49ers vs. Colts live blog: Second quarter

SAN FRANCISCO — This is the live blog for the second quarter of the 49ers’ Week 3 game against the Colts. I’ll update this frequently with information and analysis from the press box.

2:06 Bradshaw rushes two more times and doesn’t get the first down and Bradshaw is shaken up. The Colts didn’t throw it one time on that drive. Fourth and one.

2:09 Kyle Williams makes the fair catch at the SF 8.

2:12 The Colts leave Patton uncovered on third-and-nine, Kaepernick telegraphs the pass to him and Delano Powell smacks Patton as the pass arrives and it’s incomplete. Anthony Davis was flagged for a false start two plays before. The 49ers punt and Hilton returns it 12 yards to the Colts’ 45.

2:14 Richardson is in the Colts’ huddle on first down.

2:22 Adam Vinatieri makes a 43-yard field goal. 10-7 Colts. The drive stalled when Mike McGlynn committed an illegal hands-to-the-face penalty in the red zone. The Colts are having success passing into Tarell Brown’s coverage.

2:28 Kaepernick converts one third-and-long with a 23-yard pass to a wide open Boldin, but Kaepernick can’t convert two. On the second he scrambles around and throws to Gore who falls over himself before the ball arrives. Lee punts. Colts’ ball at their 15. Gore looked effective running out of the traditional formations in the first quarter, but the Colts have shut him down since the second drive of the game. The 49ers subbed in Anthony Dixon to run a toss sweep out of the pistol. It seems the 49ers don’t want Gore running out of the Pistol.

2:41 Donald Brown goes nowhere on third-and-one and the Colts must punt with 29 seconds left in the half.

2:42 Kyle Williams makes the fair catch at the SF 8.

2:43 Kaepernick takes a knee and the clock runs out. Halftime. Kaepernick has completed two passes and both were to Boldin. No one besides Boldin has caught a pass on the 49ers and they’re only losing by three.
