Running back Frank Gore is out for today's game against the Falcons with a right ankle sprain. Maurice Hicks and Michael Robinson will share the duties in place of Gore, who is listed as one of the team's inactive players.
Also, cornerback Walt Harris will not suit up for the game due to a knee injury. Shawntae Spencer is scheduled to get the start in place of Harris.
Here is the full list of inactive players for today's game:
49ers -- Shaun Hill (No. 3 QB), WR LeRon McCoy, RB Frank Gore, CB Walt Harris, S Keith Lewis, G Tony Wragge, T Jonas Jennings, DE/DT Atiyyah Ellison.
Hicks/Robinson will start for Gore; Spencer starts for Harris; Adam Snyder starts for Jennings.
Neither Jennings nor Lewis made the trip because of their injuries. Lewis has a hamstring strain that has kept him out of three games, while Jennings will miss his second game in a row with a high ankle sprain.
Falcons -- QB Byron Leftwich, RB Artose Pinner, LB Stephen Nicholas, T Terrance Pennington, OL D'Anthony Batiste, T Harvey Dahl, TE Alge Crumpler, DT Tim Anderson.
Dwayne Blakley starts at TE in place of Crumpler.

Rookie Jason Hill will suit up for just the second time in his career. It'll be worth watching to see if he gets any playing time, other than special teams.
Also, 49ers VP of player personnel said on the KNBR pre-game show that David Baas will see time at right and, possible, left guards to spell Justin Smiley and Larry Allen.

Former President Jimmy Carter is at the game. He was on the sideline before the game, and was seen meeting 49ers owner John York.

Comment: I think we are in deep trouble if we don't win this game. I expect a big day from Vernon Davis.

Comment: I'm actually happy to see M rob get some carries, although it sucks Gore is out. I think it may force a different offensive game plan. This may be a good thing as those handoffs to Gore just looked way too predictable up until now. Lets get something going today. If we get Vernon involved early and hit a lot of dump offs for gains we should have no problem moving the ball and winning this game. Time for the D to get back to early season form, they may actually get some help from the offense today. GOOO Niners - belief not yet lost! If sea and ari loose today and we beat seattle next week were right back in there.

Comment: Win or no-win...either way this team still is pathetic. I don't know who to blame for this season, but ultimately it has to come down to the coach. Nolan needs to be let go. That much is obvious. Singletery (who will be gone after this season) will be a better head coach then Nolan is. We are stuck with Smith, who will be known as one of the largest 1st round busts in NFL history. It looks like round 4 of the rebuilding process starts again...better now then wait a year or two.

Comment: I bet the crowd doesn't get much bigger than Matt's photo. Atlanta is a pro sports wasteland. Worst fans in the country.

Comment: It's time to put Hicks, and Mr Robinson in there. I don't really think highly of either, but that's all we got. I want to see more Hill too!
