Bears-49ers live blog: Second quarter

SAN FRANCISCO — This is the live blog for the second quarter of the 49ers Week 11 Monday night home game against the Chicago Bears. I’ll update this frequently with information and analysis from the press box.

6:16 On second and three, Kaepernick hits Davis for an easy gain of 32 yards.

Kaepernick’s first half stat line: 12 for 15, 184 yards (12.3 yards per attempt), 1 TD, 140 QB rating.

6:19 On second and ten from the Bears 14, Kaepernick hands off the Kendall Hunter on a read option, and Hunter breaks two tackles to score the touchdown. 17-0 Niners two minutes into the second quarter. They’ve scored on all three possessions. This is a one-round knockout.

6:26 On first down, Campbell drops back and gets sacked immediately by Aldon Smith. He now has 11.5 sacks on the season, tied for 2nd-best in the NFL.

6:27 On third and 12, Campbell floats a pass to Tarell Brown on the sideline. Brown picks it off easily. 49ers ball at the Bears 44 yard line. This is going to be a blowout. The Bears absolutely cannot compete.

6:28 Moss dropped a bullet from Kaepernick earlier and hurt his finger, but he’s going back into the game. Campbell has a 0.0 QB rating.

6:36 On third and 11 from the Bears 31, Kaepernick hits Crabtree underneath. Crabtree breaks two tackles and picks up 20 yards. Great play by Crabtree.

6:38 On third and 11 from the Bears 12, no 49er receiver go open, so Kaepernick held double-clutched the ball in the pocket and got crunched between two Bears defenders for a sack. Akers makes a field goal to make the score 20-0.  The 49ers have scored on all four possessions.

6:41 The Bears come out and run on first and second down for a combined loss of one yard, and then gain nothing on a third down screen pass. Their offensive coordinator Mike Tice is predictable, unimaginative and just plain awful

6:45 On third and four, Kaepernick steps up in the pocket and scrambles forward for three yards. Andy Lee will punt for the first time with 2:42 left in the first half.

6:47 Good vs. Pathetic: The 49ers are averaging 8 yards per play. The Bears are averaging 1.1 yards per play.

6:48 On first and 10 from the Bears 11, Aldon Smith gets his third sack of the first half. Every 49er is playing better in this game. Kaepernick has energized the entire team.

6:53 The 49ers get the ball back at their 38 yard line with 1:39 left in the first half and one timeout remaining.

6:55 On third and 2, Crabtree drops a low pass from Kaepernick. Andy Lee punts. Bears ball at their 7 yard line.

6:58 The Bears let the clock run out. 20-0 49ers at halftime.
