A few words about the new blog (and a coffee mug)

Merry Christmas is no longer appropriate – it’s past midnight here in snow-covered St. Louis – but I hope you had a great day.

I’m happy to report that I unwrapped a one-of-a-kind gift Saturday morning: A hand-painted, multi-colored coffee mug with a dog’s face jutting out the front and his, um, posterior sticking out the back.

My gift-giving daughters excitedly pointed out the dog’s rear end more than once because they, like me, really enjoy potty talk.

So it was a great gift. And I will drink from it proudly. As a dad, I can’t tell you how gratifying it is to know that, if nothing else, I’ve passed down a passion for bathroom humor to my children.

That was my favorite present, but, as you’ve noticed, we did get a pre-Christmas gift around here – a blog that won’t go kablooey.

The old site was bug-infested and, last week, those bugs nearly inspired me to head-butt my keyboard in a blind rage.

So far, the feedback has been largely positive. It does have a cleaner look although I do apologize for the size of my face on the home page. The Webmaster has already corrected a few minor annoyances such as the order in which blog comments appear, but please leave a comment below if you have any questions or suggestions.

There is one question I can answer, thanks to our Webmaster. The RSS feed has changed. You can use your browser’s built-in tools to detect the new RSS tool and install it in your RSS reader. Or you can use this link: http://49ers.pressdemocrat.com/feed/rss/

Hopefully that makes sense to you.

And hopefully you got a memorable gift yesterday, like a coffee mug with a multi-colored dog face on the front.
