Carlos Rogers is no loser

SANTA CLARA – Carlos Rogers spoke in the media tent after practice Sunday afternoon. One reporter asked Rogers if he draws motivation from the 49ers’ recent interest in cornerback Eric Wright and their signing of cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha earlier this offseason.

“No, I really don’t,” said Rogers, shrugging his shoulders. “I don’t want to sound conceited, but I don’t really pay attention. Anybody who they bring in can help the team, but I just worry about me, playing my position, learning the outside, learning the Nickel, continuing to try to get better and to try to make plays for this team.

“Like I always say, my play stands for itself. Until Coach Vic or Coach Harbaugh comes to me and tells me that my position is challenged, then that’s what it is. But other than that, I just put my head down and play every day and not worry about who they bring in.

“If that’s the case, I already lost.”
