SANTA CLARA — This is the live blog for the first quarter of the 49ers’ Week 12 game against the Redskins. I will update this frequently with information and analysis from the press box.
1:23 The Redskins call heads. It’s tails. The 49ers win the toss and defer.
1:25 Andre Roberts returns the kickoff the Redskins’ 17.
1:27 The Redskins go three-and-out. Robert Griffin holds the ball too long in the pocket on second-and-3 and gets sacked by Aldon Smith. Griffin’s fault. Next play, Griffin has time in the pocket but he still overthrows his receiver downfield and Eric Reid almost picks off the pass.
1:32 Thirty-yard touchdown pass from Colin Kaepernick to Anquan Boldin on second-and-6. The Niners got Boldin matched up on strong safety Brandon Merriweather. Five-play, 59-yard drive. 7-0 Niners.
1:34 Roberts returns the kickoff to the Redskins’ 21.
1:38 Griffin throws deep for Desean Jackson on second-and-13 from the Redskins’ 40. Jackson is double covered by Chris Culliver and Eric Reid. Culliver gives up on the play and watches Reid try to make the interception. Jackson desperately knocks the pass to the ground. The Redskins punt two plays later.
1:45 Kaepernick fumbles the snap and falls on it for a two-yard loss on second-and-10 from the 44. Next play, Kaepernick calls timeout to avoid a delay penalty.
1:47 Kaepernick misses Boldin on third-and-12. Andy Lee punts. Roberts returns it to the Redskins’ 15. Roberts is flagged for face mask penalty. First-and-10 from the 7.
1:52 Griffin holds on to the ball for more than three seconds and Ray McDonald sacks him on third-and-8 from Washington’s 26. The Redskins punt. Time to bench Griffin.
1:54 Perrish Cox returns the punt 4 yards to the 49ers’ 45.
1:58 Kaepernick completes an easy 10-yard pass to Boldin on third-and-8 from the 49ers’ 48. Former 49er Trenton Robinson was covering Boldin in the slot. Robinson lined up 9 yards off Boldin. Saw that completion coming before Marcus Martin snapped the ball.
I hope Washington covers Boldin with Meriweather all day. Too easy
Did I hear that right? Niners are tied at #1 in the league with the most TD on their opening drive. I wonder where we at in the opening drive on the 2nd half? Probably last…
I am pretty sure you heard that wrong
Niners came to play today
Rg3 looks lost. Now is the time to get into an offensive groove.
Was that a “sight adjustment to miller there off the blitz? Hmmm
i think there might be a stat. niners win the games that bruce miller catches a ball
No that’s on ck not Martin
Of course :)
Let’s go Niners….
Maybe we should also blame CK for these botched football snaps.
Not all of them are martins fault. He fumbled the ball after it was in his hands for a minute. That one was on ck.
Wilson just pulled out a sandlot play. Looked left the whole time and without turning his head throws right to a wide open receiver. Not a big fan of Wilson but that was brilliant
I don’t like the dude but I gotta give him props.
Rg3 is going to get yanked,
Seattle fails to covert in the redzone.
Settle for fg. 6-0 seahaks
*convert
There you go R Mac!!!
Mac has been playing outstanding football since the DA decided not to charge him.
When did Ray McD get so good.
Lynch helps him out.
Borland is a beast!!!!
I’m not a fan of cox. but one of the best off season moves we had was NOT cutting Cox. He has become an essential backup.
I was shaking my head when Baalke drafted Borland. Turns out that he is the best draft pick Baalke has made since Aldon Smith
Lou- much better than Smith because Smith was a really high no brainer pick plus they also had the option to draft Watts at that spot as well. They couldn’t lose at the spot they were drafting. Borland- well that’s self explainatory.
Another fg for the seahaks… 9-0
I can’t decide who to root for. if the seahawks win we get a little closer to taking the division lead. but if the seahawks lose we have a better chance for a wild card
Again the niner d has to bail out the niner o.
Cox seems to be afraid of the ball today
