Dobbs in, Reuland out, Adams “blessed,” but still out

According to Matt Barrows, defensive lineman Demarcus Dobbs and safety Colin Jones will make the 49ers 53-man roster.

Dobbs is no surprise, but Colin Jones certainly is. He’d primarily be a special teamer, and I assumed the 49ers would keep safety C.J. Spillman for that role. Could the Niners keep both Jones and Spillman? I think it’s doubtful, but I could be wrong.

Also according to Barrows, two more players have been cut and offered spots on the practice squad: TE Konrad Reuland and CB Cory Nelms.

Reuland injured his knee late in training camp, and he was never the strongest blocker, although he certainly could catch. This seems to suggest the 49ers will look to sign another tight end.

I thought Phillip Davis performed better at cornerback in training camp than Nelms did, but apparently the coaching staff disagreed, unless they offer Davis a practice squad spot as well.

One more update: Phillip Adams just wrote on his twitter that he’s “blessed!” You’d think that means he made the team, but he didn’t according to Matt Maiocco. He’s been cut and he’s not eligible for the practice squad.
