The 49ers re-signed kicker Shane Andrus to a one-year contract today, and will likely expect him to handle the backup duties at placekicker and punter during training camp this summer to save a spot on the 80-man roster for another position.
Andrus appeared in one game for the 49ers after he replaced two injured kickers. Andrus took over for Ricky Schmitt, who replaced Joe Nedney. Andrus made four extra points in the 49ers’ 28-6 season-ending victory over the Rams.
