49ers vs. Colts live blog: Third quarter

SAN FRANCISCO — This is the live blog for the third quarter of the 49ers’ Week 3 game against the Colts. I’ll update this frequently with information and analysis from the press box.

2:52 The 49ers will start the second half with the ball.

3:00 The 49ers’ go five-and-out. Kaepernick scrambles for just one yard on third-and-four. The play before, Gore gained nothing out of the pistol. He’s been effective when Kaepernick’s been under center in this game but not out of the Pistol. 49ers punt. Colts ball at their 25.

3:06 The 49ers burn their first timeout of the second half. NaVorro Bowman seemed to not know what to do. The Colts have driven to the SF 37. The 49ers’ are having trouble stopping third-string running back Donald Brown. He just broke a 16-yard run past Aldon Smith.

3:11 Vinatieri makes a 41-yard field goal. 13-7 Colts. Justin Smith almost sacked Andrew Luck on third-and-ten.

3:20 Kaepernick gets two first downs throwing to Miller and Gore, but then he loses 5 yards on a read-option keep and the 49ers can’t recover. Lee punts. Colts’ ball at their 8.

3:25 Luck completes a pass to Wayne for 25 yards on third-and-nine and Willis is hurt.

3:26 The 49ers burn their second timeout of the half and it’s still the third quarter.

3:29 Luck completes a 19-yard pass to Wayne and Reid misses another tackle in the open field. First-and-10 for the Colts at the 49ers’ 45 when the fourth quarter starts.
