horrible.

2:28 The Titans go nowhere and the half ends. Patrick Willis makes a great tackle on Chris Johnson on a screen pass for a 4-yard loss. The 49ers will receive the ball at the beginning of the second half.
