Sorry, 49ers fans, I’m planning to violate two of your strongest taboos, and maybe a third. I can’t help myself. From my short time on this beat, I know that:
1) You don’t want to hear anything about the Raiders, and
2) Many of you can’t stand Los Angeles.
I’m also guessing, just through casual observation of the culture wars, that some of you probably have strong views on hip-hop, and especially on gangsta rap. So it stands to reason that a movie about the Raiders and rap, and how they merged in 1980s L.A., isn’t exactly a marquee event in Niner Nation.
But I personally can’t wait to see Ice Cube’s “Straight Outta L.A.” on ESPN at 5 p.m. this afternoon. It’s part of the 30-for-30 series, which has been uniformly fabulous. This one promises to be one of the best installments. You can watch it, too. You don’t have to tell anybody.
