49ers sign Paymah to 1-year contract

The 49ers today announced the signing of free-agent cornerback Karl Paymah, whom the club pursued last offseason before he signed with the Vikings. Paymah signed a one-year contract.

Paymah, a four-year veteran, appeared in 12 games with the Vikings and started twice. He would be earmarked to take the place of Marcus Hudson, who signed this week with the Panthers.

Also, veteran free-agent linebacker Akin Ayodele is scheduled to travel tomorrow to Detroit for a Friday visit with the Lions. He had a good visit with the 49ers on Tuesday. The 49ers told him if he joined the 49ers, he would be a backup to both Patrick Willis and Takeo Spikes at the inside linebacker spots.
