Frank Gore Q&A

SANTA CLARA – Here’s the transcript of what Frank Gore said at his locker this afternoon.

Enjoy.

Q: What does it mean to you to perhaps one day become the 49ers all-time leading rusher?

GORE: I never really thought about it. When it comes, I would like to be the franchise leading rusher, but I never really thought about it.

Q: You said on TV the other day that you wanted to break some 49er records, to be among Roger Craig and…

GORE: I said that would be great, to be ahead of some of the guys who’ve been great for this organization. That’s a plus.

Q: At this stage in your career is that what you want, to make your mark with a franchise?

GORE: Yeah, that would be great, but also I would to go to the playoffs and hopefully I can go to the Super Bowl, like some of the older guys who I’m putting my name next to.

Q: How much are you expecting to rotate with Kendall Hunter and Anthony Dixon?

GORE: I never thought about rotating. Whenever I’m tired or if they feel they want Kendall or Anthony Dixon to run, then that’s up to the coaches.

Q: How’s their style different than yours?

GORE: Anthony Dixon is bigger, Kendall’s smaller. Kendall, he’s a quick little guy. Anthony Dixon, I think he can do both. I think I can do everything myself. We’ve got three good running backs that can help this team.

Q: What’s been your impression of Braylon Edwards?

GORE: You can tell he loves what he does and he’s serious about the game. I like any guy who approaches the game like they love it, and that’s what he does. I’m happy that he’s a part of the Niners.

Q: What does it mean to be voted team captain at this stage of your career?

GORE: It’s a blessing. I always felt like a captain but now I get to have “C” on my jersey, and knowing how my teammates look at me, so it’s a blessing.

Q: Do you go into this week with the weight off your shoulders?

GORE: I was going to play football no matter what. That’s what I love to do. If it wouldn’t have gotten done, I still would have had to go play ball. Like I said before, I still would have had to put up film for other teams, but now I’m a Niner for the next three to four years, and that’s a plus for me.

Q: What do you make of Jim Harbaugh and Pete Carroll’s rivalry?

GORE: I guess they know each other. The last year (Carroll) was in college I know that Stanford beat up on them, so I know (Carroll) wants to come out and get some revenge, but hey, we’re going to be ready.
