49ers v. Titans live blog: Third quarter

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — This is the live blog for the third quarter of the 49ers’ Week 7 game against the Titans. I’ll update this frequently with information and analysis from the press box.

2:37 The Titans did a good job defending Gore, who had 29 yards on 10 carries in the first half. But the Titans can’t stop running quarterbacks. Kaepernick is the game’s leading rusher – 10 carries for 50 yards. He is an amazing player.

2:42 Kaepernick throws a perfect pass to Vernon Davis on third-and-four for a gain of 19. Next play, the 49ers waste a timeout to avoid a delay penalty.

2:50 Kaepernick follows that up with a 16-yard pass to Boldin then a 15-yard pass to Boldin then a 12-yard pass to Davis. Gore punches it in from a yard out for his second touchdown of the game. 24-0 Niners. Boldin is having a great game.

2:58 On third-and-two, Johnson rushes for two yards but Harbaugh is challenging the spot.

3:01 Harbaugh was right. Johnson was down before the first down. The Titans are punting because they have so much time to come back.

3:04 The 49ers go three-and-out. Gore gains just two yards on first down, Davis catches a 7-yard pass on second down. On third and one Kaepernick rolls to the right and throws to Davis but Davis trips and falls. Harbaugh wants a flag and runs over to the ref and screams at him and the ref turns his back and walks away. The 49ers punt and the Titans have the ball at their 18.

3:08 The Titans go three-and-out again. They’re punting on fourth-and-three. That’s funny. Fitzpatrick couldn’t have been any worse than Locker today. The Titans punt and Darryl Morris gets flagged for a block in the back. First-and-10 at the 49ers’ 8.

3:14 On the first play of the drive Kaepernick completes a swing pass to Gore who runs 29 yards untouched down the right sideline before he’s tackled. Bruce Miller had a great block on the play. After the play the 49ers’ go three-and-out and punt.

3:18 Locker completes a 42-yard pass to Nate Washington who jumps and catches the ball over Tramaine Brock. Next play, Brock knocks away a deep pass for Justin Hunter in the end zone. Second-and-10 when the fourth quarter begins.
